Roost is great! Their farm to fork concept is spectacular coupled with their open kitchen plan makes you feel good about knowing that your food is locally sourced and that it is prepared in a clean place. The feel is rustic dining nook making you feel at home. The place boasts a great menu(I noted lots of duck dishes), a full bar to order drinks from that include craft beers, and a great spot in Bangsar to enjoy a fantastic meal with friends or for a much needed mastur-date(date with yourself). Roost has a theme of wood and white décor that catches natural light and fills the space with a wonderful ambience of comfort. It also provides patrons with a little nook in the corner with books and comfortable chairs and a very thoughtful charge bar for electronics. The main menu has strong dishes that many of the other reviewers already touched on. They also have a set menu option for lunches, except on Sundays when they have a brunch menu available with various sandwiches(16rm) and other egg dishes(18rm). The food is incredibly tasty and the omelette sandwich I indulged in for brunch was fluffy, good portioned, and had fantastic flavor. The entrance to Roost is to the right of Chawan where you go up an adorable set of stairs. While this place is great for children, I can see how most parents might be apprehensive about carrying strollers up. However, if you can bear the trek up, Roost will make it worth your while.

This place is amazing! Ingredients are locally sourced, the ambiance is chill but still festive. I had the sea bass with pumpkin risotto and the delicious Roost Peach Tea, which is Earl Grey gin with peach liqueur. It was soooooo good!

I joined three friends for dinner here last night. As I’m simply a tourist I had no idea where Bangsar was but had been told it was like the«Santa Monica» of KL, and based on my experience with Roost that definitely makes sense. We were seated upstairs in their main dining room which is very bright with light wood floors. Once we were all ready to order we realized we were all ordering the same thing, the Sea Bass with Pumpkin Risotto. It was AMAZING. The fish was cooked perfectly however the star of the show was the pumpkin risotto. I can’t recall having a more flavorful and overall more perfect risotto in my life. This was simply great food. Not just great for the area, country or region, but great food anywhere. I wouldn’t have been unhappy paying say $ 25USD for it but it was only 38MR, just 10USD! Awesome! «At dessert time, the Jersey milk panna cotta wobbles side to side like a good ol’ Baywatch slow-mo. I subscribe to the school of creamy, melt-in-the-mouth panna cotta, but this one is too liberal with the gelatine» — Time Out KL said this, and they were right on all but one point. They aren’t too liberal with the gelatine… they’re just right. It’s one of the best panna cottas I’ve ever had, coming up right on the same level as the James Beard award winning Fore Street in Portland, ME, USA. Overall, for my share of the meal coming in around 96MR after having drinks, a great main course and dessert I was very happy with Roost. Should I find myself in Bangsar again I’ll definitely go back and try something new on the menu and hopefully get to try that jiggling pile of awesome that is their passionfruit pana cotta one more time.

Roost is fairly new but it’s already one of the best restaurants in Bangsar. You have to climb up the stairs next to Chawan to access the restaurant and if you sit in the outdoor area, it’s nice and breezy. I like what they’ve done with the space with the cute hornbill paintings. I like the concept here because they use local ingredients. The Mangrove crab claw velouté was nice and sweet, the duck ragout pasta was comforting and the panna cotta wasn’t bad. I also ordered some craft beers instead of wine, which they order from Taps Beer Bar. Sometimes, it’s nice to drink beer with your dinner.
