Promised to go back and update my review if we could get in and get a decent table which we did a couple of nights ago. Nice terrace table — sadly next to a bunch of fat drunk gringos. Not the fault of the restaurant but too bad. Unfortunately even with excellent service the food was really not very good. We found it all to be heavy, greasy and bland. Just some salt and pepper would have made a big difference. Someone in the kitchen needs to be tasting for seasoning. Reminded me of the food at Bravos — old blue haired retired gringo food. meh.

We probably would not have stopped here if just walking by. We were near and the reviews looked good. The restaurant was very clean but nothing special. Th attention and service we were given was great and very sincere. They made the best mojito either of us ever had. I asked what mint they used and the waiter even brought some leaves out on a plate for us to sample. The food was excellent. They had to use fresh ingredients. It’s always fun to find a place that surprises you.

Great shrimp fajitas. Different than in the US. Not the traditional veggies. Served with carrots and zucchini.

Sat on the top floor overlooking the entire city! All the food was amazing and the staff was very nice. The palate cleanser was a nice surprise and so delicious! The fire shrimp was not too spicy, the pork shoulder was so moist it was falling off the bone, the chimichurri steak was different than any chimichurri sauce I ever had but it was delicious and cooked perfectly and the fish tacos were amazing(homemade tortillas)!

May be the best Mexican food we have had. The hosts were extremely helpful and gracious and the food was awesome. We ordered the Tamales for appetizer and it comes with very tangy sauce. The fajitas were great and so were all other items. Rodriguez great job!

We stumbled across this restaurant, without reading any reviews. It is excellent! The service was excellent! They give you extras, you don’t even order, which is a nice surprise. Like a tequila cordial, to cleanse your palate. Rosemary rolls with herbed butter. We had the sticky ribs. OMG to die for! Then the lemon trout, stuffed with shrimp, mushrooms and I don’t know what else. On green rice, which is the prefect compliment. If you are looking for a unique dining experience(with A/C!), check them out.

Tasty! The place was a bit hard to spot and when we found it… tiny inside. The staff very friendly and attentive. We had a seat upstairs and it seemed like the staff was hovering the entire time. Food was very good. The ladies at the table next to us were also overjoyed with their meal. If you are spending a week or so in town, be sure to check the place out.

We had dinner at Layla’s last night. Made reservations via email and that all worked well. We had eaten there before and the food was excellent. This time, I am sorry to report that the food was just«so-so.» It felt as if the owners were trying to do too much and it has ruined the ambience and excellent taste of the restaurant.

We arrived into Puerto Vallarta on Wednesday night. We went there because it was only 2 blocks away from our rental condo. Business was very slow on that weekday. When we walked in, the staff gave us a warm welcome. Our waiter was so friendly and attentive. He introduced us the catch of the day and their menu had a great varieties of seafood. Their food were outstandingly good. Would recommend anyone who stay in the Old Town of PV.

If you want a fabulous meal with incredible service, you must dine at Layla’s. Nestled on a small street just off the busy Ave Mexico, Layla’s is just a short taxi ride from the main hotel area in Puerto Vallarta. We were a party of 5 and we had a variety of drinks, appetizers, main dishes and desserts. Every single thing we drank and ate was delicious! The fried oyster on the shell appetizer is a must have! So is the cucumber margarita! The service was impeccable. We had the good fortune of being having the owner, Mr. Rodrigo Mtnez take our reservation, and he graciously gave us the one of the best tables in the house: on the 4th floor roof, with an amazing view. Rodrigo, who speaks English very well, also helped us order, and he offered to customize our dishes any way we wanted. He even changed one of the recipes of his key dishes to make it vegetarian for our daughter, she said it was fabulous. Rodrigo and his staff made us feel like truly welcome guests. We will be visiting Layla’s several more times while we’re in Puerto Vallarta. This is an absolute MUST when in PV!
