Bagels & Beans

I love all the Bagels and Beans sites. But this one is particularly handy because of the location (close to the Metro station and tram stops). The service is not fast but also not slow, the staff is very friendly and it has a nice view of the waterlooplein neighborhood.

Overall I never thought Bagels & Beans is a five-​star café, however their effort (specifically their CEO) I thriving to be their best deserves an extra star.
I’ve been living in the Netherlands for 5 years now. The changes that Bagels & Beans made to their menus and their effort to a sustainable environment really impressed me. Their menu has gotten so much better over the years I’ve lived here. They’re also one of the early adopters of Matcha lattè. The quality of their bagels may not compare to some of the high end New York bagel joints but they are close.
Pros: great service, cozy personal environment, excellent selection of healthier choices in the menu, matcha lattè, location
Cons: in this specific location they do get a bit crowded at times.

Ce sera un bagel chèvre frais, bacon grillé (du vrai!), et pignons.
Le choix du pain est libre: sésame, raisin, blanc, complet, carotte, bref le choix est large!
Le service est rapide, le bagel est bon.
La salle un peu bruyante, mais la vue sur le marché aux puces est sympa.
Le concept de l’endroit semble être de l’équitable, du bio, et du végétarien, comme beaucoup d’endroits à Amsterdam.
Le paradis des gens un minimum exigeants sur ce qu’ils mangent. ;)

Schönes Cafè direkt am Flohmarkt. Da ich mit der Esskultur in Holland bisher eher weniger gute Erfahrungen habe, war dieses Cafè direkt ein Sechser im Lotto. Es gibt tolle Bagels in verschiedenen Variationen mit tollen Dips und Cremes, das mir die Entscheidung sichtlich schwer fiel. Die Getränkeauswahl ist zudem sehr umfangreich… es ist farbenfroh und peppig eingerichtet, am Tisch lagen lustige Tafeln mit denen die Touristen gleich lustige Bilder machen können. Die Fensterplätze sind super, dort kann man schön dem Geschehen draußen folgen. Ich mag dieses Laden!

Déçue car à peine arrivées qu’on nous a indiqué que ça allait fermer. Pas le temps donc de prendre une gourmandise :-(
En quelques minutes, j’ai avalé mon thé (plutôt bon) trop chaud selon mon goût pour repartir alors qu’on souhaitait se poser un peu après une longue marche dans la ville.
Bref mon avis est du coup un peu tronquée.
Mais ça avait l’air sympa.

Staffing problems– insufficient. Food was meh. Prices were a bit high. Selections were fun, but they were out of several selections on a Saturday morning. Staff obviously overworked and untrained. Lots of promise, and the coffee was tasty if dull. Lots of smokers on the terrace made for a worse experience.

On a crisp Tuesday morning we entered the bagels & beans to be kindly asked to take a seat, «we’ll be right with you.»
A long 15 minutes later we were forced to avail ourselves upon the counter.
«Excuse me, do we order here?»
«No sir just have a seat and we’ll be right with you.»
«Oh well it’s been 15 minutes and no one has so much has stopped by for our drinks.»
«Oh – » (ensue frantic scurrying to take our order)
You see, it’s fine with me when a store is generally busy – but unfortunately it was half full; The store seemed fully staff (4+) people; the waitresses walked past at least a half dozen times without even a cursory, «I’ll be right with you.»
Been backpacking in Europe for about 7 weeks now and so I’m used to the general lack of quality service, but if it weren’t for the gluten-​free bagels for my girlfriend here, I would’ve walked out. Bad enough that I had to shame the staff into realizing they had missed us sitting in the corner.
To expand further upon the point of bad service, in the 20 minutes since we have placed our order (still waiting on that food of course):
–multiple tables still wait to be cleared since before we arrived 45 minutes ago
–multiple other customers had to actively flag down waitresses in order to make an order (seriously, we are here to GIVE YOU MONEY!!)
–multiple other customers simply left without making an order
It’s not even that the waitresses are discourteous, they simply lack any manner of training allowing them to serve the customers. Just chickens running around with heads cut off.

I love this B&B at Waterlooplein. I usually sit at a window so I can watch all the people passing by. Waterlooplein is a fun place for people watching!
Like all B&B’s the bagels are absolutely delicious! The coffee is nice as well but I usually order a matcha latte :) Prices are great too and the interior, like any B&B, is cozy. One of my favorite breakfast/​lunch spots! :)

Awesome Bagel/​Coffee Shop (no hemp) — this is the place for breakfast as there are many branches of Bagels & Beans in Amsterdam!
Additionally they provide free Internet over Wifi and daily newspapers.

Sehr gemütliches Café! Perfekt zum Frühstücken, um dann ab 11h über den Waterlooplein-​Markt zu schlendern. Hier gibts Bagels, Toasties und vieles mehr — alles frisch zusammengebaut.
Der Milchkaffee war klasse. Wie normal in Amsterdam kann das Personal perfekt Englisch.
Wer im Hotel kein Frühstück gebucht hat — hier her kommen. Und wer verzweifelt Starbucks in A. sucht — gibts nur am Flughafen.
