Marmalade Publika

Marmalade in Publika has a beautiful interior and as customary of their other outlets, also a nice play area for children. They actually have both indoor and outdoor play areas; the indoor one has lego, stacking blocks, a toy kitchen and some rockers and the outside one has a little toy house and slide.
Needless to say this café is popular with the mommy-​crowd. Who doesn’t love a place where your children can play while you enjoy a cup of coffee or a salad? I sometimes find myself eating really fast when i go out with my kids because inevitably, they get restless and don’t want to sit down. Here, I can meet my other mommy-​friends and have a nice chat while our kids pretend to cook us something in the play kitchen.
While this is a nice place to hang out with kids, I find the food to be just average. While I quite like their breakfasts (their morning benny– eggs benedict is my fave), the other offerings like soups and pastas are mediocre. Having said that, their chocolate milkshake is delicious and I would continue coming here just for the fact that they are so kid-​friendly.

Marmalade has always been one of my favorite cafes because they have very pretty interior and they also have a pretty nice location with a park right outside but the weird thing is that it closes pretty early. They also serve very nice cookies and dessert. Food is pretty average, it’s a place where I would have breakfast or lunch with my friends or family. The waiters and waitresses here are all really friendly and nice. There are a couple of waiters that were really helpful because they would recommend some of their dishes.
Parking can be easy as there are parking garages and valet for those who want an easy access to the café. There is valet parking right outside of the café.

This is my favorite café of all time and is one of the best places for healthy fare and I have been to this cosy, kid-​friendly spot multiple times and on various occasions. This visit to the Publika branch was an awesome experience. The café is located away from the bustle of the square and is a stand alone joint with a playground out front for the kids to frolic in as their parents relax by the side sipping tea or a healthy juice with a watchful eye. The food is vegetarian friendly with lots of options for meat and veggie lovers alike. Of all my visits here, I have had the pumpkin, carrot and chickpea soup that is dairy free and made purely out of purée so it’s thick and flavorful without any cream! Marmalade also does excellent salads and the oceanic salad is one of the most popular variety — lettuce, potatoes, cucumber, tomatoes, seeds, smoked salmon tossed with yogurt dressing. They also have a chicken salad hybrid with pineapple and coconut salsa, cashewnuts, cheese and honey mustard dressing. It’s an interesting combination, a far cry from a typical garden salad. They also have a variety of pastas including a cream-​less spaghetti carbonara with beef bacon and mushrooms so don’t worry about piling on unnecessary pounds here with the satisfaction of good food. For dinner, do give the lamb shank a try as the meat is well braised till its fall-​of-​the-​bone tender and the sauce is heavenly soaked up with the fluffy mashed potatoes. Do leave room for dessert, they are known for their carrot cake, not too sweet and full of ingredients that makes for a light end to a great meal.

After Marmalade Mont Kiara closed down, they opened up this branch. It is designed for parents with kids because they are located just at the ground level of Publika where there’s a park right outside this outlet with swings and see-​saw.
Service is great as the other outlet in Bangsar and you’re always greeted with smiles. Not only that, they are all well versed and will be able to provide you adequate information regarding the food and dessert that will suit your taste.
