Really fun restaurant with a great vibe. Food is excellent, but the waiters and chef interaction totally makes the experience.

Tremendously entertaining and tasty, but be prepared for a steep bill. Nonetheless, I would call Inakaya a good value especially for a business traveler in Japan who needs to entertain business partners. This is a truly excellent Robata-yaki restaurant. As guests arrive, the staff sings for you. You are seated across a «moat» from your chef/server for the evening. There is a bountiful array of fresh and local vegetables, seafood, and meat to choose from. Your chef grills it up right in front of you, in some cases putting on quite a show as he prepares it. It is then passed across to you with, for lack of a better term, a rake. The beer and sake selection is also solid, and the presentation of all food and beverages is superb. For westerners many of the choices will be recognizable; for example the excellent wagyu beef. Others will be a bit more exotic, such as the small crabs that are grilled up and eaten whole. With the array of options to choose from, there should be something for everyone. And again, the food is only part of the experience, as the servers and chefs truly put on a show to entertain you for the evening. The two cons are price(expect to spend $ 100+ per person), which can be a barrier if you are not on an expense account, and challenges with reservations and parking given the popularity.
