Every time I visit Mungo Jerry, the place is almost always empty which is weird as the food is pretty decent to me. There will usually only be one or two tables occupied in the entire restaurant during dinner time so its very quiet inside. There is ample street parking available and the restaurant is air conditioned. Their bak kut teh is usually already pre-made so all they have to do is to warm up the soup. The rice does offer something special as they have a onion rice bowl which is pretty unique and delicious on its own. Top that with some hot bak kut teh broth and vegetables and you’ll have a hearty meal that is bound to satisfy. I wouldn’t say Mungo Jerry’s bak kut teh is the best but its decent enough and the location near SS2 is convenient for me as I don’t have to wait long for my food.

Mungo Jerry has one of the best Bak Kut Teh I’ve ever tried. I’ve been there many times and each visit keeps me coming back for more. Usually, when I go, I order rice, BKT soup, BKT in spicy kicap, taufoo pok, and yau cha kuay. Although I order both BKT soup and BKT in spicy kicap, at MUngo Jerry, I feel that the soup is much better than most places and the spicy kicap is pretty average but tasty. I usually request for plain pork meat but you can ask for other parts of the pig too. The service is fast and efficient as well. The price is very reasonable and portions are medium sized. A really decent place that serves up awesome BKT. A must try for BKT lovers!

Apparently there are two schools of bak Ku Teh taste in Klang valley. The Klang bunch and the Mungo Jerry bunch. Mungo Jerry has been around for ages but I’ve only been there once. My friends decided to have dinner here and I would jump in at the sound of bak Ku Teh. The crowd was massive and we were lucky to have gotten a table in a short time. My friend took charge in ordering and I just found out that there’s dry bak Ku Teh. Food didn’t take long to arrive, we have the dry and soup type and some add on vegetables. The soup bak Ku Teh is just about the same like all other good bak Ku Teh but the dry type was special to me because I never knew that it can be cooked dry. Overall, looks good, tastes good but price was way above average in my opinion. There are other bak Ku Teh restaurants where you can get the same portion for a lot less unless air conditioning is a very important criteria for you.
