These guys make the best curries in Brighton. We were recommended to go their by our friend and now we only buy our curries from there. The staff are friendly and the food is superb!

Really lovely place for a quiet meal — not fancy at all but great food and super-friendly. Goan dishes are often lighter and more subtle than regular indian/tandooris — especially the fish dishes. Monkfish or halibut Caldine is simply gorgeous!
Good place to go if you don’t want to be right in town, and you can often park nearby.

I have to say London Road isn’t my fave area of the city, but it seems to hold any array of excellent ethnic restaurants, Chilka House being one of them. The price reflects the quality and the menu is slightly more expensive than usual for Indian cuisine, but worth every penny. They offer 10% off during quiet periods and occasional meal deal so worth checking for bargains.

Chilka House is an nice exception to the many, many Indians that it is surrounded by, for one they specialise in Goanese dishes (the Goanese Peri Peri is particularly good) and offer the amazing selection of monkfish, halibut and punga as part of their mains.
Although the prices are a little higher than you might expect, or want to pay for a meal, but the proof really is in the pudding. The quality and tastes that are served are really worth it, and they have lovely vegetarian meals including some prize tofu dishes.

I agree with Sarah is one of the nicer little restaurants/houses in the outside of Brighton. It doesn’t look much from the outside and the area around it doesn’t help this matter but get inside and try the food out as I ams ure you will be pleasantly surprised.
The menu does seem a bit tailored for the English and I always prefer it if there are a few things that I do not really know about so I can try something different as people who always have the same are a bit naff.
Check the website out as it is helpful to give you a feel of the sort of variety they offer.

Specialising in traditional north Indian and Goanese Chilka house is fantastic curry house situated a little off London Road, Although its in an areao f Brighton where every other building is a curry house the Chilka House is one of the better ones. The fact that’s its been open for over 15 years is sentiment to its quality.
They have a very traditional menu so no scary surprises but lots of authentic scrummness. They also to 10% off during quieter periods so its worth checking with them.
