The prices are reasonable and the staff is friendly. It’s not top of the line sushi but it’s very good.

The sushi is yummy! Great service. Salad dressing is delicious. Never had a bad experience here! The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the bathrooms were pretty dirty. My boyfriend can vouch for the men’s side as well.

We visited on a Friday night with a party of 6. We know how it is on weekends and expected a wait. To our surprise we got right in at 6:30pm. Restaurant was full but like I said no wait so we were off to a good start. Now I can guess why there was not a wait because people probably got up and left. We did not get a server to stop at our table and ask us if we even wanted waters for a full 20 minutes and we had to flag that man down he was not even our server turns out. He was nice enough to get us some waters 10 minutes later. So 30 minutes and all we have is water and a promise our server will be along shortly! 15 minutes later another girl comes and asks if she can help us. Yes we would like to order drinks and appetizers please. She states that she is not our server either but will get our order in thank goodness! They only had 3 servers and a ridiculously slow bartender in the entire place. So at 7:27 our drinks arrive. Yes I am timing it at this point because it is so uncalled for. Appetizers show up just before 8pm and we all order another drink. 4 bud lights that they literally had to pop the cap on, 1 makers and water, and ONE mixed drink! We waited another 30 minutes for this round. The table next to us of six ordered all mixed drinks before us and they were still waiting when we got ours! I am telling you this was the worst bartender in history I think he had to read directions for everything he did before he did it. Food order went in around 8:30 and was out in a timely fashion. Well the sushi anyways as it should have been we only ordered one roll a piece. My wife ordered the chicken yakisoba however and it was missing! One of the other servers literally just gave it to someone else. Another couple that had been seated at least an hour after us! So here we are at 9pm eating our dinner and waiting for my wife’s to come out, again. Long story short we were there for a 3 hour dinner! Completely unacceptable. Food was good of course that is why I gave them 2 stars instead of 1. Management and Training are completely NON existent! Would not recommend anything but carry out to Anyone and we will never go back! The worst part is they do not seem to care at all! From what I see they do NOT respond to bad reviews and everyone with a problem seems to have the same service issues.

If I could give them no stars I would. My 2 friends and I walked in at about 9pm when their signs(yes, multiple signs) said they closed at 10pm. We waited up front to be seated for about 5 – 10 minutes while multiple employees just looked at us and continued to clean up and put chairs up, a manager even looked over at us and did nothing. Finally, a girl walked over and rudely said, «Sorry we can’t seat you, we already had last call for all sushi.» We knew that was a lie because this couple walked in right before us and was sat and had their menus opened, clearly they hadn’t ordered yet so no last call was made. I work in a restaurant corporation and we would never tell someone they can’t come in if we are open. Restaurants have hours of operation to serve the people. Maybe they should change their hours if they aren’t going to serve anyone an hour before close, just outrageous. My friends and family will never spend a penny here. If you want a bang for your buck, Kanai sushi is where it’s at! If your looking for great sushi and an awesome atmosphere with an exceptionally friendly and knowledgable staff, your best bet in Wichita is Kanai at 119th& Maple! 5STARSTHERE!!!

I guess it depends on when you come in. I came here for lunch on a weekday a few days ago and not only did They did they not any cocktail but the sushi presentation was just sad, plain looking and borderline ugly. Not only that, my calamari appetizer barely had any calamari. When I came back for lunch on a Saturday, swear to god, the food tasted better, the sushi presentation was much better and They served more food. I love the coconut gigolo roll here! So yummy! I want to come back to try the chirashi bowl and either scallop or lobster dynamite rolls! Overall, love the food here; however, I would only come on the weekend now.

I used to love coming here, but the last few times I’ve been to Wasabi West, I’ve had service issues. I go after work during slower times and I like to sit and eat alone rather than get carry out. 2⁄3 of the last times I have chosen to dine in, they have completely forgotten my order somehow and I waited 45 minutes for 1 sushi roll. The first time they brought my son’s food and not mine. The first time a new server was being trained, the second time the head server assured me that it was all the chef’s fault. The last time I chose to carry out, even after waiting for a little while to leave my house I waited for 30+ minutes for one sushi roll. I haven’t been back since, and am disappointed that it is the only convenient sushi place I have to choose from on this far northwest side of town.

I would give them no stars. Their sign says they close at 10 and we walked in a little past 9 no one even greeted us and then came up to us and said they had last call already(after we stood there waiting for 10 min.) When we walked out we noticed a couple who hadn’t even ordered yet. Very bad customer service I would never go back or recommend to anyone.

Came here with my brother this past summer. I would rate this place as «ok» but I am sure there is better sushi to be found in Wichita. The sushi was decent and extremely reasonably priced. The booths were very close to the table and would be very hard for a larger person to fit into. I am quite small and even felt cramped. We went at lunch time on a week day and it was not busy at all, and the service was pretty average. Not a terrible place to visit, and my meal was good, but I would likely seek out a new place for sushi the next time I am in Wichita.

I have been here with my friends several times. My first couple of times were phenomenal. They had really good sushi and the Japanese plum wine is phenomenal. My last 2 visits, however, have fallen short. Last time I was there, we were told that there would be a bit of a wait if we ordered sushi rolls. I had no problem with this until my boyfriend got his food 30 minutes before I did. He was done eating quite awhile before I got mine. I went again today with a group of friends and it was HORRIBLE! Our waiter was nowhere to be found. One of the people in our group ordered 2 different sushi rolls and only received one. By the time we were able to flag down the waiter to let him know he told him not to even bother, as it would have been a much longer wait, and we all had places to be. My sushi rolls were not up to par. They were soggy and didn’t taste good at all. I normally try not to complain too much, but I couldn’t eat them. We had to ASK for wasabi at a place that’s CALLED Wasabi. Are you kidding me? When asked about it the waiter responded«it just depends on how lazy they(the cooks) are being.» We received no refills for our drinks. When we finally got our checks my friend told the waiter that I wasn’t able to eat my food. He gave her a dirty look and crumpled up my check. While I am grateful that I didn’t have to pay for it, I found that incredibly unprofessional. No apology or anything! The customer service was horrendous.

We ordered and waited 30min for our food and when we got our food we only got half and then waited 30 more min until the rest came, but by the end we got a good server named Sami after having a terible blonde server. Overall bad service

Bummer. After a good experience last time, my return visit really fell flat. Good: Tempura veggies and special veggie roll were good again. The new server with short dark hair(Tessa) was very friendly and helpful. She helped me when the server for my table(Sarah) basically abandoned me. Without Tessa I would have had nothing to drink and would have not had ginger and wasabi to accompany my roll. Bad: Sushi(maki) rolls served without ginger and wasabi. Server didn’t take notes when I ordered so she brought the wrong roll, and then never returned with the correct roll so I had to ask another server. When my avocado roll finally came out,(after I was finished with the rest of my meal), the avocado in it wasn’t fresh and was starting to brown like it had been sitting out a while. Ugly: My server(Sarah) never brought me water, even after I asked for it and waited 20+ minutes. I was almost finished with my meal and very thirsty when I finally walked up to the sushi bar and found another server(Tessa) who quickly got me some water. My original server(blonde young woman — Sarah) never refilled it or apologized for the oversight and for getting my order wrong. She was preoccupied with to-go orders and, oddly enough, with refilling or resetting the soy sauce bottles on empty tables. I was disappointed that the credit card receipt said my tip would be going to Sarah instead of Tessa.

Food was a 4.5 but service drug them down to a 1 star. Waitress was bad. Delivered 2 of our 5 plates 10 minutes before the other 3. Getting total order for 5 people took 20 minutes and restaurant wasn’t even half full so no excuses there. No apologies and barely visited our table. It was obvious that there was no one in charge, no true adult running the place. At a slow time things were chaotic. Too bad because I liked the food but until I hear someone competent is in charge I won’t be back.

My husband and I just moved to Wichita and we found this place whilst running errands. We both got the miso soup which was good, not amazing, but I mean, miso soup. It doesn’t vary that much. I got my spicey tuna roll and a pomtini(of which I am still a bit buzzed from) and my husband got a California roll. This is one of the best places we’ve ever had sushi, and we’re from California. As my husband moaned, with a mouth full of crab and avacado, «oh my god, it’s really melting in my mouth», and my spicey tuna was actually spicey with a burn that lingered. The rolls themselves were hardy. We were very full when we told the manager our feelings of love for this new discovery. Shortly after, they gave us this volcano appetizer thing on the house! It was very good but we were full so we got it to go. So yeah, we will now be regulars.

Just horrible service. Order was incorrect twice, with no apology. Appetizer came out with one meal and my wife’s meal was forgotten. While waiting to eat my food until my wife’s meal was done I was asked«would you like a box?» Really? The waiter also acted like he was the one being inconvenienced. It took over an hour for my wife to get her roll. Check was not comped or discounted in any way. I have been a long time customer of wasabi but after that horrible experience I’m done.

They don’t have ½ price sushi anymore, but it’s still not as expensive as other places in town. I don’t go quite as often anymore and I have chosen to go elsewhere to try other sushi places, because of the price increase. When I do go, I continue to get my usual caterpillar, kamikaze, or red fantasy roll. We always get the Japanese burrito for an appetizer! That probably the main reason why we go.

If you like rice and cream cheese, then this is the place for you. I however don’t. I couldn’t finish my plate of food. It was like eating cake batter. It’s good I you just eat a little, but eat too much and you’ll soon be nauseous. Service took way too long for what it was. Not recommend.

I wish that I could leave a 3 ½. The truth is that here in Wichita we’re a bit limited when it comes to sushi. However if I’m going to have sushi Wasabi is the place I’m going to. The prices are so competitive that it’s hard to justify paying double or in some cases even triple for the same roll at a different sushi place. And I’ve been to them all. The quality is about the same as all the others. The service is hit and miss depending on how busy they are. There really is not much of a difference between the west, east and downtown Wasabi’s, apparently they are owned by different owners. The menus are practically the same, as are the prices. The drink menu is well put together, I’ve tried a few of the martinis, try the Sriracha martini if you’re feeling frisky And now a few recommendations for ya! If you like: Sashimi /Nagiri: Try the white tuna, they spread this delightful light sauce, it’s almost soy like, that really sets it off. Fresh Rolls: Try the«to heaven» roll. Omg red tuna, yellow tail and Salomon wrapped in cucumber. This is my go to. Baked /Deep Fried: The«big boss» & «Stonehenge» ate both great options. The big boss has a few different types of fish while the Stonehenge is filed with crab.

They no longer offer ½ price Sushi although a recent news article said they would. Complete BS now I’m just going to the Wasabi right down the street in East Wichita

At first I was a little surprised to find that Wasabi West only had a three star rating. Then I got to thinking back on my experience here, and three stars is pretty accurate. We actually had pretty great service, so I can’t complain there. Our server seemed to be on top of things, and our meals were delivered fairly quickly. Our party of 7 was also seated immediately at 6 on a Saturday evening, and during half price sushi. The rolls were all good, I have to say, but my complaint is that everything seemed very over the top(many ingredients and toppings) and sweet. I’ve tried sushi from the Dillons around town, and it seemed about the same. That’s not saying it’s bad, but I just want something that I can really experience the flavor of good, raw, fish prepared deliciously and expertly. I had the coconut gigilo, which was very good. I liked the addition of the peanuts… it gave it a different flavor. But again, it was very very sweet. I also had a couple of other rolls that were good, but again… sweet. The half price deal they offered was awesome, however, and it allowed me to try many more rolls than I’m used to. Next time I go, I’d like to steer away from the fancy rolls and go for something simple. Maybe then I will be able to taste the fish, and see if this place is any good.
