Sorry, but this is my go to for Chinese take out. In a city like DC, where ethnic food seems to be more novelty than the norm, this food is fresh, large portioned and tasty. Don’t expect authenticity perhaps. They know who they are cooking for. And don’t expect the wait times for take out to be as projected. The 5 star rating is because it’s a friendly spot in our neighborhood, the family that owns it adds much needed culture to the area and the food is just darn good.

I had ordered from O’tasty a few times, and was pleased with the quality of the food and the price. However, I had a very negative experience where I placed an order, and it never arrived. I had called the restaurant multiple times to check on the status of my order, and each time, my call was greeted with«oh, your driver is on their way, your food will be there in a few minutes.» After two + hours of waiting, I will be taking my business elsewhere next time.

this is a dirty, filthy, roach and rat invested area. how they pass health and food inspection is suspect to city inspection. the food is rancid and gross. finally the service in or out is so bad and the manager does not give a shit !!! the only thing that is good is the food is cheap and now we know why?. they even have 2 underaged boys 6&9 yrs. working there. unless you don’t mind if you get sick and disease do not eat there. neil

I ordered Sesame Chicken w/pork fried rice and a coke at 7:05PM on a Tuesday. I received a confirmation saying it would be there by 7:40…sounds good to me! At 8:05 I called asking where my food was. The response I received was«It’s almost there». Ok, fine, it’s a bit late, no worries. At 8:35 I called yet again asking where my food was. The same response«almost there». At 9PM I called asking where my food was and shockingly… same response«almost there». This time I said I would hold while the person called the driver to find the exact time, after being on hold for about 10 minutes the doorbell rang and my food arrived. Over two hours for a very small order. Food was ok, a bit below the normal cheap take out, but edible. My recommendation, make a sandwich and call it a night.

The latest delivery from O’Tasty was the final nail in the proverbial coffin. They have always been tardy(around two hours) for delivery but this time their tardiness was equally matched by their blatant inaccuracy of the order. We ordered chilli garlic chicken and a TVP dish. The chicken that came was definitely not chilli garlic and the TVP was basically appeared like battered tofu. Instead of spring roll, the order arrived with some kind of egg-filled pastry! When we called the place, an adolescent sounding individual answered, who just refused to admit they had messed up the order. We finally gave up trying to resolve their error. So done with this place!

I ordered for the first time last night. I was told the the food would take 30 minutes. it finally arrived after 80 minutes! I called twice to ask how long our food would be and was just told«it’s on it’s way» Oh, and the fried rice was very greasy. Won’t be using again.

Worst delivery service ever. It took them an hour and 15 minutes to get us our sub standard food delivered. I left a minimal tip based on the lackluster service and the delivery guy had the nerve to call back and complain about his tip. This after I explained to him my disastification in their service. The food was overly greasy and the fried rice had no flavor.

Worst place to eat and worst place to work … Ever one or two weeks one different person doing the job … One time happens, two times maybe is an accident but third and times and times again is pattern that there is problem you know …

What can you say about O’Tasty. The Chinese restaurant with an Irish name, that also sells sushi that is rolled by a Latino gentleman. Their cuisine also offers a variety of American food and some Thai food as well, because why not right? None of this really adds up and whenever I tell someone about this place they usually laugh and look at me with a sort of disbelief. That being said, O’Tasty knows what it is, a cheap Asian restaurant that can make average tasting food and doesn’t try to be anything better than that. Have I had better sushi, definitely, but there’s is not bad. Have I had better Chinese, of course, but this version is passable. Have I had better Thai, you betcha, but where am I going to go if I want a mixture of cuisines that O’Tasty offers. This place is cheap food that is decent at best, and they deliver(they take their time with delivery, but will throw in a free egg roll or something if they are really late). Really what more do you want from a place called O’Tasty

Ordered take out from O’Tasty for dinner the other day and was disappointed in the quality of the food. Granted this is take out Chinese food, but I’ve had better. Everything I ordered(the appetizer sampler, orange chicken, sesame beef, mu shu pork) was either too bland or salty! No bueno):

How the heck did this place get its name or even more stars. I hate giving out one stars but this place… :(sadness I ordered an eel roll, spicy California roll, spicy salmon, spring rolls, and sesame chicken. First, the sushi. It was just globs of rice rolled around what they call… «Fish» but it was a funky color, and where was the eel… Second there was so much rice it was as if I was eating rice balls. Second, the spring rolls. Crispy yes but anything else? No… there was so much oil going on that I had to stop eating it. Third the sesame chicken. Was just okay… I had to throw out most of the food bc it was just not«o tasty» I ordered via seamless, but then again seamless here in dc never has a great selection. I try to avoid ordering from seamless here as possible — even if that means going out in the snow to pick up my food. And they said that delivery would be 30 – 40 min. But it took them… 1.5 hours… Sigh. At least I got my carbs in.

NEVER Order from Otasty the food is soggy and the last time they quoted my simple order of wings and fries of 30 min and it took OVER2 hours to arrive! The 1st time I called after an hour of waiting the woman was rude and dismissive and was just like ok it’s coming the next time I called 40 min later they put me on hold and never came back to the phone. Rudest I’ve ever been treated esp for gross soggy Chinese! There are better places like New Dynasty or Meiwah that also deliver fast and polite!

I ordered Friday lunch on Grub Hub, the bean curd and veggie soup and some seaweed salad. Though delivery took over an hour and the prices on Grub Hub were more than on their website, I would order from them again. The food is delicious, the veggies and tofu are very fresh and perfectly cooked, and they threw in an unordered spring roll, like they knew I was craving one. My advice: order early if you are having it delivered. Just assume it will take over an hour.

Admittedly, I was taking a risk by ordering $ 30 worth of sushi rolls from a takeout dive with an inexplicably Irish name. The delivery time was at the long end of their estimate, but I was watching the Real Housewives of New York season première so the hour basically flew by. The delivery person handed me the bag and dashed off, no doubt concerned about efficiency(he called me several minutes before he actually showed up). I noticed the contents were heavier than expected. When I got inside, an unordered General Tso’s chicken revealed itself in all its glory. As I greedily ate the free portion of my meal before the delivery man could return and demand it back, I thought of the lonely, hungry, white person sitting in their apartment, robbed of their General Tso’s Chicken. The good/evil duality of the situation was all too apparent and I couldn’t help but feel the sour tinge of guilt. Perhaps that was just the from-the-bottle General Tso’s sauce. Upon reading the reviews of O’Tasty it seems they like to reward binge eaters /food hoarders with free additions. So I’m beginning to think my gain did not come at the expense of anybody else. This makes me happy, because good takeout shouldn’t be a zero sum game.

We wanted Chinese food enough to ignore the bad reviews of this place… which was just stupid. It’s ten minutes from our house and it took TWOHOURS to do a very basic order. We called about the hour point(they had said it would take 35 min) and they said they just needed the address… then an hour later it showed up. I’m guessing, unless the delivery guy has zero sense of direction or crawled here, that they were lying. In addition, the food was just meh and definitely not worth the wait. Not cheap enough to justify it either! The pork fried rice seemed like it had been made a while ago. The random chicken dish The Fiancé ordered was fine. But get this — my Moo Shoo Chicken came with MEXICANTORTILLAS instead of pancakes. I’m not kidding — like, tortillas you would use for tacos. WTF? Obviously, won’t be ordering from here again.

O’tasty isnt gonna knock your socks off, but it’s pretty darn good for the money. Got the sushi roll special($ 6.95 for 2 rolls) and i feel like i got more than I bargained for. The spicy tuna and philly rolls were both fresh and packed with fish and the size of the rolls was generous. The quality of the rolls was better than the best grocery store pre-made sushi, but not quite Sushi restaurant level. But you aren’t paying sushi prices here, now are you? If you want a quick, cheap sushi fix, O’tasty’s whats up.

Orange chicken was a little soggy in a basic sweet sauce. Pork lo mein and combination fried rice were reasonably oiled. The eggplant with garlic sauce was noticeably overcooked. Beef with snow peas was cooked just right, and probably the least offensive dish I tried. Two and a half stars. As far as Americanized Chinese food goes, I’ve had worse– not too heavy on MSG or grease here. But even if I haven’t tried the Japanese portion of their menu, I’m obligated to round down since I have standards.

3.5 star –Lunch special and delivery review– I ordered lunch specials to be delivered. When the food was delivered, they were still hot! Good value! Big portion and reasonably tasty. I would definitely get lunch special again! PS: Free delivery over $ 12!

O’Tasty is a typical hole in the wall Americanized Chinese restaurant. Places like this are staples in Washington DC, at least all the parts of DC I grew up in. It is close to my place and I was craving some jumbo shrimp and fries so I decided to give them a shot. The shrimp were a good size, they didn’t pull that huge amount of breading, small shrimp thing that many restaurants do. Breading was good and flavorful. Fries were nicely cooked and good as well. They gave me the wrong order, I made it all the way back to my place opened the bag and my food wasn’t there. I called them back, they acknowledged the mistake and I brought the food back. I received an apology but a free drink or egg roll would have been nice, seeing as how I had to make two trips for my food. Decent carryout to get some Americanized Chinese food, but nothing special or worth rushing to visit.
