It’s pretty nice to sit out on the Marina front here, but I find the whole Karma thing a bit confusing. After all if you are into Ibiza type bars and clubs, wouldn’t you rather be in Ibiza — the marina has rather the opposite vibe. Personally I find it hard to ‘lose myself’ in places like this, and pretend that I am actually in the country they are doing a faux imitation of. I’d prefer to be in a plain box when I am out, not a box lined with velvet and gold, it gives you space to concentrate on the finer things like good dj’s and space to swing.

Karma is one of the nicest places to drink at the mariner. They’ve really gone all out on the décor and gone for a Moroccan theme with high ceiling, large wood and brass features, little cubby holes with tables in and the hole place is full of cushion and generally rustic accessories. I have never been there in the evening but I think it get quiet busy with revelers, they serve cocktails and have DJs at the weekend and there’s plenty of room for dancing. If your I that neck of wood I would deffo recommend it’s maybe not worth a trip out of town for.

The outside patio area is really nice here for a few beers in the summertime. I find the cocktails ok but quite pricey. The interior is a little over the top in my opinion, I can’t quite decide what they’re trying to achieve there but the bar is fantastic! A real ambitious center-piece. The service can be a little slow but the staff are really friendly and chatty when its not too crowded. I just can’t help thinking a night out in there would be a touch annoying as they are really trying to hard to make the place look like a bar in Ibiza. Its not — its Brighton Marina. Stick to the daytime visits I think.

This is the best bar at the Marina. However, that doesn’t say much. It’s got a tack faux-Morroccan theme, with lots of fake velvet and gold. I think they’d do better to concentrate on their service and possibly employ a few more bar staff. The bar itself is huge and takes over the middle of the bar, but it still seems to take forever to get served if it is even slightly busy. All that said, on a summer afternoon, it can be very pleasant to sit outside and enjoy a drink among the boats. I wouldn’t bother with the overpriced food though.

Karma is a really individual venue, particularly for the concrete chain restaurant fest that is Brighton Marina. Its décor is in a Moroccan style with high ceilings, lanterns, wood carvings and cushions everywhere. There’s some nice features like the dining cabins with little doors and there are lounging areas with gold cushions through out. Its worth a look if your passing just for the immense design effort that has gone into the place. In the day its a relaxed atmosphere and food is served including nachos, moules mariniere, salads and wraps. In the evenings DJs play all the Ibiza classics which combined with the outdoor terrace seating area gives it a mild Balearic feel. They serve a wide selection of cocktails from £7 which are worth every penny. Its not worth a trip to the concrete jungle for but deffo worthwhile if you ever find yourself at the marina.

Ive been in this bar a couple times and it is one of the few bars which is relaxing and well decorated. the seats are very comfy as you get large pillows to lay on. the staff are friendly and even done some flaring to show their skills off. the prices are slightly more expensive than normal, but your paying for the enjoyment of the bar and its dim-light atmosphere.

Gorgeously comfortable and colourful ethnic bar, situated on the Marina waterfront. You can sit outside and sip your chilled drink whilst dreaming about which yacht you’re going to sail away in, or relax in sumptuous style inside. There is a Moroccan-influenced theme and the vast interior is kitted out with huge intricate lamps suspended from the high ceiling and cosy booths where you can lounge and relax on beautifully embroidered cushions that you want to take home with you. There is a good choice of beers and wines, and the usual spirits and mixers available. If you’ve got a case of the munchies there are light snacks of spicy meze dishes available, plus a more substantial set menu to share with your friends. Dishes range from traditional Lamb, Chicken and fragrant CousCous options to exotic Vegetarian treats. A separate lunchtime menu is also on offer.

This struck us as being one the few marina front restaurants with a bit of individual character(ther rest are mainly Pizza Express, Café Rouge and Wetherspoons), and we were tempted in by the advert for moroccan food. Sadly this, was only available in the evening, so we had to settle for what turned out to be a fairly bland menu. Having to wait for half and hour when the restaurant was barely ¼ full did us no favours either. Probably, a lot more fun in the evening. A bit of a shame as the place had potential.
