I was able to order easily online through Unilocal, and the guy delivered it quicker than I had expected. The green salad had that awesome ginger dressing, which is really the only reason to order salad from a Japanese restaurant. I ordered one roll that was fried, and it was still warm when I sat down to eat it, so that was a bonus(always a risk when not eating at the restaurant). It was a great roll, but it was cut really thin to make a small amount measure out to 6 pieces. Yes, technically there were six pieces. Six really thin pieces. The upside I guess is that they each fit in my mouth, which can sometimes make sushi messy with more substantial rolls. I also ordered an avocado roll, which was beautifully presented, but not as a roll. It looked more like sashimi: sliced avocado lay across beds of rice and tied with a neat, thin seaweed ribbon. Again, beautiful, but not what I was expecting. And there were only two pieces. For the price you pay at other places for six pieces, here there was only two. That was a little disappointing. So, in short, $ 25(with tax and tip) for dinner for one. Not the best deal, but pretty good sushi.

Our visit was mediocre, food was not bad but I think the service did not cut it for me. I also didn’t like that there was this pesky fly buzzing around us throughout whole meal. I would try this place again to give it another chance. My family ordered teriyaki chicken and I had uni which was fresh and good, kani salad, and two rolls. Oh also they had no unsweetened tea, very strange for a sushi place and on a Saturday afternoon

The first order I made was for delivery and the second order I went into the restaurant for take out. The chicken lo mein, veggie egg rolls, Hunan chicken and fried rice are delicious! The food is not greasy like most places and very filling! The next time I go, it will be to eat there in person. They have a bar and a nice seating area. The sushi looks good too!

Wok and Roll is delicious and the staff is always so friendly! We order take out often from there, but also love going in for a sit down dinner. The variety is great — I usually order Singapor Noodles and some sushi rolls. Highy recommended :-)

I was just here on a Sunday afternoon for late lunch/early dinner with a friend. We came in at a slow hour, and had a nice quiet meal. We were casually dressed, the food is moderately priced. The server was attentive, and the food arrived quickly. We split an order of Shumai as an appetizer, and I had the Thai Coconut Curry Chicken. They gave me a generous portion of food– way more than I could finish in one sitting. That doesn’t mean I didn’t try to because the food was delicious! It was well cooked and flavorful.

My order was delivered on time, but the driver did not leave the sushi! I noticed 3 minutes after the driver had left and called the restaurant, at which I was informed that it would take 20 minutes for the driver to turn around and drop off my food. The steamed dumplings and the Thai iced tea that were dropped off were both very tasty(although the Thai iced tea had much too much ice in it), but I am skeptical about ordering delivery from here again!

They’re lucky they got two stars… only because a loyal five star rating customer is here with me. I placed my order through GrubHub and ended up receiving my food 10 minutes past the LATEST time that they said I would get it. I branched out and ordered the crispy schezuan chicken, which is limp and soggy. I’m not even sure there is any chicken inside of the breading. My friend who is a loyal customer agreed that it was inedible. My fried crab wontons were cold and mushy by the time they arrived. The only positive from my experience was the average wonton soup and the amount of sauces that were given. UPDATE: After posting my review yesterday, I was contacted by management. They were extremely pleasant and offered me a refund for the previous nights order. It was much appreciated.

Wow I really can’t believe I’m giving a one star rating to a place. Incredible. So, I ordered delivery through GrubHub thinking everything would go smoothly. Nope. I was wrong. I ordered the Spider Roll, Fried Oysters, Thai tea, and egg rolls. Pretty tame order. I was originally slated for a 11:17pm delivery time, which hen for pushed to 11:47pm(driver didn’t arrive until almost 12am)… that’s after the food has been made and set for delivery. Then when I got the food it was terrible. The Thai Tea has been brewed for too long(and it was a small cup for it to be $ 3.45…), the texture of the sushi was not appealing(I eat sushi regularly…), and the oysters need a different sauce and breading. This will be the last time I order from this Wok & Roll. Do yourself a favor and order from Asia North Sea or whatever that place is called. They have better drinks, the Thai tea is perfect, and there’s a larger selection. Disappointed.

I always order delivery(mostly sushi) from them and the service is pretty good. The food gets to me in about 40 min and I’ve never had any problems. The size of the rolls is small compared to other places, but they are fresh and tasty. The prices are decent. I will highly recommend it if you’re in the mood for sushi, but don’t want to get out of the house.

I made the mistake of ordering online, directly from their website, for pickup. Their online ordering system worked well at first. It was pretty easy, and I got a confirmation email that laid out the order and specified the 18th street location for pickup. But then came the phone call of death, a few minutes after sending in the order. I call it that because, in one fell swoop, it destroyed every notion of convenience I had naively believed the digital world of 2015 had lent me. At first the woman on the phone wanted to know if I was coming, and whether I knew that I had ordered to the 18th street location. There was a severe language barrier. I tried to explain that yes, in fact, I did intend to pick up my food and knew the address. That was a struggle. Then came her coup de gras… «Okay. What would you like to order?» This may seem trivial, but anyone who spends significant amount of time online knows that registering for websites can get old. Want to see if you won $ 100K from that coke bottle? Just sign up! It’s just more time, more filling in the blanks, more junk mail, more data, more privacy selling, and more annoyances that you grin and bear because you think it will be worth it. I registered and ordered online because I didn’t want to have to talk to someone on the phone, with a language barrier, and try to explain to them my order. I wanted to magically transmit this information directly to them, without any confusion, and then just skip over there like Gene Kelly, hand them money, and skip home. The phone call destroyed this fantasy. Why don’t I give them 1 star? Because that’s bullshit. I needed to write this. It was therapeutic. But I’m not trying to ruin their reputation just because one employee doesn’t understand the Internet and ruined my happy perfect life.

2.5 stars… because the hostess was friendly, service fast, and restaurant clean. I would not return for the food, though. I ordered Hunan Beef; the beef was fatty and tasted old(gross, right?) Tasted like – it had absorbed ‘flavor’ from the refrigerator. Not good. The broccoli and green peppers used in the dish, however, were fresh and good. I also ordered the ‘meat steamed dumplings’, which were good. The ‘meat’(tasted like pork) was flavorful, and the dumplings were piping hot. My final word of advice: eat elsewhere! …many other better restaurants line 18th St.

Came into Wok and Roll with a groupon. Service was friendly and efficient, but my sushi rolls were not very good, and more expensive than superior places(ie Nooshi). I got the spicy scallop roll(my favorite at other places) and it wasnt flavorful and was filled with imitation crab. Gross! Ill probably only come back with a groupon, if I come back at all. Too bad!

My expectations for Chinese delivery are usually low. I normally prefer to stick to Oriental East in my neighborhood, but found myself in Adams Morgan one evening with a hankering for late night chinese. There were very few places open on seamless, and we ordered from Wok and Roll with hesitation. Boy were we wrong! The fried rice was some of the best I’ve ever had(serious competition for Oriental East), and my beef with asparagus was flavorful, tender, and generally well cooked. The general tso’s chicken was also one that I found myself reaching for multiple times and I normally do not even like this dish. Delivery was quick — less than 40 minutes, and the driver even came up to the apartment instead of waiting in the lobby. Definitely a place I would order from regularly if I was located in the AdMo area — good food, solid service, and open late — what more can you ask for from delivery?

A decent delivery option. The sushi is «meh» and some of the other dishes are hit or miss, so the only thing I get consistently is the Hong Kong style shrimp wontons w/noodles. I doctor it up with a bit of shredded nori, sesame seeds, and sriracha, and it’s perfect! The delivery isn’t so perfect — Last time I ordered a side of steamed vegetables and found a box of rice in my bag instead. And the delivery guy usually sits in his car for awhile until you either stare him down(if you’re the aggressive type) or feign ignorance(if you’re passive aggressive) and make him come to your building. But overall, a welcome addition to my delivery rotation.

Whenever I order delivery it’s usually because it’s my last resort, and by that time I’m starving and near death! Hence today when I ordered from Wok and Roll. I ordered delivery from Eat24, I was supposed to receive my food within 45 minutes, it came 50 minutes later. My problems were all cleared when the delivery driver called me and was very polite and kind! He even apologized for the delay. I ordered crispy shrimp sushi and salmon with avocado. Both were fresh and very tasty!

Seems that this restaurant is up and down what quality is concerned. And ratings. Maybe it’s average in Chinese cuisine. Guess I was lucky and had a great experience with my Hawaiian tempura/rolls and a tuna(substituted for salmon) carpacio appetizer. Wonderful look and amazing flavors. Took my Groupon and they were pleased to accept. Just know to take cash for the tax. Highly recommended.

It’s a decent place for your Chinese food fix. The sushi and sashimi are also well done. I enjoyed my meals plenty and love the Groupons that make coming here even better! Most everything we’ve had on the menu has been enjoyable and yummy: CHINESEFOOD: — Shrimp with Cashew Nuts — delicious — Chicken in Black Bean Sauce — good, has a little kick to it — Combination Seafood & Bean Curd Clay Pot — good — Sesame Chicken — good — Sweet and Sour Chicken — good — Kung Po Chicken — good — Scallops with Mixed Vegetables — a little bland NIGIRI/SASHIMI: — We’ve tried most of all of them, and it’s pretty good: fresh and tasty. SUSHIROLLS: — Rainbow Roll — good — Spider Roll — okay — New York Roll — good It’s a good meal for a decent price. Service is friendly.

Okay Unilocalers, I didn’t know who to believe. «5-stars it’s absolutely amazing,» «waste of money.» Where is a woman to turn when things are so conflicting?! Away… turn away, I should have just found somewhere else. But my boyfriend commented on wanting to try Wok and Roll everyday on our walk to work, and who am I to say no – so he brought home take out. OLDTEMPURAANIMPROVEMENTONGLOSSY, FLAVORLESSCHICKEN We agreed to avoid the sushi, as per the Unilocal reviews and the whole carry-out raw fish walk a mile home in the heat thing. I went for what I imagined to be the spiciest thing on the menu, in hopes of avoiding any sort of sweet sugary glaze action. Everything we ordered had that Americanized-Chinese Food glaze. You know, that sort of shiny film on top of an orange-ish crust? It was like trying to eat a piece of spongy chicken that you had accidentally dipped in that lip-plumping lip gloss. It sorta left a weird, unpleasant tingling but was completely flavorless. After pawning off my entrée to my boyfriend, I tried the tempura. I was surprised to see that he had thought tempura would be palatable after a 20 minute walk, but after a minute or so in the toaster oven, it perked right up and was the best thing we ordered. Rehabilitated 30 minute old tempura should never be the most delightful part of a meal. I’m not certain what this restaurant is supposed to be really. It’s got sushi, a fair about of Japanese-inspired items, some Chinese-inspired items, and apparently a sizable happy hour option. I understand it’s in the cliched name – but they don’t appear to do either well.

It’s really hard for a Chinese restaurant to have a high rating and I think I know why. Chinese restaurants lose out on the competitions: — Too cheap to have unique or decent décor, so the ambiance is a little bit stuffy. Though it wasn’t underground, it felt like I was eating in the basement with few windows. — The wait staff doesn’t smile or provide service in a professional manner. This of course is normal in China, but for the average American who is used to attentiveness, this spot definitely doesn’t come close. — The food is too Americanized and thus, losing its unique advantage. Not to say that Americanized Chinese food is not tasty, but sometimes having too much Americanization makes the restaurant lose its edge. If people want American food, then there are so many options available– why choose this one? All in all, I’d say that this is a great Americanized Chinese food spot. It is by far the most delicious Americanized Chinese food I’ve had, but it by no means, authentic. I think you should come here with a group of friends, but don’t expect superb treatment if you are looking to impress some date of yours.
