This was my first time doing a real-life room escape activity. I didn’t quite know what to expect but had heard through others that these were really fun. And it was fun! We had a great time. The staff was super friendly and created a fun/relaxed environment. We did the Omega room. It was an interesting balance of seek-and-find clues versus solving number problems. We got off to a slow start by overlooking a very obvious clue but once we got moving it was a little easier. There was definitely more math /numbers involved than expected but luckily we had enough brain-power between the 8 players to put it all together. I think we ended up taking about 45 minutes to escape. We will definitely return and do other rooms. A few of our friends flaked-out last time so we ended up doing it with a larger random group. It would definitely be more fun it most or all of the group were people you already knew.

Me and my friends have been there during new year, and we had a great time. We played kingdom of cat’s room, and it was our first time experience the room escape game. The room was not very difficult to escape but a good try for first time players like us to get some ideas of the game. We actually liked the king of cat’s room, because there were some hi-tech in the room, and the puzzles were well related. Also, there were not much decoding parts like figuring out the numbers since we are not math person. Instead, we need to smell and observe, which made the game more fun to us. We will definitely come back for the other two rooms, and we hope they will open up new rooms in the future.

I like here pretty much, the puzzles are fun and carefully considered. This is a good place to go in DC, if you like to try something new.

I had recently done«The Agency» at Escape the Room D.C. in Chinatown, and was looking forward to seeing how this company compared. I was a bit wary of the spelling errors on their website, and the clearly fake reviews here on Unilocal, but since my group had a coupon we gave it a shot. In a nutshell, the overall experience was disappointing. The room we did, Kingdom of Cats, felt half-put together, appearing more like a do-it-yourself project than a professional escape room. There were loose screws lying about, exposed wires, extraneous props that unintentionally served as red-herrings, and broken puzzles that we had to solve in unconventional ways. Having to communicate with the game master over walkie talkie only added to the cheap feeling. Another thing to note is that Omescape is touted as the only Chinese/English escape room in the D.C. area, and unfortunately that distinction was apparent while doing the room. Written puzzles were littered with misspellings and grammatical mistakes and the audio puzzles were read in Chinese first and then English by a non-native speaker who mispronounced common words(ex: smell pronounced as smile). While the staff was friendly, you’re paying for the room and experience and as it stands now it isn’t worth the discounted price, let alone the $ 35 full price. (P.S. — Our group of eight solved the room in 35 minutes, which seemed quick. The website reports two different difficulties for the room, but the correct one is the 2 of 5 stars).

I’ve tried more than 20 escape games and OMESCAPE is definitely one of the top game provider our there. Their games never failed me. I took my friends in DC and played kingdom of cats theme, which is AWESOME! My friends have never played escape game before but they fell in love with it immediately. The puzzles are not hard but really fun and creative. I don’t want to spoil much, but it’s a must try in DC.

I have a pretty bad reputation for being really difficult to deal with when it comes to puzzles — I get easily frustrated but I also have beginner’s luck so the people who are really into the games get mad when I win. Despite this reputation people like me enough that I keep getting invited to things involving puzzles. My friend made a reservation here for 8 of us for her birthday and we did the Omega Time Travel room. I had never done an escape room before but almost everyone else had. It would definitely be a little confusing if you’ve never done it before. It was fun and it was definitely good to have more people to have more people help figure it out(and some of my friends are better at puzzles than others). We escaped in(almost) record time. I definitely think it was expensive for what we got which is the only reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5.

Staff was very nice and accommodating, gave helpful hints without totally giving away the puzzle. Will be coming back. :)

If you like challenge and puzzles, this is the place that you can’t miss!!! My friends and I were so enjoyed in this game, many different kinds of puzzles that you need to use different logical thinking ways to figure them out~very interesting and cool place that you can hang out with friends! Great mechanism design and great story background. What’s more, many popular restaurants and bars also around this great location, such as Sakuramen, Bonduri and Madams Organ! Highly recommended!!!
