I’ve been to the Solihull restaurant and it’s impressive; a lot more impressive than this place. This place looks a bit like an office block/cubicle farm, crossed with a trendy bar. The food is all average, the service is the same, and the prices are too high for the whole experience. If you’re after food there are plenty, plenty other places to go round here and get your fill. All of them more glamorous and more decent than this place.

Erm… I’m not entirely sure what all the fuss is about with this place. The building seems to be the wrong way around, the windows all face the back of another building(yawn) whilst on the windowless side would be the canal views :/ There is plenty to choose from and something for everyone however the food is below average, the bread and pizza slice were like cardboard, on the other hand the chicken tikka was delightful. I won’t be rushing back but I wouldn’t say no if it was suggested.

I know buffet food is the most glamorous lunches or dinners to have but you can’t deny how popular Jimmy Spices is with Birmingham. The restaurant has recently expanded there seating area and can now host several large parties at once. When I went on a Saturday night there were 4 hen parties and plenty of other large groups. What Jimmy Spices offers that I’ve notices other buffet restaurants don’t is more fish dishes. Often when you go to Indian restaurants or have takeaway is predominantly meat dishes, this is a shame as fish pakoras and masala fish are really good dishes that often get overlooked. When I went this Sunday there had roast salmon as one of there carvery options and it was delicious.

Visited here for the second time and again this was ok nothing great but nothing dreadful just average. This is a theatre style buffet from around the world including Indian Chinese Italian British Thai Mexican and tepanyaki. It does have a dessert station with little choose. The food is low cost and lukewarm the drinks are good the servers are great a clearing the tables but they do not seem very happy/friendly. They do add a 10% service charge on the bill but both times I have asked them to remove it as I feel it was not earned and did not tip. I don’t feel it is worth £12.99 you could get a better meal elsewhere on broad st.

This is the place to go if everyone is too picky on what to eat, they have everything here so pleases everyone. Obviously it’s not as high quality food as if you go in a restaurant. Sometimes the food tastes bland or too salty. That’s because they cook big portions of stuff, so some food might be overcooked. I do enjoy their starters and currys. Overall it’s good place for groups and service is good.

I know your not going to get much for a 7.99 all you eat buffet and realistically not sure why am bothering wednesd lunchtime only 20 or so people eating but so many things were empty slow in filling up No duck on in the Chinese area c’mon drinks order was wrong twice. Nothing really stood out as nice. Freshly made pancakes were good though. Cheap and cheerful

My first time here this evening and it was a decent visit — although I won’t be rushing back. The place is a collection of different cookery theatre style buffets from around the world including Indian and Chinese, British, Mexican and a salad bar. There is even a dedicated dessert station. The friend I visited with said they’ve had a bit of a refurb and change around. Which has improved the place dramatically by all accounts. The staff seemed speedy, friendly and eager to help. Top marks for service but the quality of the food lets the place down a bit.

Jimmy Spices offers many delicacies such as American, Indian, Chinese and Italian, which further influences and entices a variety of customers. As well as this great aspect of the Jimmy Spices Company they also provide an open kitchen which consists of allowing to pick your toppings and letting the chefs stir fry and prepare your requested meal in front of you! Personally, I think that’s awesome being enabled to view your meal being cooked in front of you. What enlightens my visit every time I go is when the chefs flip the food within their basin pans and how the enraged flames of the fire sets some danger and excitement to your Jimmy Spices experience. It’s extremely exciting! As well as this aspect, you can go back for more delicious food and thrilling deliverance as much as you want. The deserts they provide are generously varied and shockingly tasty! I would definitely suggest dining here with both family and friends.

Luckily, my family and I managed to book a large table between 5pm — 7pm, qualifying for the early-bird price of £9.99 per person. In reflection, this price was fair if not brilliant. The food on offer at Jimmy Spices varied from all over the world, visiting every continent for a specific dish. However, on this particular visit, I wouldn’t be able to describe the food as anything better than mediocre. There may have a lot of it, but the food left me unsatisfied. Certain dishes, mainly the Asian cuisine went down better than others, but overall I must say I was slightly disappointed. To compound my misery further, the reasonable price of £9.99 ballooned with the introduction of £2.49 glasses of cocoa-cola. Despite this, one plus point that Jimmy Spices DOES have, would have the be the atmosphere. Everyone seems to be laughing, enjoying each others company, in what is often a fairly busy restaurant. Even if solely down to its unique menu, Jimmy Spices is probably worth the visit, although maybe stick to water whilst you are there.

This place is expensive for the standard of food they offer. I sampled some of the Chinese food and it was just not great at all, sweet and sour chicken and stir fried veg. The prawn crackers were fine. The Indian seemed to be slightly better. The poppadoms were slightly stale. The chicken used in the tikka masala had some pieces of joint/gristle that I chewed on. I hate chewing on gristle. I then tried some steamed basmati with some biryani gravy and a naan. This was more palatable, so I got a little more of that to line my stomach. I then had a ice cream cone for dessert. It was fun pulling my own cone, which turned out great :) But for 12.99GBP, the food standard was not great at all.

Try finding a restaurant that can seat a group of 50, at relatively short notices, and which won’t cost the world… it’s not that easy! I visited Birmingham with my university’s music society for a weekend, and we struggled to find anywhere we could all eat together. Until we visited Jimmy Spices. Despite there being a couple of other big groups booked at various times, they found us a slot and did us a decent-ish deal. And when we rocked up, the tables were(nearly) ready for us too, and the staff were friendly enough. Plus, the buffet concept works wonderfully for large groups. No long orders, no waiting for ages for everyone to get food — or eating your food whilst others are still wating and feeling guilty. The problem I usually have with buffets is that the quality suffers, and that’s no different here. But because of the size, the turn over is rapid, so food is nearly always relatively freshly cooked. And some of the dishes are cooked from scratch when you order them. All in all, Jimmy Spices is a good place for a group trip. I wouldn’t go back again on my own, but I would consider taking a big group there again.

I gave this 3⁄5 stars because it was«A-OK». Nothing horrific, nothing amazing. Just okay. I had some things I noticed, but 3 is for it being multi-cuisine. People, when you can’t figure out what you wanna do! You can com check this place out! Thanks to Hitesh C.(from Birmingham, UK)! He recommended that I check out this place after seeing where in Birmingham I was staying from one of my reviews. This is a Multi-Cuisine(i.e. Chinese, Italian, Indian, and Thai Cuisine Buffet.) Their Sunday through Wednesday rate for one adult is 12.99GBP. GENERALLY… — the chicken is much much better than the meat - Some food they had CHINESE: **Mapo Tofu — This was a little different than I was expecting. It was made with what seemed like agedashi tofu(as opposed to the raw soft unfried tofu. The agedashi style was still soft, but different). It was not bad. **Beef in Black Bean Sauce — The beef was not good quality; it may have been spoiled. It had a smell to it, and it tasted like it may have been spoiled. The meat was tough… we will see if I get sick tomorrow, but if I do, I will know for sure that it was the beef. I don’t know why I kept chewing… somebody please help me! **Szchechuan Chicken — This was also not what I was expecting, but it was good. The chicken was great quality, the sauce was okay. **Stir-fry(mongolian style) — the gentleman who made the stir-fry did a GREAT job!!! THAI: **Chicken in Thai Curry — =(Not so good. It lacked a lot of flavor. If the chef would’ve at least tried it, he would’ve caught on to this. Anyway… ITALIAN: **Arrabiata Pasta was fine. Nothin amazing, but fine. **Italian Grilled Chicken — This must have been my favorite. They’re using real chicken, they must slow cook it because the meat is soft and moist — not dried out! INDIAN: **Chicken Tikka — The meat was dried out. Lacked some flavor. **Butter Chicken — It was okay. Again, the actual meat was great quality. The sauce was okay. Not horrible but not amazing! ICECREAM was good. SERVICE was spotty. I don’t think the servers are assigned tables/sections. I had different people coming around to clean up my plates. I used an American credit card! so I couldn’t pay tip on my card… I started walking out and felt bad so I walked back in(after seeing I did have 5GBP) and gave them tip. It really wasn’t that great, but the last waitress… now, she made a difference!

For when you absolutely, positively have to eat til you can barely move, Jimmy Spice’s buffet works offers great value and reasonable quality food. There is a great selection of Italian, Indian, Thai and Chinese dishes including starters and main courses. There is oodles of room, which makes it a good place for office bashes, especially given the variety on offer here. Being so close to Broad Street, Jimmy Spices has a tendency to fill up and get a little noisy in the evening. Definitely not somewhere to have a quiet meal and drinks with someone you’re trying to impress with a knowledge of worldly cuisine! The drinks are a little dear, as you might expect from an all you can eat restaurant, and whenever I’ve been there wasn’t much of a choice of desserts. These minor gripes aside, this is a good choice for a night out with some friends, especially if you plan to move on to one of the many nearby bars afterward.

We visited here last night and was very impressed! Currently(not sure whether this is all the time) they have a 2 for 1 offer for couples on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays evenings. This means that it works out very cheap for an evening meal! It was 16.99 for the two of us including two large cokes.(normally prices are 12.95 for evenings and 6.95 for lunches) You are taken to your table and pointed out where to go. It is not just indian food but also chinese and thai. So for starters, there were chicken tikka bites, spring rolls, pakora and a few others and they had some quite hot garlic chilli sauce, yum! Be careful not to eat too many starters as you’ll definately miss out on the mains. There is so much choice! There is a selection of healthy foods such as olives, salads and other things on one side. There is a fairly big curry selection with lamb rogan josh, homemade chicken curry, beef with chilli(very hot!), butter chicken, thai green curry etc. There is a selection of rices and also some vegetarian curries. There is a massive pile of poppadoms around the other side and if you ask the chef he will cook a naan bread for you. If curry isn’t your thing then there is a suchi selection and a stir fry counter. Simply select your ingredients and the chef will cook it for you brilliant. There were a lot of other dishes that i’ve missed out but you’ll be certain to find something you like. If you’re still not full then there is the dessert counter with a selection of fresh fruits, ice cream, cakes and various other things you normally see on the buffet menu. It looks like jimmy spices would be a good place for a birthday celebration as its a fairly big place with long tables and also has a massive range of cocktails(which i hope to try out next time), beer and wines. They also have an offer of a birthday cake and champagne cocktail for birthday boys/girls if your party is bigger than six. Also its situated at the beginning of broad street so would be a great start to a night out especially as you don’t have to spend ages waiting for the food as you would at a normal restaurant. I’ll definately be going back :) p.s check out the website for more information, sample menus, special events etc.
