Of all the bars that I’ve been to in KL, I would certainly say this is my go-to and one I like most. The only thing I don’t like with this bar is that they allow people to smoke inside the bar… However, the drinks here are better than any other bar. Just tell the bartender Alex what you like to drink and he can make you something off menu. :)

Nice speakeasy bar on the ground floor of the DoubleTree Hilton, with a sister bar at the Bangsar Shopping Centre. Nice atmosphere, with a slightly out of place pool table in the middle of the room, and very friendly and easy to talk to people behind the bar. The cocktails are original and different, but a little on the sweet side. Don’t despair if you don’t see your all time classics on the drinks menu — the bar tender knows what he is doing and can help. The bar has a good selection of whiskeys while the Bangsar equivalent focusses on white spirits. A real pleasant surprise was the Trinidad Sour, which has 30ml(!!) of Angostura in it — you won’t believe how well it works until you tried it. The complimentary truffle oil scented popcorn is very more-ish, and the salt contained keeps you thirsty — simple trick that always works! Definitely going back.

Tate has a wide selection of cigars. In fact, there is an air-conditioned room to display the cigars. My colleague was like a kid in a candy store. We had two bottles of wine and chatted the night away on leather bound couches. It is a classy & exclusive place to impress customers & talk business.

Tate is a really nice speakeasy bar at Intermark KL. If you drive, trying to get here is insane. I mean it’s Jalan Tun Razak. The customer service is really amazing. They’ll ensure that their customers are satisfied with their drinks. But I actually wasn’t too happy that the guy forgot my drink and we had to remind them. In addition, they do not allow shorts in here. Dude, this is Malaysia. We wear shorts all day every day. Okay maybe not in Tate. They’ll chase you out if you wear shorts. There’s a pool table and there’s wifi as well. There are also mini private rooms but you need to spend a minimum of RM1,000 to get the room, if not they’ll kick you out again. All in all, it’s a good bar to chill and enjoy drinks.

The first(unofficial) speakeasy bar in town, Tate might have contributed to the whole a local speakeasy movement. Styled like a gentleman club(not in a sleazy way), the bar is tiny in size. Outfitted with leather couches, solid wood furniture and antique-looking decors, we love that there’s nothing too try-hard about this place. Their cocktails menu is very well-thought-out. And behind the bar, you have expert mixologists shaking things up for you. Finding the secret entrance can be tricky for the first time, but hey, it’s all part of the fun right?

Secret Bars generally begun in Australia & Europe as underground bars. It wasn’t until recently that this growing trend of ‘Hidden bars’ hit the scene in Kuala Lumpur. Tate known to be one of the classier, upscale hidden bars located in the Intermark Kuala Lumpur. I recall a girlfriend who made me look for the entrance to Tate’s & it literally took me some time. All you got to do is find Tea 42& walk along further down till you get to the cashier where a white door with a golden handle engraved with the word Tate on it, walla there it is! There is a fine selection of specialty cocktails here alongside the standard spirits & a limited range of beers. One thing though, they carry some pretty fine whiskeys which you might not get elsewhere. I kicked off the cocktails with a crème brûlée’ sort of drink which involved eggs, lemon & bitters. It was really good, I love the whole citrus flow & the egg whites which created a creamy broth on top. Well it had to be good, this little momma cost me about rm 50! So if you wanna know how this place looks like, imagine a English old gentlemen’s club, surrounded by wooden & leather furniture in a dark dim settings. So if your looking for an intimate ambiance or an ideal place for you to unwind with some good drinks & friendly staff, tate’s is just the place for you!

I’ve been here once for some drinks before going in a club, a while ago. I heard so much about this place, so I expected to see a big pub, fancy and nice. But when I arrived there, I have to say that I was not impressed at all. The place is very hard to find because is behind a huge white door, which so sign. Once you go inside, the stuff will welcome you and invite you to have a seat. If you are a big group I recommend you to make a reservation. The place is not so big and I could say that is dived in 2 areas. One just at the entry, with some tables and in the left side you will have a poll table. Behind the table, there is another small room, like a VIP area. I was surprised to see in this type of pub a poll table, To be honest it doesn’t really go with the fancy decoration. In regards to the price, everything is overpriced. I wouldn’t pay such a huge amount of money for this place. The pub is a little dark, and is good that the music is not so loud, which give you the chance to talk with your friends. I don’t know if I will go again here. I was not so impressed by the pub.

Tate is one of the hidden gems on Kuala Lumpur. I would certainly think so for being a speak easy that is extremely hidden in the intermark building. I thought it was such a good pairing that I went to Tate after having my dinner at Beast intermark. Tate can be pretty pricey but I would think it’s worth every penny because of the environment you are in. They have little cubicles that plays old black and white Charlie Chaplin movies. There’s also a pool table further in the bar. There’s a pretty small bar in the front but it’s enough to keep everything going.

I never knew these types or bar/lounger even exist as I am not quite a bar girl but this place was pretty neat. One thing that is very particular about it is its location. Shhhh, its secret. No seriously, it is secret. Ok not secret like you can’t tell about it, its more like hidden. So hidden that I didn’t even realize that the door on the side of the huge hallway at Intermark is the actual entrance. We had a work outing once and my boss and a few other colleagues suggested this place as they really love it. Its a very small place, cozy, funky decorated and perfect for small gatherings. It has a pool table, a cigar room and small little booths with vintage pictures on the walls. It is the perfect gentlemen’s bar. The prices are a bit high for my taste but my boyfriend vouched for the wine and scotch in there so if you enjoy a drink from time to time and want something slightly different than a regular bar, than go check Tate out. Don’t worry if you miss the entrance first, the lovely ladies at the Intermark reception will point you to the right door. :) Enjoy and drink responsibly. Have fun!

Definitely one of the most high class bars I’ve visited in KL! It is located in intermark and it’s already exciting before you even enter the place because the entrance is hidden! You have to find white door’s that has no sign on it and once you open them you bump into a soldier in his armour! It’s not a big bar, but there are always people having drinks no matter day or night. You definitely have to reserve your spot in advance. They have seatings only inside, but you can smoke so it’s ok. The ambience is very relaxing and it’s a great place to discuss business. They serve you free pop corn that will definitely match your whiskey and cigar! Service is just outstanding!
