Walking into Jumbo Pot, my mom and I tried to look past their subpar reviews and give this place a try. Okay scratch that, we were kind of hesitant going in because aside from 2 other groups in their, we would have been the only ones eating. All the pictures I see of this place looked delicious and wondered why so many people gave this place A-OK //negative reviews. WELLLETMETELLYOU. The service was: subpar //A-OK. The food was: subpar //A-OK. those are the two most important qualities in a restaurant correct? This place is not bad! It is what it is, it’s an A-OK restaurant(3 stars). Walking in the male worker took our menu, but he did seem a little stand-of-ish, to which I decided to ignore. My mom and I ordered a tom-yum soup with rice, which came out to be $ 24 for the both of us. That’s a bit expensive(to me) for the quality of food we received. The soup base was a bit sweeter than what a normal tom-yum base should be, but it was still pretty good //ok nonetheless. The tom-yum soup reminds me of the soup bases you could just make at home, so it was not anything special. In the soup there were minimal vegetables(bok choy, carrots, and lettuce)? The quality of the meet was not the greatest, it was a bit chewy and thick. For the both of it was the perfect amount, but my mom and I don’t eat very big portions; so for those who eat normal size portions, sharing for two people might be a bit small. I hate to compare this restaurant to boiling point, like everyone else. But I would rather spend the same amount of money at boiling point and receive better quality food and a more lively atmosphere. This place was not bad, but I wouldn’t say it was good either, it was just okay.

I love this place!!! Food always comes out super fast and DELICIOUS. I haven’t gotten a chance to try out their other broth besides Tom yum, but it sure smelled good when the table next to mine ordered the Mongolian. Definitely gonna try it next time I come back.

Close to the little Saigon area. Me and my family live close by so its not too much of a hassle and even better! No waits! I ordered two tom yum jumbo pots and they were delicious! I wish i took the picture but forgot due to hunger. Our server was a young girl in glasses and she was very nice and tentative.

I recently visited OC from Atlanta and was taken here by a friend. This is my second time visiting this establish on two different trips. I really enjoy this place. Atlanta has many different hot pot places, but nothing that taste like this place. However, the portions here are smaller than what I would get in Atlanta, but I’m not complaining since it’s much more delicious. The second time here, I came for dinner with a friend and I must say, this place is still as delicious as I remembered it. We both ordered the Thai hot pot with Thai tea as drinks. I enjoyed the Thai tea very much as well. This restaurant also offers very yummy Escargot, which I definitely had to try. I could literally sit and eat it all day; it was that yummy. Sadly, my hometown doesn’t offer such dish, so I’m a bit over-the-moon when it comes to this dish. The prices were decent for the area. Service was excellent and the staff was friendly. I will most definitely go back every single time I’m in OC.

Really? I already hate how small the portions are here, but since the soup here is pretty good, I don’t mind coming back here since their small portion actually fills me(but for the price, I would expect more.) and they had unlimited refill on the soup too. But the last time I came here, I was charged $ 3 for extra soup… First, how can you be so cheap on your portions at the price of $ 12 – 15 per hot pot AND be cheap on your broth?! I can go to boiling point for the price of $ 10 and get unlimited soup AND have leftovers. That tells you a lot on how they’re cheating you out of your money. The meat here aren’t fresh looking either. The service was pretty damn slow the last(and only) two times I’ve been here too. The soup is the only thing saving this place and it is pretty good, thus the 2 stars instead of 1 because everything else about this place sucks a**!

There are just so many Hot Pot options. This place charges per portion, and is a bit pricey, and the taste doesn’t stand out particularly. I do like the concept. Each person can get their own hot pot, with their own meats, broth, spiciness level, and noodles. However, the base price is already $ 10 – 14. If you add custom items, they are a few dollars for small portions. I tried the satay and tom yum broth. The tom yum isn’t authentic tasting, but it is tangy and good. The satay is good in a spicy way. The popping fish balls seem a little too gooey on the inside. I feel like it needs a little something. It does taste juicy. I wasn’t a fan of the mussel. The shell shattered, and there were sandy bits in the mussel that I bit into. It ruined the experience. The ca(fish) was very grassy tasting. We also tried a seafood fried noodle dish. It was crispy, and decent tasting. It was a small portion for the price, however, and the calamari pieces were tough and overly chewy. They have free iced or hot unsweetened tea with refills. It’s very clean tasting. Overall, I give this place a 3⁄5 because there are so many hot pot options, and this place doesn’t stand out.

Went here to try it since I was lazy driving to Irvine for boiling point… The reason why I’m giving this place a 2 star only because the portion for the combo is so little. I ordered the combo #4 with Tom yum which was good but it came with only 5 slices of meat. Also the grilled razor clams was good! But the size of the clams were also so small. I probably wouldn’t come back since the portions are small. I rather drive to Irvine for boiling point.

Not sure why this place was so empty, it’s pretty decent but in a bad hidden location. I ordered the Tom yum broth, with seafood & the yellow noodles. The broth was good with perfect seasonings of sweet/sour & plenty veggies that’s already added into the pot. I recommend getting the yellow noodles instead of the other options like udon or rice. The seafood however was not fresh. The fish fillet, muscles & shrimp was very uhh… fishy. Next time I would probably order tofu instead of any meat. Service here is also friendly, our waitress often checked up on us throughout our meal. Overall, I would come back.

Within the Westminster/GG area, I think this place is pretty decent for hot pot. Service is typical Vietnamese restaurant service, they take your order and then don’t come back unless you call them. The quality of the seafood and meat are pretty good, but it’s a small portion size. You could probably share 1 pot between two people if you’re not that hungry and order some more add ons or sides. I don’t like that the food comes out uncooked in luke warm broth; you end up having to wait a good 5+ minutes before you can eat because you have to wait for the broth to come to a boil. I usually get the tom yum broth; it tastes very similar to other places. Kind of a generic sweet and sour taste. If I do decide to come back, I’ll probably try the satay broth. I ordered the combo option with beef and seafood. Comes with 3 pieces of beef, 2 shrimp, 2 pieces of fish, 1 mussel and 3 pieces of squid. The beef and seafood tasted good except for the squid. It was flavorless and very chewy. I like to cook the shrimp just so it’s pink, peel the shell, then throw it back in. It really absorbs the flavors of the broth that way. The vegetables included are pretty standard. Overall pretty good taste, but small portion for a higher than usual price.

I love Oc Mong Tay and Oc Huong but I could not finish these dishes even when I was hungry. They were way below average. The hot pot was just ok. I had Satay flavor but it tasted like sauce with lemon grass flavor. Only good things are free hot tea and free sweet dessert. I have to admit the tea was so good. I love its smell.

Nothing jumbo about these pots. Who ever compared the portion size to boiling point is off point. When I eat at boiling point It felt like the never ending pot. Here I can pretty much count the number of items in my «JUMBOPOT» I wanted to like this place, but nothing wow me. The 2 female workers were not very attentive. You pretty much have to yell for the check. This place is pretty dead, customer service should be above and beyond.

The pot at Jumbo Pot is not jumbo, nor is it rich in ingredients. It is an impoverished cauldron of soup base from a package, defrosted fish balls, floating vegetables, and 4 measly slices of meat. When this place first opened, each pot only had 2 slices of meat and very few other ingredients, so I suppose they get some kudos for improving from«sad» to «not-that-sad.» Each hot pot comes with rice or noodles and an unlimited supply of sauces from a «sauce bar», which is minced garlic, chopped onions, Sriracha, soy sauce, and satay sauce on an elegant cart with wheels. The pots are $ 12.75 each, but if you are not content with 4 paper-thin slices of beef, you can get an extra order for $ 3.50, which comes with about 5 or 6 small pieces. However, by then, you could be getting a nicer meal anywhere else in the area for less moola. The service matched perfectly with the poor quality of the food. As a matter of fact, the only service in the house was the one our waitress was getting on her phone, because she spent the whole time chatting away on it instead of checking up on us. Halfway through our meal, she left the building without saying anything. We were the only customers in the restaurant. So we picked away at our lackluster pots, utterly alone. We felt like restaurant orphans. Then when it was time to pay, we dutifully yelled«Excuse me!» for the lady in the back to come take our money. It took 2 or 3 tries before she heard us over the sound of running water. With drinks and the side order of meat, the meal was about $ 20 per person which is extravagant for the Bolsa area, but it was really the quality of the food and service that irked me. The price was like extra flies on top of cow dung(or whatever the opposite of «icing on a cake» is). I don’t know how long this place will survive, but I hope they make it out with enough money to take the family to Boiling Point and experience what a hot pot is supposed to taste like. Best wishes.

Came here on a Monday during lunch and the place was pretty dead. Only one other person in the restaurant who was already eating. We checked into Unilocal to get our free Thai Tea and both ordered the Sweet & Sour Vietnamese Soup. For no one being there. service was DAMNSLOW. We had an hour lunch and ended up being 30 minutes late since it took forever for our food to get out to us. For the soup itself, at first sip, it was really sour and later I tasted hints of sweetness. Overall, it was just okay, there was TINY bits of catfish and small shrimps. Only redeeming factor is that our soup came with a choice of noodles(vermicelli, egg or udon) or rice. Their sauce station was kind of gross because the utensils were in the condiments touching the condiments(the scallions & cilantro) who knows how clean other customers’ hands are. ugh. They had a nice selection though, from: garlic, chili paste, chili oil, satay sauce, fish sauce, salt, pepper, peppers, scallions and cilantro. Overall, pretty disappointing. The place was empty and it took forever to get our food., the food wasn’t worth the wait, tiniest pieces of meat ever from any Hot Pot/Shabu place. At least our server checked on us after we got our food to see how everything was. AND there was no AC or circulation, so it was extra warm/hot while we were eating. Probably wouldn’t come back again.

Cute little Thai owned hotpot place with choice of soups and meats, similar to Poiling Point at about the same price range. The hotpots contain a good amount of mushrooms, vegetables, and udon but a small amount of meat, so you may want to order an additional side if you’re hungry and want to feel satisfied. Fortunately, the side and extra dishes aren’t too expensive. I ordered the Thai flavored soup with an additional side order of lamb and it was really good. I liked it better than the miso broth which my friend got, though hers was ok. They have a side card of spicy sauces, bbq sauce, and flavorings that you help yourself to. Also, be sure to check in with Unilocal mobile app to get a free side of Thai Iced Tea which is awesome and worth it enough to try this place out. Service was a little to be desired, and a couple of times we had to flag our waitress down to get water refills. This was annoying because we were next to another table, the only ones in there. Parking is ok, it shares a lot with a shopping center and car wash place, but there’s limited parking and we had to circle 3 times before finding an empty place by the car wash. It’s not their fault of course, but thought I’d point it out.

This place is one of those Vietnamese restaurants that seemed to have added in the hot pots to bring in customers. Also, wanted to try this place because of the nasty wait at Boiling Point in Irvine. Completely deserted on a Sunday around 2PM. The hot pots are about $ 12.75. I opted for the tom yum thai pot. It also says it has sliced beef in here but i got ONE slice. –_– and the rest fish, one mussel, 2 shrimps, and this egg cake that was filled with butter which was quite delicious. There are only 4 different types of broth. I tasted my friends choices: Japanese miso and Satay. I like them both more than my tom yum. $ 2 for 7 pieces of quail eggs. Free thai tea when you check in. Think i’ll come back once in awhile if I don’t feel like waiting an hour for BP or get more of that heavenly butter-filled ball… ***Standard Vietnamese service: take order, drop off food, then never come back check on you.

Pretty good hot pot place. I had the sate pot with popping fish balls and extra inochi? Mushrooms soo yums And a side of beef satay sticks. Everything was really good the broth, and the flavoring. There is even a sauce bar where you can make your own dipping sauce to your liking. There was no wait at all unlike boiling point. Definitely check this place out, it’s pretty worth it.

This place doesn’t quite make the 3-star threshold — there is just too much lacking in food, quality, and service. The first thing I ask the server is to tell me the difference in flavor profile between two of their hot pots, and she couldn’t tell me something as simple as sour/sweet/salty/spicy. Not to mention the English is pretty horrible here and without descriptions on the menu you might end up completely lost… So we pretty much went forward blindly with 3 types of broths: Tom Yum, Vietnamese, and Miso. The ingredients in the pots were mostly vegetables(and so few!), which in my opinion is very highly priced for what you get. Flavor-wise, none of them stood out as being particularly great. My tastebuds were also severely destroyed by a pot that was supposed to be spiced«mild». The side dishes were small and a bit expensive for the portions you get and the sliced beef was nowhere near the quality of the hot pots and shabus that I’ve been to. We also ordered the egg rolls(best menu item I had there) and fried chicken wings(not so good). At least the Unilocal check-in gave free Thai iced tea, but that even was a small drink with too much ice if I were to have paid for it. May be worth trying once for it being a uniquely Vietnamese-style hot pot, but I didn’t feel it’s worth a second visit. If you do go, bring a jacket — they keep it quite chilly in there.

I been driving by this place every day and always wondered if it’s good. Finally decided to go despite the okay reviews. I’m glad I did. It’s located on Brookhurst and Hazard behind the car wash. We went with s group of 5 and ordered two hot pots. Prices are $ 12.75 per pot and they each comes with one side of either rice/Vermincelli/noodle/udon. The Vermincelli is actually the clear noodles not the white noodles. They also have a sauce bar where you can get extra sauce like soy sauce, 2 different satay sauces, fish sauce, Sriracha and a few other sauces. There is also fresh green onions, cilantro, chopped garlic and chili. Each pot already comes with veggies, seafood and meat but if you want extra toppings, they are $ 0.50-$ 2.00 each depending on what you get. We ordered the Satay and Tom Yum soup because of the waitress recommendation. The soup I liked the most was the Tom yum soup. The Satay soup was also good but the Tom Yum was perfectly spicy for me. I can’t eat too much spicy though. The Tom Yum soup was perfectly sour with lots of veggies. I do wished it had more meat and fish balls but I guess you can always order more if you want it. Also, you get one free Thai tea with your Unilocal check in! Water and ice tea here is free too! Usually when we want hot pot, we would go to The Red Pot that’s $ 20AYCE(All You Can Eat) but that’s too much food for me do here is fine and its right across the street from my house =) I would recommend this place to my friends to try. It’s like boiling point but you get a bigger pot and the soup doesn’t come out boiling so people who doesn’t like their veggies super soggy, this place is better. I love to take my time eating my hot pot and since it doesn’t come out boiling, I can enjoy it better here. I would like to come back and try the Sweet and sour traditional Vietnamese soup here next time though.

I liked Jumbo Pot. Place is a recently opened establishment which means no wait list like Boiling Point. They have 5 different flavors to choose from the menu as well as add ons & appetizers. I really enjoyed the ‘Satay’ flavor. If you decide to choose the ‘Tom Yum’, keep in mind it is flavorful. They have a small sauce bar to the right of the front counter, where you can spice it up! Their home made soy sauce is bomb. Service was good and I have no complaints.
