Orange, CA
I like this place a lot. The food is as good as any but the service is better than most. The place is homey and I like the soft instrumental, sometimes classical music, not the blaring music like other Vietnamese restaurants. The host, Mai, is gracious and friendly, and the service staff is very polite, not like at the other restaurants. The place is also always clean. I love coming here for quiet time and homey good food any day. I think this is a rare gem in this busy «Bolsa» environment.

It always feel like coming home whenever I go to Tan Hong Mai. I have been dining here on and off for 8 years. The owner and employees are always nice. The food is pretty consistently good and prices are fair. I keep coming back because I don’t taste the MSG like at other places. Please always keep food healthy and fresh like you always do.

I love the Bo luc lac here! It’s my favorite bo luc lac restaurant. The bo luc lac is flavorful and authentic. I love how they serve it with rice and fries. You can also get it with soup and salad also. This restaurant is a little cheap when it comes to ketchup, but whatevers. The portions are huge too!

My parents took me here for lunch and told me their best kept secret is their chicken. It is prepared in limited quantities and only offered right when they open their doors for business. My parents ordered the dark meat chicken and a bowl of Phở for each of us and boy did it satisfy my cravings for Phở. MMMmmmmmMMM! Their ginger-​sesame fish sauce for dipping the chicken pieces in was also a tad different than other places I’ve been do, but the taste grew on me after each bite. I shall definitely return even though the price tag is a little more than the 50% off prices I’m used to from other places, but the freshness of the chicken and the Phở is well worth it to me!

I went in there today with mother for lunch and the experience was truly underwhelming to the say the least.
We ordered Banh Uot and found a piece of hair tangled in between the rice sheets. We showed the server and rather than taking our plate back to the kitchen, she just brought us some extra rice sheets. There was no apology for the incident — just some extra sheets to supplement our meal with the evidence staring back at us during our lunch.
Additionally, we ordered a small catfish for rice paper rolls and the price was not listed. I was expecting the price to be about $ 20-​$ 25 but saw that the price on the bill was $ 39! Way overpriced if you ask me for what we received.
The service just added to the terrible experience. The restaurant was not busy, perhaps 2 – 3 other tables were present during our late lunch, and the service was exceptionally slow and not friendly at all.

I ordered 2 chicken plates with chicken thigh but when it came out, only one correct, the other one was not a chicken thigh so I was asking them to change it to me. After waiting a long time, they brought me a different plate but the chicken was so red and still too cold… They also did a extra charge on my plate. They said it’s because that the whole thigh. That how some Vietnamese restaurants (not every restaurants) do their business… Always try to charge extra money on customer bills.

I frequently order their steam fish to-​go and it never disappointed me until today. Fish was smelly, dry and seemed like it was baked ahead of time left to be re-​heated. It was the most unappetizing meal I’ve ever had and didn’t want to force myself to finish it. Quality of their food has definitely gone down and I’m sad to say I will not spend another $ 30 to give them another shot. Will not be a repeat customer.

I’m not really sure how fancy you can get with Banh Cuon but I guess this place satisfies the cravings I have to banh cuon. I usually get the combo plate which just has all the varieties of banh cuon. I’d probably give this place 4 stars if they made everything look a bit more appealing. The food is good and portions are decently large but nothing really stands out. Still my preferred place to get banh cuon though.

Grand Uncle introduced me to this place on a weekday breakfast. He told me that the banh cuon is freshly made. It was delicious. I think I should have ordered two portions for myself since it will be a couple years until I get to visit California again.

Well I have been to this restaurant before, but this time around I am typing up my official review about this restaurant. This restaurant is easy to locate, same business section with the other restaurant that I normal go to, ohhh the convenience kaka
The size of this restaurant is quite bearable (tolerable); so don’t expect anything fancy because it isn’t a fancy establishment or a hot spot or a crowd attraction.
I went to this restaurant because I heard that they have a recipe call Com Ga Nha Trang = Nha Trang Style with Chicken and rice. What is good about this recipe? It isn’t from the chicken, but the fish sauce that is the selling point of this recipe. The name Nha Trang is devrived from an actual city in Vietnam, a very beautiful central coast of Vietnam. Nha Trang is one of the hot cities for tourists from all over the world. This style of sauce is a replicated version of the sauce that you will find, if you travel to Vietnam some times in the future.
The key word is «style», give it a try. One thing that I need to mention is that the rice wasn’t quite enough for my tummy. Maybe I was hungry hehe. So give that recipe a try to see whether I am correct or incorrect.

This place being in a busy complex makes parking hard to find during the peak hours.
Walking into this place I wasn’t too impressed. The décor is odd and they’re quite unorganized. I could do without the music as well.
15.00 minimum to use your card, no Amex.
6 or more people entitles them to a 15% gratuity/​service charge.
I sat down for no longer than 45 seconds before the server came over and tried to take my order.
I appreciate the fast service but as I’ve never been here before I didn’t know what they had to offer and it was a bit offsetting.
I have to admit, their menu is a bit weird, but seeing as it’s a «fusion» restaurant I guess it’s understandable.
Most of their dishes come with a little side salad in some grossly looking older than the place itself old plastic bowls.
I ordered the rice with steak, French fries, soup and salad, number g17 I believe.
They didn’t ask how I wanted the steak cooked, so I got it pretty close to well done. The soup was basically boiled water with broccoli and salt.
Okay food, but not a place I’d go out of my way for.

I came here yearssss ago and always got their steak! It was good then but I havent tried it recently.
HOWEVER!
I got the Steamed Fish and it was pretty good! I was scared I wasnt gonna like it but it was good. I still like the Crispy Fish still because of the cripsy skin. Other than that its basically the same thing
The Bo Lu Lac was yummy too. It came with rice and salad.
Bo Cuon La Lot was good too! Drinking food! Its beef and seaweed? It was delish
Probably come back to try the steak someday

If you are looking for Incredibo Steak, they have Incredibo Steak here at this place. For $ 10 you get a steak ($ 16 for 2 steaks), corn, French fries, and a salad. Pretty decent steak, not Morton’s or Maestro’s but hey it’s $ 10!

My boyfriend and I always come here whenever we want a steak meal. We always order the IncrediBO platter and it comes with a decently portioned piece of steak, corn, french fries, and a salad.
The steak is just alright. It is usually more cooked than I’d like for it to be (i always order medium-​rare, but it comes out more chewy than I’d fancy)… I don’t really taste any flavor on the steak. Honestly, I don’t even think that they season it at all… which is why the A1 steak sauce and Sriracha is always a must when I come here.
The corn and french fries are basic. Corn tastes like they just opened and drained it from a can. The fries are dank. Fries are always dank. Omnomnom. But they do tend to overcook it where it’s more like thick chips than french fries.
The salad is pathetic. LOL. It’s the most basic thing there. It’s literally just cut up piece of Hearts of Romaine lettuce, 2 pieces of tomatoes and some thinly sliced red onions. I’m not sure if they toss some sad dressing on it, but I don’t taste anything.
Oh, and we have to order Ranch on the side.
Maybe I’ll try something else next time.
