You simply cannot go to PV and not eat here. Amazing food with incredible views of the ocean and city. Sangria by the pitcher. Fresh food made to order so don’t plan on eating quickly. Enjoy the atmosphere and great service and spend your evening here it will be well worth your time!

I came here in February on a trip with my mom and aunt and we made 8 o’clock reservations. We sat outside along the edge and overlooked the town/water. Not insanely beautiful views, but I imagine sunset would have been better. The food was great, very typical of tapas bars I’ve been to, and the service was good as well. The garlic shrimp, goat cheese and pork were hits. We received tequila as a free parting gift, which was appreciated! My only complaint was that their drink list was a little restrictive and basic — just a few standard cocktails. Also, we were seated on the 3rd floor and after walking uphill to get to the restaurant, hiking those three flights of stairs was not super fun. Overall though, a great meal at a great price! Also, note: They only accept CASH or AMERICANEXPRESS.

One of the primary reasons we visit Puerto Vallarta is to visit Barcelona Tapas. We usually come for dinner once, and lunch another time. The sangria is amazing and goes well with most of the items on the menu. They serve a wonderful aioli potato salad that goes great with the fresh pulpo. The skewered meats with dipping sauces or the baked cheese with tomato sauce are also clear winners. You can’t go wrong with the tapas style menu — there is something for everyone. Just go, you won’t be sorry. Tip, make a reservation to get a table on the top floor near the balcony at sunset — beautiful!

Everything about this restaurant was perfect — the attentive, cordial service, the mouthwatering dishes, the comfortable ambiance, and of course the amazing view over the mountains and ocean. The staff made my birthday celebration extra special. Better than most tapas meals you can get in the U.S. at a much lower price. I HIGHLY recommend it! We even ventured out of our all-inclusive resort for a special meal, and it was totally worth paying for the meal. If you only go out one meal while you’re in PV… it has to be Barcelona Tapas. And yes… the bottomless bread… so much, and sooo delicious… :)

My favourite place in all of the city. The view is amazing. The restaurant is beautiful. Our server, an older gentleman was professional. Best of all, I finally found a nice glass of wine! My husband and I had tummy problems, so we only ate a goat cheese spread, a farmers salad, and bacon wrapped dates. Everything was delicious. Prices for the tapas we ordered was reasonable. Open for lunch, and I believe the restaurant offers a happy hour. Next time we visit Puerto Vallarta, I’ll make sure to hit this place at least once.

Sorry to report that this place did not live up to the glowing reviews. It’s in a lovely location a few blocks off the Malecon, high atop a hill. The view is probably great during the day, but we came after dark. Prices are at the top end of PV($ 8-$ 20 for ½ portion tapas) but the dishes do not deliver. Granted, we just tried 2 vegetarian dishes, but they bordered on the inedible which was very much not the norm for this foodie town. Service was great, but unfortunately the complete experience was unrealized.

The seafood paella was amazing and we couldn’t finish it all so had them box it for lunch tomorrow. Bread was amazing and complimentary potato salad was creamy garlic amazingness. Awesome hillside view and the owner was fabulous. The best meal so far on PV this visit.

Celebrated our one year anniversary here! We loved it. Great food and exceptional service thanks to our server Juan. He was very professional and personable which made our visit enjoyable. We really enjoyed a pitcher of sangria, the paella Valenciana and Mediterranean salad to share. It was more than enough for two because they served bread too! Ran us total about $ 70US which we felt was fair for the experience and atmosphere. We would definitely come back here and refer our friends to check it out! Thank you again Juan!

This place was so worth the walk up the stairs to the top of the building! The view was stupendous and only matched by the exquisite cuisine and exceptional service. Our waiter was knowledgeable and friendly with a warm and inviting smile that made us feel at home a thousand miles away. The tapas were ample but not overly so. We came with medium appetites and left very full from three tapas. The wine list is extensive with a price range that follows suit. We are in Puerto Vallarta for a week and we plan to return to this restaurant on this trip! In a city with amazing food, this place manages to stand out. Don’t miss this spot, it’s a real gem.

My wife and I will be back! We came to PV at the end of August & it was wonderful. We had an excellent dinner & an amazing view of the entire city & bay with a breathtaking sunset. We started with a house salad & cheese plate. Both were great! For our main dishes, we went with the pork & chicken which were juicy & seasoned perfectly. We finished with the 3 ice cream flavor tray and a pastry dish and they were delicious. The service was excellent and the drinks were perfectly blended. Can’t wait to be back and eat dinner here multiple times!

My husband and I went to Puerto Vallarta for our honeymoon and we were aching for something a little different than Mexican food. I found Barcelona through Unilocal and figured we would make the 15 minute taxi ride downtown to try it out. Firstly, let me say the location is amazing. We get there on the corner of this steep hill and 4 kids open the taxi doors for us(they do it for fun). You then walk up 4 flights of stairs to reach Barcelona on the top floor with an unreal, indescribable view of all of Puerto Vallarta. Our server on our first night(yes, it was so good we had to go back twice in the week we were there) was very accommodating, super friendly and attentive. He had just such a great demeanor and made everything so comfortable. We had three dishes — the garlic shrimp, the grilled calamari and the goat cheese and bread. All three tapas were impeccable. The grilled calamari was cooked exactly perfect, the goat cheese sauce was so spreadable on the toasted garlic bread that accompanied with it. And the garlic shrimp came to us sizzling and hot and with so much amazing flavor. I know I really like a restaurant when I order dessert because I hardly do. We ordered the Crème Brûlée and wow is all I can say. I haven’t had many Crème Brûlées in my life but I have to say this one was what I believe to be perfectly hard at the top and the inside was so soft and creamy. Our second night we split the Scallops with Chorizo which again was dreamy. The scallops were cooked so perfectly — not rubbery what so ever. My husband and I tried Paella for the first time and split the vegetable paella dish — incredible yet again. But the dessert was even sweeter this time! We got the homemade ice cream, which consisted of three separate small dishes with vanilla, cinnamon and basil. You could taste the vanilla beans and the ground cinnamon and the basil was so savory and refreshing. All in all this place is as good as it gets — service, views, prices, food. My husband and I have eaten at some amazing restaurants in Italy, Boston and our PVD(which boasts some of the best restaurants) and we both said that Barcelona is definitely one of the best restaurants we have ever eaten at.

Who would have thought that Puerto Vallarta would have an amazing Spanish restaurant? First of all, the view is killer. Get here before sunset and enjoy yourself. The tapas portions are quite generous and 4 tapas is more that enough for 2 people. We had the cheese plate, batatas bravas, sausages and mushrooms. All were excellent. Service was friendly and efficient. Loved it!

I found this place on Unilocal and I am soooo glad we went! When we arrived all the doors were locked and we were so bummed that we had just paid for a cab to get there. Our cab driver got out of the car and started shouting up at the restaurant. The chef came outside and told us that they don’t open for an hour but they would make an exception for us! We waked up four flights of stairs and sat right on the railing overlooking the entire city and ocean. It was by far the best view of any restaurant we went to on the trip. The food is all tapas style small plates which is the best because you can order a bunch of plates to try. Here is what we had: Aioli Potato Salad: We were going to order this but they brought it to us on the house! A yummy start to the meal. Bacon Wrapped Dates: Incredibly delicious! Sweet and salty all in one. Mediterranean Calamari: Very tender but lacking a bit of flavor for us. Shrimp: Huge hit with us. Five shrimp come out in a clay pot full of sizzling oil and sliced garlic. The shrimp and garlic cook right before your eyes. Goat cheese and tomato sauce: MYFAVORITE! Skillet full of a robust tomato sauce topped with goat cheese and server with garlic bread. It was so divine. Next time we are in PV we will definitely come back here. There are about 30 other tapas plates that we want to try someday!

We were told about this place at the airport and it did NOT disappoint. All the tapas were amazing and the drinks were so refreshing. We did go back again in the 5 days we were there, and will be back when we return! the local cabbies didn’t really know where it was, so keep the flyer or google it before you go.

We waltzed into Barcelona Tapas Bar just before sunset without a reservation and snagged a table with prime time viewing. Sometimes you just get lucky. We came for the paella, and it was certainly delicious. We ordered the smaller size advertised to feed two to three people but it could easily accommodate three or four people, depending on what else you’re having. We were pretty hungry when we sat down, so we also ordered the grilled calamari, the stacked beet salad, and some gazpacho while we waited on the paella, which we expected to take at least 30 minutes to hit the table. I also ordered a glass of the refreshing sangria to sip on as the sun set. We got the beet salad first and the flavors were fantastic. Then came the giant skillet of seafood paella. We looked at each other with wide eyes and dived right in. Next they brought the calamari. It was very fresh and I liked the dish except for a sort of sweet and smoky flavor I could have done without. We couldn’t finish the calamari and we still had lots of paella left, so we cancelled the gazpacho. I hated to do it but we just couldn’t make it work. The couple at the next table was laughing at us for ordering so much food. It seems that the portions in Mexico are much larger than what we’re used to at similar trendy restaurants in the U.S. Live and learn. Luckily, we were able to fit our doggie bag into the mini fridge back at the hotel. At the end of our meal, we were presented with a complementary digestif of tequila and Kahlua, which totally hit the spot. The service here is impeccable. Our servers were friendly and most helpful. The restaurant definitely has a casual vibe but the service is on par with fine dining establishments. If you’re traveling on foot, you will have a a bit of a hike up the hill before you begin your climb up the stairs. At the top you’ll find a beautiful view, excellent food, and fabulous service. And live music on certain nights. Perfecto!

Pros: — THEVIEW. My god, it’s amazing. If you can snag a seat on the edge, you will not be disappointed. — The service. At every step, they made sure our drinks, our food, our experience was satisfactory. Cons: — Can’t say food was a con but just not memorable. Nothing really blew me away. The paellas are pretty pricy(think $ 40 in USD). Though the portion is HUGE and it was a pretty good paella, I don’t think it was worth it. I’d stick to tapas. The octopus was soso. Tips: — Make reservations! We got lucky because we got there at 5pm and it wasn’t too busy, but we had to leave by 7. They were booked up till the end of the night. — There is a bit of a walk up to the building, then up the building to the top floor. It’s a bit tucked away, and I loved that.

A wonderful rooftop restaurant with a wonderful view of the city. The service is excellent and they do a really nice job making your experience a good one. I have defiantly had my far share of tortilla espanola and the one they make is legit. The grilled salad was fresh and filled with a wonderful variety of veggies. Unfortunately what I thought was going to be the highlight of the meal the vegetable paella feel flat and lacked flavor. But overall this is a hidden gem and defiantly would go back. FYI they don’t take visa or MasterCard. Cash or American Express only.

What a great place to watch the sunset and have a wonderful meal. Our taxi driver had to stop 4 times to ask where it was, but certainly glad he found it! They brought us a potato salad to start. We ordered a pitcher of sangria and it was delicious. Started out with a bisque, and a 4 cheese plate that was exactly like the one pictured. Brie, manchego, parano, and parmasano(sp?). Served with pecans, olives, and this wonderful jelly with blue cheese. Also had jamon that was served with another cheese; chicken that was on skewers and very tender, asparagus, and ended with tenderloin. The tenderloin was cooked perfectly and had an excellent flavor to it. I know I’m leaving something out. Thinking it was dessert, but my husband only let me have one bite — yes I’m sure that was it! Everything we tried we enjoyed.
