Very nice facility with a nice menu of food and drinks to choose from when coming for a performance. While this is smack in the middle of downtown there’s an ample free parking lot right next to it! We had a really enjoyable evening seeing an excellent entertainer for a very fair ticket price. Highly recommend!

This place is an absolute Treasure! I stumbled upon it searching for coworking spaces as I needed a place to work for the afternoon(Google«coworking» to understand that part, but use for more private, actual Google, results). It served that purpose in a way that was better than most coworking type places I have been to, because the environment and wi-fi was just awesome; a building with fantastic character and charm, surrounded by art, an espresso bar, juiced up on some awesome coffee and the most amazing moist and rich chocolate brownie I believe I’ve ever had. Add to that just a great couple running it, that were friendly and accommodating, with warm, welcoming hospitality that simply could not be topped. When it was time for lunch I decided to stay with a good thing, and give the food a go. I ordered a burger and sweet potatoes and received the best burger I’ve had in a very long time. Cooked exactly like I ordered, with a bun that seemed homemade, fresh toppings, and the sweet potatoes were absolutely delicious. To be honest, I wasn’t really sure when I ordered, if I was getting fried sweet potatoes or a typical mashed dish, and didn’t care because I’m a foodie and like a little adventure, but I got neither. I got what seemed like a gourmet-prepared cubed dish that was cooked and seasoned wonderfully. I did NOT expect such a treat in a burger lunch, but this place exceeded my expectations on every level, from the workspace, to the food, to the service, to the great value overall. It is THE place where I will work from when I need a space to work, take friends for coffee or lunch, or just recommend to visitors. Also, it looks like they have a performance area in the lower floor, so I will be looking out for music, comedy or other shows that might be coming there, as I didn’t really take the time to explore that just yet. Thank You Jim and Kathy!

Every other Friday, the Fiddle & Bow Society hosts a performance at the Community Arts Café(CAC). Jerry and I had dinner before the show. We started with a Buffalo Chicken Dip. The dip had tender chunks of chicken, but the meat was overpowered by the spicy cheese sauce. It was a bit too thick and heavy for our tastes. Jerry was adventurous and ordered the PB&J Burger with peanut butter, bacon, and jalapenos. The burger was exceptionally good. The jalapenos were pickled and balanced out the sweetness of the peanut butter. I had the Pimento Cheese Burger and added bacon. The pimento cheese had been warmed over the burger and was melted and gooey, complimenting the two thick slices of bacon. My side was the roasted sweet potatoes with goat cheese. They were tender and had an extra sweetness from being roasted. The goat cheese was tart, creamy and paired perfectly with the potato. A little black pepper added balance. We thought the burgers were fantastic and would definitely order them again. Twelve local NC beers are available on draft from the Taproom. Please check out our blog review for more details at .

I went here for a comedy show. The building is really cool and it seems like they have a lot of events going on. I like that you can have beer, wine, coffee, or food during your show. I got a coffee and it was strong and hot. I will definitely be back for other events here.

This is a multifaceted space and last night was our first time. I am eager to go back to develop other perspectives but last night was only marginal. Jeffery Dean Foster may be something or a local favorite but his voice is thin to the point of annoyance and Ray Morrison’s stories were stories just not very good ones. The stories Morrison read were formulaic and overly sentimental. I fell asleep during the first one. Foster’s vocals were much improved when he was joined by an unnamed violinist/singer. She balanced his whiney voice nicely. I’d love to hear her solo. The space is plain, don’t eat here there are much more interesting places to eat downtown but, and this is the but you have been waiting for, it is a GREAT idea. With the right performers and a wider audience(to many over 50s here for my tastes) more edgy programming and funkier decorations this could be the heartbeat of Winston Salem.

There are Galleries and Rooms, Offices and a open space in the middle(downstairs) part of which was being used as a forum when we were here Tuesday. Horror movie screening this week for Halloween and you may not want to hear it(I have the microphone right now) I fell in love here, almost twice in one night! Whoa!

Specially-roasted coffee, fantastic catered cooking, and extremely friendly people! The owner runs this joint as a café and coffee shop for those who are interested in the arts — all the walls are covered in local paintings, and there is an art gallery upstairs as well. It is also one of the best places in town to get craft beers, with usually 20+ specialty beers on hand. I highly recommend it!

Now this is a great new coffee spot in downtown Winston-Salem. Not only is it a coffee spot, it moonlights as a wine and beer bar in the evening! Its a family run business — run by a mom and pop and their kids — which is endearing to us all in this economy. Not only is this place excellent for a cup of joe in the morning, but they have art galleries that would absolutely beckon you with a glass of wine in hand! This place is prefect for afternoon coffee, evening dates, or business meetings for those looking for someplace special. Best new place in Winston! Make sure you check it out!
