Joey’s Place Ristorante Italiano

I grew up in NJ but have since moved down to VA… It’s crazy how much worse the pizza is down here! Every time I go up to visit family in NJ I try my best to swing by this place. They have absolutely some of the bets pizza I’ve ever had. I even have a Joey’s magnet on my fridge in VA just to remind me of what pizza is supposed to be. Check this place out!

Having read the «impressive «reviews, we were quite disappointed tonight. We decided on having a house salad and the Hot Appetizer for two. We recd a bread basket w warm bread and focaccia bread which was very good. The salad was fresh. The hot appetizer was served on a bed of shredded lettuce in what seemed to be excess liquid from what knows what. The bread crumb topped/​stuffed mushrooms and clams weren’t browned, but was mushy. The shrimp and clams weren’t fresh. Eggplant rollatini was not browned well enough and the cheese filling was not seasoned.
I’d also add that I overheard another patron complain about their dish to the wait staff.

Very nice place! It was a beautiful day so we sat outside which was pleasant. My sons had the plain and chicken parm pizza and I had the ziti pizza. We all enjoyed! Slices were bigger than average so that was a plus.

This is no doubt one of the best restaurants in the Manchester-​Whiting– and surrounding towns. The service is super. soup is from scratch. salads are fantastic. The pizza is fantastic also! …You always want to go back for more!

We were there for Valentine’s Day with another couple the food was selfish as always was so full after the antipasto and the calamari I didn’t even touch my dinner, took it home but the whole meal was fantastic thank again for great service and food the jones

Great place for a large family gathering with lot’s of kids. Good food and reasonable prices.

This was my first time trying this pizza place and it was great. My husband and I dined in. The dining room was very cozy and quaint. It was decorated very nicely still with a spinning Christmas tree very tastefully decorated, there was also lit matching garland along the top of the walls a very at home feeling.
Now on to the food. Our waiter brought fresh warm bread sticks. They were very light and airy breadsticks and when you put the butter on it just melted. They were lightly crispy but very very tasty almost addicting.

He had a Large special cheesesteak with sautéed mushrooms, green peppers & onion pieces. It came out on the same exact bread as the breadsticks. Again very tasty, plenty of meat and cheesey. No cheese wiz, REAL cheese. It was very good.
I ordered a California cheesesteak and I ordered the small which is 7″ and that was plentiful and very filling.
The quality of the meat was good not your super market chewy minute steak.
The portions are very plentiful and filling. I would definately recommend this place for dinner.
They even offer outside seating so when the weather is warmer definately try that.
I give this pizza business a 5+ star rating especially for their cheesesteak because all the places around where I live stink.

I visit his restaurant often and I love it every time. The staff are super friendly and attentive. They have a small, comfortable and casual dining area. Everything is clean and neat, and they make you feel like family. Really nothing like this place anywhere in this area.
Prices are a little high but fair — the Food is really good and the portions are huge, so well worth the few extra dollars in my opinion. Menu selection is just right and they will make just about whatever you want and make it the way you like it.
The Pizza and standard pizza place items, like cheese steaks, etc. are about or slightly better than average, but the dinners and appetizers are fantastic as far as Italian food goes.
Unfortunately I have to agree with many of the other reviewers about the phone orders and the pizza counter. Still not enough to lose a star over.
Definitely recommend the sit down side of this place to anyone.

Okay… so we’ve been traveling a lot this summer to different ‘hometowns’ and when we hit on a keeper, we go there quite often. Joey’s is the place to be in Whiting for sure! The food is incredibly fresh, seasoned like a real Italian meal should be and huge portions that will make even make a person with a hefty appetite throw in the towel for sure. If you are trying to watch your weight or have a special diet, they are happy to accommodate. I ordered my fish broiled with sauce on the side and it was deliciously seasoned that I didn’t even need the sauce. The service is impeccable as well. The staff knows no boundaries when it comes to making everyone that comes there feel special and comfortable. Of course on a slow night, all’s good, they give you all the space you want, but we hit a very busy night where all tables were full. Although they don’t take names at the door, everyone knows their place in line that they keep

those beautiful smiles on their faces at all times. Thanks Joey! We have a few more days in Whiting so we’ll be back and then sure miss it when we’re gone. Don’t miss this place when in the area. Let me begin with, I’ve been a customer for years. Everytime I’m in Whiting, I order from here they have great food, great décor, & a great staff. My favorite dish is the Penne Vodka which is in my opinion the best Penne Vodka you can get you can get anywhere, this is my usual order. Also there Fettucine Alfredo is very good. I must give it to the Chef’s they know what there doing, & I enjoy there cooking very much. Fantastic atmosphere! Pizza by the slice… their «small» calzone is large enough for 2 people. Great family owned local place where they seem to care about their product. If you are in the area, this place sure beats subway and the Wendy’s anyday!

Incredibly Tasty, Generous, and Authentic!
This family-​owned joint is one of the best Italian restaurants I’ve ever enjoyed. Huge portions, delicious food, adaptable to specific orders, and great senses of humor to boot.
Also, while they took the time needed to make their great food, the service itself was insanely fast. (We admittedly went during their slower hours, but I’d wager they’re just as amazing at crunch time.)
Fair warning: The «large» calzone can feed a small army.

I have been going here since they opened, yet I have not had a sit down dinner here? My go to pizzeria, good sandwiches and pies. Staff is friendly.

They give you so much good food BEFORE your meal comes that you’re almost stuffed by the time your entrée gets to you.
If you like big portions, good food and getting your moneys worth, this place is it!

I love their pizza. I live in Michigan but every time I visit my mother I have to stop here a few times. Great service and selection.

Very good white pie. Did not have a good lunch menu. Seems like they want to push dinner items at higher prices.

The pizza here was fantastic! Everyone there was super friendly even though we called in an order 3 minutes before they closed. We will definitely be back here again.

I’m giving four stars because I did not have any problems or concerns. Iv eaten here a numerous amount of times and enjoyed it each time. I like that there is a choice to be served in a nice room or at a regular bench table by the counter. The food is good, no complaints. But it didn’t impress me either which is why I didn’t give it five stars.

Stopped at Joey’s Place with my Uncle to get a Philly Cheese Steak Sub to go. The place was very busy on a Saturday night we waited about 20 minutes but well worth the wait. The cheese steak was out of this world !! I would go back again to try the pizza and then of course I will have to give another great review for Joey’s Place. By the way my Uncle has been going to Joey’s a long time and knows everybody that works there, it’s very family oriented and has many repeat customers.
