Un peu déçue de ce marché… Je n’ai rien trouvé de bien exceptionnel. Même si il est toujours agréable de se balader le long du canal.

This is a huge flea market though not as large as Albert Cuyp. You can find new and used clothing here, clothing accessories, books, bike accessories. jewelry, used electronics and more. It’s a great place to browse and buy that certain something. It’s located next to city hall.

Not really worth a special visit in my opinion. The neighborhood is a bit tough and I actually always get harassed somehow by the vendors or someone over there. I usually pass by to go to other shops as the market itself doesn’t have anything that is really worth buying.

This reminded me A LOT of the«street-fairs» in New york that happen constantly. The same ol’ stands with t-shirts and bags and for lack of a better word, junk. for the *most* part. Still, it was nice to get to this part of town which we hadn’t been to and we were able to grab one of the herring sandwiches from our list of «Dutch traditions» to try.

Has a nice heritage but kind of average as flea markets go. Not worth a special visit but worth checking out if you are in the area.

It’s nice that the have a market over here cause else it would be a cold empty space, but it’s not the kind of market that you would expect if you don’t know what it is. Most of them are selling old stuff secondhand what means most of the stuff looks rubbish to me. But the atmosphere is good and it’s funny to see some typical old pirates selling their things.

This is a much better flea market than Albert Cuypmarkt. If you have to choose between the two, I would recommend this one. Here they sell antiques, souvenirs, and most importantly, some locally made arts and crafts.

This open-air-market is quite interesting. It reminds me of a big flea market on Venice. There are countless stalls selling a significant amount of different things. You name it and they got it! If your into second-hand vintage, touristy items, or unique handmade products, then it’s all here. I love stopping by this market to purchase some of my handcrafted jewelry. I always find beautiful and unique jewelry here, with a wide selection of prices and styles. It’s an ideal place to browse and walk around on a sunny afternoon. Plus you will run across some of the most interesting people here too. However, when your browsing, please make sure to hold on to your wallet because it’s the perfect place for greedy criminals to operate as a pickpocket destination. Although, I do believe Amsterdam is very safe, still be «smart and careful» with your belongings. These open-air-markets are popular destinations for pickpocket because people tend to focus their attention more towards the goods on sale, instead of on the thieves who are in action.

I did quite a bit of shopping in Europe but didn’t enjoy the usual chains as much as I did vintage and flea shopping. This is the catch-all of all flea markets in Amsterdam. There are tons of vendors that sell EVERYTHING, including handmade jewelery and toys, new clothing, second hand/vintage clothing(great prices on leather!!) toys and goods, tourist trinkets, cowhide bags and other accessories shaved from woods and bones of animals, used dvds/cds, the list can go on and on! Grab a coffee at one of the coffee shops(a real coffee drink shop) that border the flea market and browse. Bargaining is essential here. Be patient and don’t pay more than what you think it’s worth. Some of the finds for the price you pay are phenomenal but some of them will try to take advantage of you if you don’t speak Dutch! My friend found a second-hand Burberry trench in great condition in his size for 30 euros… although it was buried underneath a pile of crap. I didn’t have the same luck but got tons of goodies for all of my friends at home and myself for less than 30 euros. Overall, the most memorable shopping experience in Amsterdam.
