This place doesn’t look like much, but the donuts are really good, consistent and the guy behind the counter is friendly. The apple fritter and chocolate chip square are my favorites.

The croissants are awesome. I came in when a fresh batch came out and they were soft and flakey and hot. Plus the lady I’m assuming it’s Heidi is super cool and sweet. Nicest donut shop lady I’ve ever met and so cheery. I came in the afternoon and they were out of chocolate bars though but I still got my donut fix. Bring cash because they chArge s fee to use cards. Scratchers are plentiful there too

Heidi’s is a small donut shop located off of Springdale and GG blvd, located in the same area as the ice skating rink you can see from the 22 fwy. As you walk in you can just smell the croissants cooking, and following super-yelper Steve S’s lead I ordered some ham/cheese and blueberry croissants, which were just delicious. The blueberry croissants also had some cream cheese inside of them, and it was balanced perfectly. The ham and cheese croissants were really good as well, although I did wish there was some more ham inside of them! The donuts that we got were good as well, although I think I would come here for the croissants. The owners were super friendly with a sense of humor; I am looking forward to coming back when I have the urge for croissants!

Listen to the owner, I’m glad I did. I was just going to get a cup of joe to warm up before going to the ice rink next door, when the owner said try the croissant. No thanks I said. He insisted again. So I said okay, give me a ham & cheese. He said«NO», Try the blueberry Then he said the magic word. It’s fresh off the oven. Ding ding ding. Here’s the rundown: Blueberry & cream cheese croissant was DELICIOUS! The croissant was flaky and the blueberry & cream cheese were a perfect combo. Yum! Ham & cheese croissant was good, but the blueberry one was much better. Baked apple fritter, WOW! Even though it’s baked the putter edges were still crunchy with the apples still tender. Yum Yum! Blueberry donut was smaller than what I’m used to. But don’t let the smaller size dissuade you, it’s packed with blueberry flavor and delicious. The coffee & mocha cappuccino were just okay. It’s hot and it was perfect to warm you up in the ice arena. Lol. Service was super friendly & helpful. Price was reasonable. Parking is abundant, it’s a big plaza. I’m glad I listened to the owner. He knows what’s fresh and promptly recommends the best product he has. That’s why I love mom & pop joints =) 2015 Review #164

First time here and word to the wise, make sure you specify the kind of croissant you want because I found out after I got home that jalapeño and cheese is exactly that, no ham. It was flat and not flaky at all. I realized later that what they did was cut open a plain croissant and stuffed it with cheese and jalapeños. That was super nice, but not at all what I wanted. Aside from this, I also picked up some donuts and my family agreed that we’ve had better. Great service, very friendly, but with how many donut shops there are here, I’m not sure we’ll be back.

Heidi’s is your classic neighborhood breakfast stop. The lady there remembers every face that walks in. A lot of items sell out here, so there is usually fresh one being put out regularly. They have a lot of breakfast options, & croissants are definitely something to go out of your way for. Also, of all the shops in the area, they have the best coffee available. If you’re passing through, or have some time you need to occupy, I would suggest popping in & grabbing yourself a morning/mid-day snack.

Been coming here for years. The donuts haven’t made me sick, gag or die yet. Older Asian couple who are super nice and make good conversationalists. I enjoy my time while there and usually try to avoid spending too much on lotto tickets. Those seniors in there spending their pension checks on lotto tickets just litter the floor with scratchers dust. Lol. Once in a blue moon they’ll run out of the donut I want but its OK. It’s the universe’s cue for me to stop being a Captain Fatass.

Holy cow the croissants here are amazing. My wife had to fly out for work in a few hours and wanted something easy to eat for breakfast. I saw pictures of the ham, cheese, jalapeño croissants on Unilocal and though they were perfect size since they looked really small in the pictures. WRONG! These are massive! One croissant took up almost an entire dinner plate! They just came out of the oven when I arrived and the aroma was mouth watering. For $ 2.50 it had a nice amount of ham, cheese, and jalapeños. Donna and I both loved them! Per the sign they had sausage croissants too. Yum! Besides I was looking at so many amazing donuts I purchased a apple fritter which I cut in half to share. Not greasy or dense, very light with a strong apple taste. Wasn’t as good as «Best Donuts» in Stanton but it definitely comes in second place. The owners were extremely friendly and the place is always packed.

Heidi’s Donuts is the kind of place that defines the Sunday morning Donut Run. (You know, that’s when you dash off to pick up a few donuts when you realize you’d woken up too late, and you’re out of buttermilk anyway. Sorry babe, no pancakes for you!) «Hole-in-the-wall» is a perfect summary of the interior appearance, bringing to mind all the little dives that have somehow managed to hang on for a matter of decades, despite a general lack of décor, ambiance, or any kind of advertising; it’s how you know that the food must be pretty good — or at least, good enough for the price. Yes, Heidi’s donuts are that. I would compare a Heidi’s experience to the Donuttery in terms of store dinginess. As far as quality of donuts, Heidi’s is a notch less outstanding. . Recommended: the cream cheese squares and the croissants that are filled with cheese and deli meats — they keep those warm and toasty. Now THAT’s comfort food! Also, their custard-filled donuts appear to have decent custard inside. Otherwise, the donuts are fresh and good but not particularly noteworthy — just worthy enough for that last-minute dash to get breakfast goods, and better than anything else that Westminster has to offer at an early hour. I like the lady at the counter(one of the owners?). Good service, nice attitude. I hope God continues to bless this little family-run operation.

When a good friend of mine claimed that Heidi’s Donuts’ Ham and Cheese Croissants were superior to Seaside Bakery, I was skeptical, but more than excited. Once I trekked over and ate one, I drove to my friends house(25 miles away) and slammed the half eaten croissant sandwich on her table and said: «AREYOUFREAKINGKIDDINGME?!» Yes, that actually happened. But no… these croissant sandwiches weren’t terrible. I just feel anyone making that proclamation should be roasted. Lol Sorry Sherry J. At $ 2.50, you can receive a pretty well-sized croissant that has minimal amount of ham and cheese. The jalapeño is integrated inside the ham too. The main difference between Heidi’s and Seaside? Almost everything. At Seaside, the cheese is overflowing and the ham are thinly sliced but bountifully packed inside. The croissant is doughy and fluffy too. Heidi’s does a respectable job, but pales in comparison to the infamous bakery in Newport. —– Conclusion: In a time crunch and if in the area, I wouldn’t mind eating it again and trying the donuts. Located in the Ice Palace plaza and next to Posse Bar, this spot closes daily at 8pm, except on Sundays when they close at 6pm. Extra Notes: –Accepts credit card –Décor could be changed to make it more inviting and lively –Tables were visibly dirty –Owners/employees were a little pushy, but accommodating –Parking isn’t a problem –Restroom available upon request

Maple bar was good. Fried perfectly and the maple wasn’t overpowering like Dunkin makes theirs. However the orange icing on their one donut was so-so. It was interesting… I’ll give it that… but just so so. The breading was good though. My wife got a glazed cruller. The inside was still pretty doughy and a little raw. The flavor was good… but like I said, raw. 3 stars because of the maple bar alone.

I have two donut shops right by my house. Both suck. Not all donuts are created equal. This place is so good! Their maple is amazing and they have maple donuts that look different that the others. They are slightly thicker but not cake donut thick and the outside is crunchier. AMAZING! And they have this square cheese thing. Try it!

Great donut shop! I took my daughter here after turning to Unilocal reviews. It wasn’t too far from our home and worth trying. LOCATION: Right off Springdale next to the large Ice Rink. Plenty of parking and right on the corner. Clean and well laid out. STAFF: Very friendly and helpful. The lady working was very patient as we attempted to pick out a random dozen. FOOD: Very fresh food. The donuts were softer then any I have tried. We got a dozen donuts and a small chocolate milk for $ 10.50 Great place and we will go back for our donuts here.

My brother and I have been hitting up donut shops from Seal Beach Blvd down to goldenwest on the east side of the 405 for some time trying to find the perfect apple fritter. Some had good size but were burnt or to too sweet, others were good tasting but have horrible size and so forth. I drive by this place daily but have never stopped. I Tried this place today and I must that their fritters are the best that I have ever soberly tasted for little ma and pa donut shops. Owner and his gf were also super nice!

Loved this place. The little tiny lady behind the counter was very informative, friendly, and patient with me. I came for a turkey and cheese croissant, based on the reviews… whoever said it rivals Seaside on the Peninsula was false! Maybe I just got it at a bad time, but it was nowhere near the perfection of Seaside. Now you’re probably wondering why I gave it 5 stars, it’s a donut shop, not a croissant place, so the perfect score is based on the 8 donuts I ordered. There was a good selection, I ended up with 2 french(chocolate and crème), a maple claw looking thing, chocolate sprinkle, orange, classic twist glazed, cinnamon, and at her recommendation a cream cheese pastry. They were all great. My brother is a maple bar fiend, he said the maple claw thing was better than a maple bar, it had a bit of a crunch to it and all the amazing flavor. The cream cheese pastry… she wasn’t kidding when she said it was their specialty! I loved it. Wasn’t too sweet and it wasn’t too flakey. It was just the right consistency and taste. Melted in my mouth, took every thing I had not to eat the whole thing. I’ll definitely be back for that. The rest were very good as well, but those were my two recommendations.
