I don’t really post negative reviews, but this was one of the worst experiences I’ve had. The server seemed inconvenienced that we were even there from the start. She got our drink orders wrong and was short with us when we asked for the correct drinks. The eggs in 2 of our dishes(The Tobe Scramble) were completely raw. When we pointed this out, she did not apologize. She just asked if we wanted something else. When we said no, she said she’d just take it off and then left it in front of us. No apologies or a even thank you. She just brought the check and walked away.

In the heart of downtown Watkins Glen and a block off of the main street is your old fashioned greasy spoon for breakfast. The menu is pretty simple — eggs, pancakes, sides — but what really makes this place is their home made donuts. There’s nothing quite like a home made sour cream donut that you can dunk in your morning coffee or tea. But the donuts here are so good that I suggest you don’t dunk them in anything and just eat it!

Tobe’s is a little breakfast spot right in the middle of downtown Watkins Glen. We recently went to the Glen for a wine tour and we stayed in the hotel across the street from Tobe’s so the location was great. The breakfast was fine, it’s diner food, nothing spectacular, nothing bad. We ate here two mornings in a row because the food was fine, came out quickly and was so close! Both mornings I had scrambled eggs, toast and home fries and they were good. A couple people in our group had doughnuts and said they were awesome. When we come back to the Glen I’m sure we will be back to Tobe’s.

Tobes Ice Cream = A-OK Fun, flavorful, big. This place has plenty of soft serve options and hard ice cream flavors. I really liked their ice cream because it was creamy and actually had bits of flavor in it… it felt real and homemade, not like some mass-processed ice cream with super tiny bits of strawberries/chocolate/whatever. Careful what you order, though. A small scoop here is 2 scoops, not one. Great value, because it’s about $ 3. But huge. There’s picnic tables outside, and a park across the street, or a nice little town to stroll into whilst working on your cone…

Went here for breakfast when we were touring Watkins Glen. I really hate to give bad reviews, but this was not a good experience. The service was terrible, our coffee was brought out and there wasn’t enough. The waitress poured half glasses, gave us no silverware, and disappeared. We had to go to the front counter and get a straw to stir our coffee. I ordered a blueberry pancake. It was total mush in the middle, not even close to cooked. Oh, and they only had forks, which we had to ask for. The only redeeming quality was their donuts… they were good.
