The service is attentive and not pretentious. Sushi is awesome! Large pieces of high quality fish at reason able prices. The BYOB puts it over the top. We were lucky to receive a potato salad amuse bouche. They accepted our request to substitute normal tuna for the spicy tuna in the sushi boat and tuna lovers roll.

Amazingly friendly service in this great restaurant. Food was exceptionally fresh and delicious. Had assorted sushi and gourmet rolls along with fresh salad and delicious miso soup. They do also serve Korean food here. They pay tremendous attention to food allergies here which for us is necessary and incredibly appreciated. I will be back. Nice casual spot to dine.

This is my favorite sushi restaurant. I’m so happy I found it! The prices are the best I’ve seen for sushi, udon, or any Japanese food. I’ve been here at least 5 times, and each time was pleasant and extremely satisfying. The service is great, and the owner of the restaurant is adorable and friendly. She made sure we got everything we asked for, and gave off a positively joyful vibe. I’d recommend getting the beef udon. The portion is huge for the price of 7 – 8 $, and the soup is so tasty. If also recommend coming here for lunch, because their lunch specials are really worth it. As for the sushi, I’ve only had it twice. There was an impressively large selection of rolls and bento boxes to choose from, which surprised me. It’s extremely easy to find a roll you would like, or for that matter, anything about the restaurant.

My wife and have just moved to Westwood. Our stove was broken and we have been constantly eating out. We walked over and poked our heads in and immediately was greeted by the entire staff. We decided right then that we would try the food. Well…much to our delight, the waitress helped us out with how the food was prepared. Now, from the first sip of their version of wonton soup, to the last bite of the cooked sushi and to the beef dish, that was served in a steaming hot bowl, we where in a Korean high‼ This place is slamming great, and we/I will be eating here many more times I’m glad I can leave a review, because this place is % eater friendly.

Easily our newest and most favorited sushi restaurant! And they also happen to have Korean BBQ food — another top in our household! The staff is absolutely precious. They are just as excited to serve you as you are to eat their wonderful food! The food is awesome. They have purple multigrain rice, one of the best rices for your body, that tastes delectable on sushi and with entrees. You can only go right with this place, but some of our favorites include: brown rice spicy salmon rolls, brown rice eel avocado rolls, chicken bulgogi, beef bulgogi and kailbi. Enjoy — it’s a yummy experience!

First U Crave… Then U Rave! The delivery guy was sweet not to ring the doorbell when he saw the dogs in the window and I spotted him turn in the driveway. What can I say: I don’t get to have sushi as often as I would like so when I do expectations are high. I ordered the beef dumplings, salad with ginger dressing, spicy tuna Naruto(wrapped in cucumber), The red mango roll(which is tuna tuna and mango of course). What’s a sushi dinner without Coca-Cola? Everything came clearly marked:) I wouldn’t say it’s cheap but it’s what you expect to pay for sushi. It was fresh and I had enough for next day his breakfast. The sushi was fresh, delivery was as promised and I was pleased. Will definitely get this again when I’m in the area.

I have had the pleasure of eating here several times and each time is identical… always greeted with a hello, attentive service, amazing sushi and Korean food, clean and great atmosphere. Miss Kim is so personable and always takes care of us, she is like a friend. She stopped by our table tonight and was telling us about her mother. The rest of the staff is right there cleaning your table and refilling your drink. The menu has a good variety of sushi and Korean. The sushi pizza is a must have appetizer and my favorite entrée is thw sushi and sashimi dinner. It isnt just a place to eat, it is truely an experience.

TRYTHISRESTAURANT! Yum, yum, yum, yum, YUM. Thus far, the best shrimp tempura rolls around. I have yet to discover a place with better shrimp tempura rolls. The bulgogi Bibimbap is also scrumptious. However, I don’t like that the Bibimbap is over a bed of salad. I don’t know if this is because I’m getting my orders to go, or if it’s just a lunch thing. Personally, I prefer my Bibimbap over rice. Another plus is how filling the Bibimbap is. The hours, prices and portions are just right as well. I’m looking forward to trying some of their other menu items in the future. Also, as for the service goes, the staff is pretty great. They’re overly friendly and always ecstatic to see somebody walk through the door. Everyone who is working will greet you with smiles. It’s a really nice atmosphere in general. Anyways, this is unquestionably a must try restaurant.

I judge a sushi restaurant by the availability of their selections on their menu. Most sushi spots offer«toro» or «uni» but they never carry it, I always get a «not today». This place, although they offer Korean dishes, prepares some of the freshest sushi I’ve had since being in Tokyo. And yes they carry fatty tuna and sea urchin! We started off with the otoro tartare, with a raw quail egg super fresh and flavorful, with a dash of sesame oil. I ordered the sushi and sashimi dinner, a bargain at $ 24, included: 1 spicy tuna maki, 1 California roll, 12 pieces sashimi and 6 pieces of nigiri. All the fish was super fresh and the sushi rice was almost perfect. We also ordered a negitoro and scallion roll, simple but awesome. In one night, at one restaurant we were able to try 3 cuts of Maguro(akami, negitoro, otoro)!!! The service was awesome, the staff is friendly and the restaurant is extremely clean. I think this is one of my favorite sushi places in bergen county almost on par with sakura bana in Ridgewood. Must try!

Disappointed by the food and surprised by the generous ratings. First of all, this is primarily a Korean restaurant that also serves fusion sushi in the style of Masago in Ridgewood.(see: ). I am not a big fan of Masago — but theirs is much better than this. The specialty rolls were being hawked at a promotional 50% off to commemorate their first year anniversary. What we tried was simply not any good. The toro was a grayish pink and smelled and tasted like old fish. Inedible. The so called«foie gras» roll contained no foie gras, was stuffed with tasteless negimamaki — covered in slabs of tuna and doused in an off putting, cloyingly sweet blueberry sauce. When I asked our waiter to explain how the roll got its name(my attraction in the first place) he went to speak to the chef and when he returned — said there was foie gras in the roll. REALLY? C’mon now folks. Some of us actually know what foie gras looks and tastes like. They were out of uni, which I ordered at the beginning of dinner service. Disappointing. One of my favorite Korean dishes is hwe dup bop. The greens in their version were fresh, looked nice, and the gojujang served with had good heat, sweetness and richness, but the raw fish was awful — including plenty of inedibly chewy fish skin that just ruined the texture and experience for me; like hair in your food. I couldn’t eat more than a few bites after running into the fish scraps. The eel over rice was clearly just unfrozen for us and microwaved. I expected as much since most eel served in sushi places is imported frozen — so the trick is to defrost slowly, caramelize the top with a quality soy based sauce(«unagi no tare») then char but not overcook the eel. But this dish was covered in shaved bonito flakes that had the texture of cardboard, the eel itself was soggy and the sauce never caramelized. IMO, bonito flakes are for making dashi — not as a garnish for eel. Such an easy dish to get right. Another inedible. Then they served us banchan AFTER the main courses — in two microscopically sized dishes(kimchee and fish cakes). Why??? These are Korean starters — not main course sides. We had to ask for the barley tea(served in tiny soju size glasses) — which is usually an automatic when you are seated at the Korean places we frequent in PalPark and Ft Lee. I don’t get it. At $ 75 for two(with tip and 50% discount for the rolls) this was one of the most disappointing meals I have had in a very long time. The polite servers were simply not enough to make up for the missteps with the food. Not just an off day. Someone in the kitchen was asleep at the switch.

This place is one of my go-to’s in Westwood for sushi for so many reasons. 1. The staff is so incredibly friendly — they greet you with a huge hello and sometimes even a hug. 2. The bi bim bap bowl with bulgogi is seriously… the BEST. 3. Their specialty sushi rolls are pricey but worth it. You can tell the fish is fresh. 4. Their home made ginger house dressing for the salads… does anyone else want to bring a container in and ask for some to-go? Five stars! Great vibe, friendly staff and a wide variety of excellent, tasty food!

Last night the craving for sushi set in, however, I was bored with of all of my regular spots… I needed something new. I was looking for something fairly priced, highly rated, BYOB, and most importantly, local to my area. After expanding my Unilocal default search area a bit beyond the maximum ‘local’ setting, much to my surprise I came across just what I was looking for right in Westwood, Bop & Sushi. From the outside it looks as though it could be just another storefront sushi joint, from the inside I can tell you from seasoned experience it is anything but… Although it is a storefront restaurant, they have adequate seating, I would say approximately 15 well-spaced tables. It is very clean and well-kept inside, with an exceptionally friendly staff that seemed to know all of the regulars by name and cheerfully welcomed everyone through the door. Our waitress, Kim(sisters with the owner) was especially accommodating and attentive; the service really shined! But let’s get to the most important part, the food: They have an extensive menu of sushi rolls ranging from the common to the creative and unique. We ordered Mandoo Soup(a welcome departure from the cliché Miso soup) seaweed salad, a Tuna Lover Roll, a Westwood Roll, a Negatoro Roll(Fatty Tuna), a Spicy Tuna Naruto Roll, and a piece of Uni(Sea Urchin). Wow, just wow. Presentation, quality, roll creativity and the rice to fish ratio(almost all inexpensive sushi places over-use rice and under-use the fish), were all right on point. Everything was exceptionally well made and absolutely fresh and delicious. Just take a look at the pictures of my sushi, notice the thin rice wall around each of the rolls, and larger chunks of fish! The texture of the fish within every one of my rolls was truly worthy of a higher priced establishment. They even stepped it up a notch with higher quality ginger(avoiding the commonly seen, nuclear-pink, lower tier ginger) paired with a higher grade wasabi to accompany each roll. After finishing all of this food I did not feel overstuffed as I typically feel after eating at a mainstream sushi restaurant; a true testament to the proper rice: fish ratio. I was so impressed I had a fairly lengthy conversation with Kim, our server, learning the history and logistics of the restaurant. It was interesting and impressive, however, I won’t bore you with those details in this review! If you live within 15 to 20 minutes from this location you owe it to yourself to get to this place and try it out the next time you get a craving for sushi. You will notice a difference, I promise. Not only am I am giving Bop & Sushi a PERFECT five star review for my overall experience last night, but they have taken the crown as my favorite, local, inexpensive sushi! I have four sushi places within 5 minutes of my house and I’m willing to take the extra 15 minute drive in either direction to get to the ‘good stuff’ at Bop & Sushi! P. S. There is a Cold Stone Creamery exactly 5 steps from the entrance if you are interested in some delicious ice cream on the way out!

For the quality of food I can forgive most anything. Decided to stop by this place because my wife wanted sushi. Decided that Korean food is better. Not that they don’t have fresh fish or very impressive rolls but we felt that we should get Korean dishes instead. Since it was a Saturday night we have thought we would make a reservation so we called ahead and made it. We were told that we don’t need it and now looking back I can tell you for sure it was useless. The place isn’t big enough to allow them and because it’s family run could get a little hectic when busy.(Personally I think they should stop taking reservations altogether). We waited for about 15 minutes for a table at the bar and were seated as soon as the table opened up we were seated the waitress, who I think is actually the owner of the place, offered us and brought us some drinks but didn’t take the order for another 15 minutes because she was so busy with the other guests in the dining room. So after all that she took an order and then we waited another 30 – 40 minutes for the main courses to get ready, and all of this would have in most places made me mad as hell but not here. The waitress(owner?) was great even though she was alone servicing the entire place what had surprised me the most was that all food(maybe except soups) was made to order. I mean including the side salad, which wasn’t soggy or stale like most place with fresh spring mix lettuce, cabbage and freshly sliced cucumbers(sorry didn’t take a picture). Then came the appetizers(Tacosu and Salmon Carpaccio), then came the Salmon Lover’s roll(which my wife was so impressed by that she said it really didn’t need soy sauce or wasabi(and it really didn’t), then the main courses, I ordered the Gob Dol Bibimbap and my wife Kalpi and it was awesome! The Bibimbap was done to perfection, so were my wife’s ribs. I mean the quality of food such as this is a rarity nowadays but this place hits the bullseye. So I can forgive the long wait and I don’t care if it happens again but I am coming back. Service and FOOD is worth it! One thing I would think they will need to improve is a second door during winter time. It gets cold when the door is open.

Well we certainly found out why this place gets five stars! Bop N Sushi has outstanding food, warm, earnest service, and fair prices. Four and a half stars… but I flirted with 5. I had been to the prior sushi restaurant in this location, which was fine. But the new place has far exceeded its predecessor. It’s a bare-bones, simple restaurant without much décor and with harsh lighting, but it’s clean and comfortable. We over ordered since everything sounded delicious. Here’s what we sampled: Potato salad(complimentary) — so yummy. We asked for more. I don’t like potato salad, but this was special. Beef mandoo(gyoza) — somewhat bland, but well prepared. Amarillo ceviche — delish! I think I enjoyed this more than the hubby. Very acidic, a little bite from black pepper, and assorted seafood that was chilled to perfection. I believe it consisted of bay scallops, squid, and then white fish wrapped around pea shoots. Lovely dish. Jap chae — really good. Flavorful glass noodles with lots of veggies and beef. Great deal for an appetizer. Salmon roll — decent. They don’t skimp on the fish, which is awesome. The salmon was good, although definitely not the best. Bulgogi — OMG. Best bulgogi I’ve ever had. It was paired with perfectly tender veggies and sushi rice, and came with miso soup or salad for $ 16. They flavored the meat in a way that was truly exceptional. The miso soup was average, although it was nice that they gave you a large bowl. Kalbi — OMG again! They give you a large portion of short ribs that are marinated like crazy and then cut them off the bone at the table. The kalbi had the same veggies and rice as the bulgogi, and also came with soup or salad for $ 20. Banchan — never my thing, but he loved the homemade kimchi(made by the mother of one of the waitresses). We didn’t make it to dessert, but the feast came in under $ 80. You can easily dine here for much less than that — we went a bit overboard!

I came here with a Groupon and I’m glad I did. The service here is really great and attentive. I love when places have great service. The waitress noticed every detail of things we needed. I don’t think I had to ask for anything except the check. The food was delicious as well and had interesting menu choices like a roll with foie gras and raspberry sauce! It’s a very creative menu. I will definitely go back and I recently found out it’s BYOB so next time, I will definitely BMOB.

Big big fan! If I lived closer, this would definitely be my go-to spot for sushi whether I was eating in or getting take-out. When we I walked in, EVERYBODY stopped to say hi and welcome us. It wasn’t a superficial, only saying hi you because it’s my job and I have to, type of greeting. They all seemed genuine when welcoming customers. A lot of my past experiences with casual Asian/sushi restaurants such as this one, are marked by slow service. A meal that should take an 45 mins-1 hour, TOPS, gets dragged out for 1.5, 2, even 3 hours. This was NOT the case for Bop. Our server was extremely attentive and super-friendly. Now onto the food. I ordered the Seaweed Salad as an appetizer while my cousin had the Mandoo Soup. We both really enjoyed these. The seaweed was perfectly dressed and had a notes of citrus, which was really refreshing. Combined we ordered 3 rolls, I had the special Red Mango Roll(spicy tuna, crunch and cucumber topped with spicy tuna, mango and masago), my cousin had the Dragon Roll, and we split the special Double Crunch Roll(shrimp tempura, avocado and cucumber topped with crab tempura, crab salad, crunch and sweet sauce). The Red Mango had the perfect amount of spice from the tuna and it worked well with the sweet mango. The Double Crunch was definitely a challenge to grab in one fair swoop, but worth it — really tastey! I can’t speak for the Dragon Roll because I’m not a fan of eel. All the fish was fresh, the flavor combinations worked well, the service was one point and it’s BYO! Even though the rolls are about $ 1 – 2 more expensive than other comparable restaurants, I would definitely say its worth it. Until next time, Bop & Sushi

Very nice place. Excellent sushi, great service with friendly staff. First time in Westwood. I planned to eat lunch at the café next door but they were closed. Thought I would try this sushi place. Did not rent it, I had the fire cracker which was outstanding and possibly one of the best sushi dishes I’ve ever had. I had the avocado salad which wish elegantly served with the dressing on the side. I had the spicy crunchy salmon and also beautifully served. You can tell they care for the customers, they’re food and the restaurant. Highly recommended, will return if in the area. Might even go out of the way to come back and. Eat here.

I really enjoyed this place! We came here on a whim since the burger joint had a thirty minute wait. No thanks! We dont visit Westwood often so we didnt realize it was the grand opening of the restaurant. We came for dinner on a Saturday night and we were the only group in there.(People started to come in after us.) I ordered the sushi dinner and it was amazing! The fish was fresh and the portion was large. The service was also impeccable! When we left, they also gave us rice crackers to take home as well as 30% off our next visit! They also gave us a discount on our bill that evening! What marketing! This place is great; dont be hesitant to try it! Good luck Bop N Sushi!
