I went here on a sunday for the drag show brunch to celebrate my friend’s birthday. It was my first experience and I found it to be quite interesting. They have a strict policy for reservation and seating. The entire party should be there to be seated and they want you to be there half hour before. The buffet is descent, offers traditional american brunch items, and enough to choose from. My least favorite items were the steak and waffles. The service was good and the servers were attentive and respectful. The manager was walking around to make sure everything was right. The show was funny and interesting. You should have singles with you for tipping but if you dont have, they offer you singles in trade of bigger dollar bills. The only turn off was this granny MC that i’m not sure why she was on the show. People seemed to be unimpressed by her rude comments and unattractiveness. She is old and really scary, and her language is offensive. The rest of the dancers were good and fun. I’d suggest you go if you are into fun and open. This is not the environment you’d go if you are not cool with this type of entertainment and you are uptight(There were people who seemed uncomfortable).

Best Sushi in DC! I have been going to Perrys’ for many years now and it has never dissapoint, especially in summer time when you can enjoy the roof top and the nice views.

Perry’s has become my go to sushi spot in the DC/NOVA area! Authentic and delicious and great value. I’ve had the nigiri sushi omakase as well as the sashimi omakase. In addition, I’ve had the ika yaki — grilled squid and the sunomono with octopus. For the nigiri, the fish to rice ratio is spot on. Omakase for both options include rare and delectable fish. I can easily see other restaurants charging $ 100 whereas they charge half that. The only downside about Perry’s in my opinion is the service. On multiple occasions, servers have been unable to answer my questions about the menu and have even lied to me. I think management should spend more time training their servers. 5 stars for food, 3 stars for service.

This review is for the Sunday drag brunch. AMAZING is the main word that comes to mind. You have to experience this show. $ 25.95 includes food and entertainment which is a great deal for the amount of selection they offer here. Eggs, Waffles, sausage, bacon, steak, etc. Try to get a seat closest to the food bar, it seems in the way but you won’t regret it.

An enjoyable, no frills sushi restaurant with great service and great ambiance. Our table ordered chirashi, several sushi rolls, and a fried tofu in dashi udon dish. Everything was good! The fish and chips roll was especially delicious. Nothing missed the mark, which made us all very happy because so many sushi places in the city are a rip. Our server was also particularly nice and attentive. He accidentally delivered the wrong beer and gave us the right beer on the house. That’s the best way to show hospitality. Everyone that worked there was attentive and friendly, but not over doing it. Other places could really learn from the top notch service at Perry’s.

My sister moved to DC for a Fall Internship and she practically lived at Perry’s from August-December. I was here in December and I was fortunate enough to get to experience what all the hype was about! First off, the hostess was really nice and put our name down, the wait wasn’t bad for a saturday, about 30 mins so we went up to get a drink at the roof top bar. The roof top bar was very cute and they had lights up for the holidays and the bartender was awesome! Their custom drinks are very unique and have an asian twist. The one we ordered came with an oragami bird! We met some very lovely people that were from out of town visiting for a wedding and the general crowd was fun and friendly which is a huge change from most NY places lol. I did like this place though because it attracted more of a mature and classy crowd as oppose to the other places in the area that are filled with college kids. We were lucky to be seated in Kristen’s section, my sister’s favorite waitress! Kristen was amazing! She not only remembered my sister but remembered her usual drink and food order and was nothing but professional and kind. She was also very funny and went out of her way to accommodate our annoying requests lol. She also made us a very awesome mango sangria drink that wasn’t on the menu and it was perfection. As for the food, we ordered tuna tar tar to start which was fresh and light. So good! Followed by a fire cracker, pink panther and element roll. The rolls were all delicious and everything super fresh! For dessert we had mochi which was also perfect. Everyone MUST go to this place if you are in the area it’s really awesome and the ambiance is great! Make sure to ask for Kristen, she was the highlight of the night!

I came her for the Drag Queen Brunch on Sunday morning. We made a reservation for the 10am seating about a week ahead(where they inform you very clearly that if you don’t come your credit card will be charged — just an FYI for everyone). If you do not make reservations, I suggest you get there at least by 9 am to be the first in line. We showed up around 9:20am and there was already a line. Our seats were very comfortable, we were lucky to get to sit on some nice couches, and were able to relax. The food is normal brunch, served buffet style. The line for the buffet does get long at times, but it moves pretty quickly. Either go right at the beginning before the line, or just order some drinks and wait until the line calms down. The performers don’t come out right away. We had time to go up right at the beginning, and the wait for the line to settle, and then go up again to have something to munch on during the show. It is normal brunch food, nothing crazy — eggs, muffins, waffles with some extras thrown in like fried chicken, teriyaki steak, and sushi. All of the food was solid, if not amazing. I most enjoyed the food that the restaurant is actually known for — dumplings and sushi, more than the breakfast fair. But you aren’t here for the food are you? Let’s discuss the drinks and drag queens. The waiters here were very helpful, friendly, and very efficient, they clearly have been doing this a long time. Order a pitcher of drinks and enjoy the show, we each ordered 1 round of regular drinks, and then smartened up and got two pitchers. All of the drinks were very tasty, normal brunch drinks including different variations of mimosas. The Queens are hilarious! Each girl does two songs, with a full costume change for each. There is a few minutes in between in case you want to get more food. They are all really lively and make their way slowly around the room. Tip — bring $ 1 bills with you so you can get pictures and perhaps a special dance! There is a host that will give a show out to anyone celebrating anything. Overall, it was a great way to start the day with friends or celebrate something special! What a great time!

The food was absolutely excellent and the staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and very helpful. All in all an awesome experience. The sushi is well prepared and very fresh, with excellent presentation. The BBQ skirt steak and miso black cod were stand out delicious dishes. The drinks were as tasty as they get, well prepared, and unique/interesting. Definitely will be coming back here!

We went to this restaurant because it happened that the other restaurant we wanted to go to had a cleaning night and closed an hour early. We went there because of the ratings but it was a disappointing experience. The sushi was the worst I have had and the fried chicken was just not edible! Overall we came out very disappointed. Our server was nice though, and he even gave me a free miso soup cuz my husband ordered one and I didn’t. :) Anyhow, I think most of the ratings are for the rooftop, which was not an option for us cuz it was 30 °F outside!

I feel bad for the kitchen, the food is great but the service is abysmal. I specifically mentioned to our waiter that I have a gluten and dairy allergy. The salt and pepper chicken I ordered was super rare, I had to send it back to the grill. Identifying gluten and dairy free options was tedious and difficult. My food was served well after my friends at the table. I felt objectified and excluded because of my allergies.

Came here twice when I lived in DC, Saturday brunch vs. Sunday brunch. Saturday brunch was pleasant and we got to enjoy the weather and overall good food. The coffee could have tasted better though. Sunday Brunch aka Drag queen brunch was the best time. I came twice with friends and my mom(she embraced) but we left with good food, good memories, and even a good buzz. Like many fellow Unilocalers mention, you receive decent food but not gourmet.

I am thrilled to try their food after I came to the rooftop. However, experience doesn’t live up to expectation. Made a reservation at 7:30 on Friday night. Place was crowded. So make sure you make reservation if you come during busy evening. We were quickly seated and the waiter passed the menu to us. We took a while to figure out what to order. Here are the items we tried: chirashi bowl, tuna tartar, seaweed salad, and teriyaki salmon. To be honest, tuna tartar is the only item that stands out. The rest is just mediocre food. If the sashimi is fresh, you can’t mess up with the chirashi bowl. The teriyaki salmon is overly cooked and too dry. Salmon size is also on the small side. Seaweed salad is just ordinary. Tuna tartar is the highlight of the meal. Beautiful presentation and rich creamy flavor. It comes with rice cakes for you to dip. The rice cake is very unique, probably made in the house. The rice cake is warm and has mixed greens(not sure if it is herbs or scallion) in it. The tuna is fresh and sits on top of guacamole. The creamy combo and the light crisp rice cake put your mouth in heaven. This is a must try item. Highly recommend. Speaking of the service, I am disappointed. It is extremely slow. Our food took at least 20 mins to arrive. I was already starving at that time. Then we went to the rooftop and had a round of drinks. Beautiful view with heating. This bumps up my experience here. Overall, I would probably come back when weather is warm and sit on the rooftop. Other than that, the parking hassle in Adams Morgan is not what I like to experience frequently.

Fantastic rooftop. Mediocre, overpriced sushi. For $ 13 – 16 for a specialty roll, you should be getting something more than a California roll with some extra stuff thrown on top. Not bad, but definitely not worth the price.

I’m a sushi-lover and on my adventure out to DC I have researched and researched where the best sushi place is. Sadly I am still searching. Came on a rainy evening — sad. I feel like a major game changer for Perrys is there awesome rooftop. Made a reservation but didn’t necessarily need one. Happy hour is only in the bar, warning. Menu is not sushi heavy. Mix of entrees, rolls, and sashimi. My dad and I split an order of yellow tail, tuna, unagi and a few rolls. Sushi pieces were large and fish was decent. But nothing to blow me out of the park. Price was expensive too, although this is sushi. More of an intimate, dimly lit atmosphere. Couches near the window would be great to sit and socialize with friends. Wouldn’t consider this an authentic sushi restaurant. Not the worst though, I can’t complain about the food!

The rooftop is a perfect environment for a meal when the weather is good. It’s beautiful, with string lights. I went to dinner with a friend, and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Our server, Kristen, was great. The food was delicious. I got the chicken katsu rice bowl. My only complaint was a lack of vegetables. For $ 10 a dish, it really should include more vegetables — a large portion was rice. The curry was delicious though.

Came out to Perry’s Restaurant for dinner before painting the town red. We decided on Perry’s later in the day. By the time I checked they didn’t have any reservations earlier than 930PM. We decided to just try our luck and head over there. The hostess was actually really sweet and sat us right away. She told us there was some bigger parties coming in and that it was going to get loud and could be a delay if we didn’t get our orders in first. There was a large table set up for a party of about 20. Needless to say. That party never even showed up in the hour-hour and a half we were there. I understand the purpose of reservations but who knows how much business they lose if they turn people away because they set up large parties hours in advance and leave the tables empty. While we were there, it actually was not that crowded. Our servers were pretty slow and seemed frantic. We had two or three different people come and check on us throughout our meal. One of them may have been training. My friend and I each got a house salad to start. The salads were huge and we could have split one. I wish they had told use. We would have split one and probably gotten a different appetizer to try different things off the menu. We also go three sushi rolls for our entrees to share. The sushi tasted fresh but some of the rolls were kind of bland. We were actually surprised how bland the firecracker roll was based on the description. We liked the element and rainbow roll better. We sat inside in the dining room. If we return I’d like to try sitting outside on the roof.

I went to Perry’s for my birthday which was on a Saturday Night. The wait for our table and the service was really slow for my taste. The food and drinks were great, I will recommend the Tuna tartare 100%. The location is beautiful and very romantic, it is a great place for dates. Our waiter did not pay too much attention to our table, and they did not have any especial desserts and refused to put a candle on the mochi ice cream that my friends order for me. So I would not recommend it for birthday occasions at all.

Went to perrys on a random Friday evening after making reservations on open table. Decided before hand to get the omakase sashimi. We were seated in the indoor part– the rooftop wasn’t really provided as an option– upon asking we learned that there were 6 people before us. We ordered fairly quickly but waited about 35 mins for our food to get there which was a bummer. Also if we are paying $ 90 for omakase, one would expect that it would come out one by one. And be an experience. Nope– it came out all together in a large bowl. Amusingly our waiter didn’t know the difference between the salmon and tuna– it’s ok I am sure he was new. The sashimi however was fresh and at the right temperature. My complaint however was that it was wayyyyy too thickly cut. My husband didn’t seem to mind however. We had a great bottle of daijongo and then we had the green tea crème brûlée. Overall I enjoyed our meal– but I doubt I’ll be back. I hear there is a drag brunch on Sunday’s– that maybe worth a shot but it’s first come first serve :(

The rooftop sitting was absolutely worth the visit. We happened to arrive a few minutes before sunset so we had the absolute best experience possible. The sushi was affordable and beautifully prepared. They didn’t have a ton of craft beer, given D.C.‘s ample selections, but they had enough for being a sushi restaurant. The service we receiced left a lot to be desired, but I won’t lower the rating to 4 stars because the waiter one table over was phenomenal. I enjoyed the fire cracker and crunchy tiger rolls, and I’m sure you will too! Our experience was great. I highly recommend this place if you’re in the mood for sushi!

Came here for drag brunch and had a great time! The website has super detailed instructions on the brunch experience and what to expect( ). I would also recommend bringing $ 1 bills for tipping the performers, especially if you want them to take the time to take photos with you/your group. We got there at 9:15AM and there was already a pretty good line going. That said, I think people who got there up until maybe 9:40 were able to get tables at the first seating. The food is self-serve(drinks orders are taken at the table by wait staff). Dishes are lined up on a buffet table on one side of the restaurant. It’s pretty standard fare plus some California roll-type sushi, nothing fancy or particularly good. Everyone lines up right away in the beginning because they’re afraid of missing the performers, but there’s actually a pretty good amount of time before the first person comes out, so you’re better off sitting down, ordering a round of drinks, and waiting for the line to die off – then you can slide in and grab whatever you want. They do a good job of replenishing throughout the morning as well. Alcohol is not included. We split pitchers of mimosa($ 35) and bellini($ 45) and got probably 5 – 6 drinks out of each pitcher, not too bad considering. The drag show was so much fun! All of the performers were really lively and took their time touring the room(they will take a little more time at your table if you have bills out!). There’s a Host who does special call-outs to anyone celebrating special events. Each girl does two song sets and there’s a break between each performance to give people a chance to get more food. With the exception of tables in the center of the restaurant, most of the tables have a more«exposed» side that the performers will come to – so choose your seat carefully! ;) Overall, it was a great time! With the split pitchers/tax/tip, it wound up being $ 55 a person for brunch and two hours of fun! I would definitely come here again with friends!

This is for drag brunch– aka the best brunch in the city! If you’re looking for a nice family friendly post– church brunch, this place is not for you. If you’re looking for your more typical DC20 something brunch where everyone gets hammered and rowdy and has an amazing Sunday Funday, this is your new spot! The food is surprisingly very solid– bacon, eggs, salad(but why would you get salad at brunch? I judge you…), chicken and waffles(my favorite!), ham, and most importantly, sushi. Think sushi with brunch is weird? You would be wrong– it’s delicious, and the quality here is great. Also buffet– what’s not to like? The mimosas are not bottomless, but with enough people you can get pitchers and it’s not more expensive than your normal brunch. I highly recommend the guava mimosa– guava mimosas are the only mimosas. The show– the show is hysterical and wonderful. All of the performers are definitely prettier than most of the women in attendance, which makes for an amusing time! There is crowd interaction, the costumes and dances are great, and everyone has a fantastic time. The lead performer singled out our most in shape friend(who is also very shy) and made him walk around the room shirtless for tips– at first he was super embarrassed, but by the end of it he was dancing and having a great time, and the atmosphere was fantastic and hilarious. I would love to come back! Yes, a downside is that they don’t take reservations, but that’s easily fixed if you’re usually too hungover to brunch before 1:30. Show up late, put in your name, and go to a nearby bar for pre-game mimosas or bloody mary’s. It’s worth the wait! One of the best brunches I can remember, possibly my favorite ever!

The omakase for two is so much less expensive than anywhere else in the city that we had to give it a try($ 70 for two people). The quantity was fairly standard, about 12 pieces of nigiri plus a little skewer of cooked tuna to start. There were some nice cuts of fish offered(I particularly enjoyed the salmon belly, yellowtail belly, and red snapper which was topped with pink salt), but there were a few pieces that didn’t suit me, and one that honestly tasted off although it could just be something I’m not used to. The service was a little odd. Before we ordered two servers were omnipresent. But after we ordered, no one refilled my water, and we sat for quite awhile before anyone offered to bring the check. It wasn’t up to par with my favorite spot in the city right now, Sushi Capitol, but if I was in the neighborhood and wanted sushi I’d go back to try some ala carte options or the chirashi bowl.
