You have to visit this place for his beer and the experience. It’s located in a old church. It can be very noisy and the food is reasonable. But I would definitely recommend to visit it.

Is it a church or is it a pub? Or maybe it is both and I am hallucinating? No I wasn’t. Before becoming Café Olivier, this place used to be a christian church which makes the pub a very special place. It was super crowded when I went there on a Saturday afternoon and only a few tables were available. The pub has a tremendous variety of beer and the stuff seems to know them all. At least they are very happy to recommend and help you pick your favourite beer. But unfortunately the stuff knows about the great atmosphere and that people come by no matter how expensive the beer is. Thus I found them a bit arrogant and snobby. I recommend to go there early afternoon because the fuller it gets the louder it is — except you don’t want to talk to your companions.

It’s pretty good, atmosphere is also good, the waiters are pretty helpful although they had many customers to attend.

Olivier offers a great experience for the visitor. The former clandestine church offers a special touch. Service as most in Utrecht is top.

If you are in Utrecht(or even passing through) make sure you don’t miss it. The place is right next to the station with very warm welcoming staff, excellent food and wide variety of Belgian beers. The venue used to be a church. Certainly not to be missed!

Really fantastic Belgian Pub set in an old church. Great beer and drink selection and tasty fries! Highly recommended. Currently undergoing construction, so I couldn’t get the full effect of the space, but even with the construction set up it was still a cool vibe. Fun for afterwork drinks.

Great ambience. But place is always full, and extremely noisy, makes it a challenge to have a conversation without shouting. Beers are amazing and plenty, with all matching glasses. Food is OK, fries are well done

Unique Belgian beer house situated in an old church in the middle of utrecht. I discover a new great beer every time I go. Servers are fairly knowledgeable about beers that are served but the descriptions on the menu are often more informative. The biggest drawback is that it’s so popular that it’s often hard to get a table to sit or stand at. The noise level is high and you get bumped into frequently due to the amount of people there. Would recommend the kwak beer, if not for the taste then for the special story behind the glass.

This place is special. A Belgian restaurant in a former catholic church?! Oh yeah, getting drunk in front of the Holy Mary image might give you goose bumps. This is a must place to visit and even take a few pictures. The food is great specially the mussels, there are many interesting beers on the menu like Kwak and Delirium Tremens. There are small drinking tables, a big bar with counter and dining tables so it’s good for any kind of occasion. The only«problem» is that this place is so popular that it’s always full so getting a table without reservation requires some waiting and the waiters sometimes just can’t handle the demand. It’s also a noisy place due to the acoustics of the venue. Enjoy!

Talk about beer heaven! There wasn’t one Belgian beer I could imagine that wasn’t available. The bar staff was knowledgable and super friendly! Food is simple but very good, particularly this Belgian fries! In all a great experience in a super location!

What an awesome place to be during the world cup games! My friends and I ate here on my last night in Netherlands and I was very much pleased. The setting is an old church turned into a beer hall. There were a couple screens showing the games. The ambience was generally loud but overall, perfect last night. First of all, I have to suggest getting the house beer olivier tripel. It’s brewed by them and its worth it. Otherwise, they have a large selection of tap and bottle beers available. We started off by sharing the salad with goat cheese. It was so fresh! The honey with the goat cheese was so delicious that I wanted to lick off all the remnants from the plate! We also tried the Ham on the bone, Salmon Steak, Grandpa’s stew and Roasted Chicken. Everything was savory and the portion was just right. After picking at my friend’s plates, I would have to go with the Ham on the bone as my favorite. It was moist and tender. Service was okay for Europe. Coming from America, I’m used to speediness of wait staff. Here, they let you enjoy your meal and when you’re ready, you should ask to pay rather than expecting them to bring the check to you.

Fun and beautiful beer café in Utrecht located in a church. This place is very charming and the staff is friendly. There are many different beers on tap and even more on bottle. Ask the staff for recommendations if you’re not sure what to get because they can tell you what suits your taste. Good place for something to eat as well. The prices are bistro like and the food is al Belgian inspired. I had the Salmon with veggies and fries and it tasted good, but there were a lot of bones in the fish, which was not so nice. Still, I really like this place and the fries were perfect. Real Belgian fries and delicious mayonnaise as well. This is a nice place to go to when in Utrecht. For a meal or for drinks, its both pleasant.

Great place — it’s always packed from 5 – 9 in the evenings and is a quality stop for borrel if you can get a table. Really a nice jumping off point in Utrecht because it’s right off the station. It’s an old church, so the interior is awesome. Decent service and really good beer selection on tap… and wait till you see their bottles.

I love places like Café Olivier. Someone should convert ALL old churches to pubs. I would certainly go more often. Grapje Well what more needs to be said about Olivier that hasn’t already been said? Good food, great selection of Belgian beers and it’s all set within an old church. There is even a few local Utrecht beers and surprisingly an IPA amongst them which was very good. The décor is quite funny actually, since there are the religious statues along with old bikes and musical instruments. To me the entrance seemed to be a little«secretive». From the outside it just looks like an average café but once inside it opens up to a large area. Find the secret entrance and head in for a drink and/or snack, you won’t be disappointed.

Had dinner here and well, was really average. Food is not really well done. and after all the place is really really too noisy and way too hot … the fact that is such a big place does not help. French(Belgian) fries are still very very good!

We passed by on cool Saturday afternoon when visiting Utrecht. The café has a beautiful setting in an old church. When you enter through the small door of the café you are not expecting this high ceiling church look. They even have there still working organs. Café has a great selection of Belgian beers and some local for Utrecht beers. Great place to hang out and relax on Saturday afternoon.

What can I say about this place… It is located next to the exit of Hoog Catherijne. When you walk past it, you do see that it is a bar, but the outside only makes you think it is a regular bar. However, when you get inside, you find out the place actually used to be a church. They left most of the details in place and it just looks stunning. The staff was super helpful to us: one waitress saw that we were looking for a place to sit, but we couldn’t see one available. She quickly looked in the computer system and told us that there should be a place available on the first floor, next to the organ. Really happy she did point us to this free table, as the atmosphere here is just great!!! This place has a lot of beers… Going through the menu that was on the table, the majority of the pages were about different beers, each with a separate and very clear description. Unfortunately for me, I was the designated driver for the day, so no beers for me. However, I did see some familiar names in the list of beers and for sure can recommend all of those I knew(and probably the ones I don’t know are also good there :))
