Took my wife here for our anniversary. We were married at the Hemmingway home in Key West, FL, so coming here for an anniversary seemed natural due to the name and she loved the idea. The food was delicious. We both ate steaks, which were cooked to total perfection and was not at all tough. The potatoes were also very well made. We loved the Tex Mex eggrolls… which is a great concept. All in all a great experience and the service was superb

Enjoyed lunch here with my mom on 4÷15÷16. We both enjoyed our salads, the cozy atmosphere and the responsive service. Our waitress gave us bread even though they don’t normally serve it at lunch and she made us delicious cappuccinos at the end of the meal. Have been here numerous times for lunch and dinner and will continue to come back. Thanks!

Hemingways is a really nice local date night spot. My only note that would be somewhat negative is that it’s a little expensive for what you’re served. The ambiance is nice and the waitresses are lovely; I can personally recommend the penne a la vodka and the cowboy burger. The food is very filling and delicious. Me and my boyfriend always go for the calamari appetizer; it’s good but more on the chewy side. We’ve now visited Hemingways 3 times within the past year. It’s close to Crokers, so we usually grab dinner together at Hemingways and meet up with friends at the bar next door afterwards for drinks. Overall, I give it a thumbs up — I would just save it for a nice date night as it is a little pricy for a weekday dinner.

To call this place a train-wreck would be a dis-service to the fun and exciting event that is a train-wreck.(Sarcasm. Train-wrecks are bad!) Where to even begin though? I went there for a «private» party and it was the first and last time I would ever even think of stepping foot in the place. To call it «private» is a stretch because they seat you mere inches away from other restaurant patrons who are oh-so-thrilled they can see and hear your festivities. The looks on people’s faces suggested they really needed to get a pole-shaped object surgically removed from a certain body orifice. For the price we paid too??? COMPLETELY not worth it. $ 27.99 a plate BROUGHTDOWN from $ 29.99 a plate?! Yes. Seriously. The brunch was so NOT worth it and the accommodations SO poor, we could have individually paid for each party goer’s train ticket to Manhattan AND brunch for LESS and would have gotten some quality food in an actual restaurant in exchange! From the bored and completely disinterested omelette cook(won’t call him a chef) to the buffet line that the restaurant describes by how many feet it is, rather than the actual quality of the food… the visit just got worse and worse. The eggs, cheese and meat of the omelette just tasted old. Ever have eggs that have been sitting around for a long time and just get smooth and rubbery?(Nums!) The food in the buffet? Let’s just say the bacon was floating in so much grease that I STILL get nauseous just thinking about it… and the party was OVER two weeks ago! One bite and I could not get the grease taste out of my mouth, no matter what I drank or ate. Did I mention alcohol wasn’t included for the $ 27.99? Sure could have used it! One of the absolute highlights of the day was the goon sitting at the bar, whom was obviously either an employee, boyfriend or husband of one of the waitresses angrily staring at everyone, repeatedly muttering: «TAKEYOURTIME» to any of our party that would pass within earshot because it was 2:58 and our party was scheduled to end at 3PM. Maybe he was meant to be entertainment? The waitress that was serving us was actually friendly and energetic, but, hey, you can still find a perfect kernel of corn even in the nastiest piece of poo! To say this dive is NOTRECOMMENDED is an understatement. Having a party? McDonald’s is a few feet away from Hemingway’s!!! You’d be better off getting a bucket of McNuggets and some sundaes and save yourself the time, money and frustration this place would bring!

My 50th birthday surprise brunch party was held in this most disappointing restaurant. The room we were ushered into was not meant to accommodate this many people(it was more suited for 10 people, rather than for 25 people), it was horribly cramped and uncomfortable. We got dirty looks from other patrons who thought we were compromising their experience(so much for a PRIVATE area, which would have allowed us to laugh and actually have fun and laugh at a PARTY). The food was way overpriced and absolutely horrible, the Eggs Benedict was not even close to being edible, the food choices were extremely limited for a brunch, the food was cold and not fresh tasting at all I was describe it as tired, loveless slop. I was so disappointed in this place, it was dirty, dark, outdated and very unappealing. It is unfortunate that we only have one opportunity to turn fabulous 50, because this place was NOT fabulous in any way at all. I guess you can surmise from my comments I will never ever frequent this disgusting, overpriced, establishment ever again. What a shame!

Went here for brunch for a friends birthday and the birthday girl was given raw chicken in her sandwich, literally pink raw and never cooked but covered in fried breading… sadly she had already bitten into the sandwich and is now suffering from severe illness due to eating at this establishment. Needless to say nobody in our party of 8 will ever be returning to this restaurant!

The $ 25 Sunday buffet was much too overpriced for what you get! Much too much cheap food such as bread, French toast, potatoes, fried chicken, pasta… and it wasn’t even good. There were no vegetables and the only salad was Caesar, which is not good if you can’t eat cheese. I’ll never eat there again. Avoid at all costs!

Don’t go, there are so many other places to eat and drink. I don’t have the time or energy to tell you all the bad things about this place. Just skip it.

My girlfriend and I have been here several times and our consensus has been the food is lackluster for the price. Our recent visit with two other couples was the clincher for never visiting again. I understand Saturday night is the busiest night of the week but a dinner for 6 people with appetizers shouldn’t take over 2 hours for main course to be served. The staff apologized several times about the delay but our food did not arrive any more quickly. Once our meals finally arrived the food was decent but not worth the price, as was my original complaint with Hemmingway’s. The manager offered to buy our group dessert but at that point we were done and opted for the check. Most restaurants would have at least taken a round of drinks off the bill or even an entrée, but instead they took off a $ 14 appetizer. Overall this restaurant is not much more than an overpriced bar food, nothing special on the menu and lackluster service.

6 star service! Bartender is super friendly and the casual conversation didn’t feel forced at all. We all know how awkward it can be sitting at a bar with the bartender just making small talk. Yes, it’s cold outside. Thanks, I like my bag too. Etc. not here! Service is great! At the bar at least :)

Went last night. Ordered rigatoni a la vodka. Tasted way too al détente like box of pasta fell in water and they took it out two seconds later. Asked them to cook it more. Came back the same. No one asked if it was better. I only ate it cos I was starving. Coffee tasted horrible. Bread hard. Gave such little butter and milk had to ask for more. They seemed annoyed with me at that point. Really wanted to send back my plate again but figured they would be mad and spit in my food at that point. Over priced. Under cooked. Chinzo with bread, butter, etc. no thank you. Will not be going back there.

This was my first experience at Hemingway’s. We came by because the bowling alley was way too crowded on a holiday night. I thought this place was a dive bar, but it was really nice inside. You could definitely take the family or bring a date here. It wasn’t too loud and they were playing good music(holla at Blackbird by Lee Dewyze). We sat at the bar and were immediately attended to, but there were only a handful of people sitting at the bar as well. Wine prices were reasonable. Since we weren’t too hungry, I only had the spinach dip and my bf got the calamari. The spinach dip was reeeeally good, served in a cast iron pan and the chips were warm. I can’t comment on my bf’s calamari because I’m not a fan but he devoured almost everything. Overall, I’d come back and sit at the bar. There wasn’t anything on the menu that really enticed me enough to want to come have a sit-down dinner. In a town where restaurants are a dime a dozen, nothing really stood out enough for me to want to try. The bartender was really good, though.

We were visiting friends in North Bellmore and decided to have brunch at Hemingway’s. We pulled up and were sure we had gotten the address wrong. Hemingway’s is located in an old strip mall. It’s like an oasis in the desert. We got there just as the restaurant was opening, so everything was just coming out hot and fresh. They offer a nice spread with a variety of breakfast, lunch and dessert options. We had a very friendly and attentive server who gushed about their fare. You could tell that she genuinely enjoyed eating there herself. The manager was also very visible and checked in on us frequently. Brunch at Hemingway’s was a treat. For a restaurant with a small, mom and pop feel, it is exactly what I expected. There are certainly more upscale, sophisticated brunch options, but there is also something to be said for a quality, no frills experience as well.

Yuck. Place is gross. We used to go here alot when we lived closer to it and we came back about a month ago, after not going there for 10 years. Place is disguisting and the décor is terrible. Service seems to be lost also.

Every time we return here for dinner, we ask why we bothered. The place is still a good looking place, they even provide cloth napkins. However, the meals continue to be lousy and the service lackluster. We won’t be returning again by accident or on purpose.

FYI, We had dinner at another local restaurant Wednesday night and they were more than happy to substitute asparagus for the potatoes at no additional cost. Penny wise and Pound foolish since we will most likely not be back.

Went there today to celebrate Father’s Day a week later, the staff were pleasant but it was obvious that they were insanely understaffed. Took 5 – 10 minutes for us to be seated with a reservation(plenty of open tables available just no staff working the front) once we were at the table to took around 10 – 15 minutes before a waiter even came to our table. We put in food and drink at the same time the drinks came 15 minutes later and the food another 15 minutes after that. Most of the food was acceptable some were ordered medium rare and came out well done. We weren’t in a rush to come and go but it was excessive the wait time for everything. I would not come back to this establishment again to eat. The bar looked nice.

I’ll try to keep this short and sugarless(not sweet at all)… I just left here for Father’s Day brunch and sometimes I do understand that you get what you pay for, but I don’t even feel that I got that. I came here with my father, brother and nephew, and my mom. We came for the brunch buffet. I feel the options were terrible and the food was not good whatsoever. The service was ok but I should’ve went with my gut feeling and went else where. I never came here before and have no desire to come back. They need to put more love into their food.

Hemingway’s is a local bar and grill that my husband and I frequent occasionally. the reason we don’t frequent here more often is that the prices are pretty high for a night out at the bar. We decided to hit Hemingway’s during Restaurant Week because the food is usually great and with the Restaurant week Prix Fixe it is more than worth it. For $ 27.95 you get an appetizer, meal and dessert!!! We went early enough so we didn’t have to wait. The options were pretty good on the menu and I decided to go with the mussels in garlic and herb sauce, penne ala vodka with chicken, and carrot cake. My husband, who I split the main meal with, went with the french onion soup, chicken florentine and red velvet cake. I had high hopes. First they come around with rolls with butter or rosemary, garlic olive oil for dipping. Nice fresh rolls, I took a second to dip in anticipation of a delicious sauce with my mussels, unfortunately the sauce ended up being just flavorless. I had anticipated an amazing sauce with my mussels and was disappointed at the lack of flavor. I have had better french onion soup. This soup wasn’t bad flavor wise, but there was just too much bread in it. I am a bread lover, so when I say there was too much bread you know there is a problem. The bread was too hard and soaked up almost all of the soup, not my favorite. Entrees came and looked awesome! Again I had high hopes. I started with penne al a vodka with chicken. The pasta was perfectly cooked and the flavor and texture of the sauce was just right. The chicken was tender and delicious. I loved this dish, but stopped halfway through so I could exchange meals with my husband. The chicken florentine looked great and came with veggies and mashed potatoes. I started with the mashed potatoes and they were soft, creamy and absolutely delicious. The veggies were flavorful and slightly crunchy, perfection. The chicken was stuffed with spinach, cheese and ham started off great until about my fourth bite when the flavor just seemed off. I can’t pinpoint why, but it just wasn’t right. Dessert and coffee were great. Despite this experience I have had many meals that I loved here and definitely would return!

I’m pleasantly surprised at the great meal we were served here at Hemingways. We arrived a bit before 2pm on a Saturday afternoon. There were about 3 tables full but all of groups of 5+. We were seated efficiently after the manager and busser put together a few tables to accomodate the 7 of us dining. We were given the brunch menu and took our time to look over it. It seemed our waitress was the only one on at the time and she was a bit frazzled at first, but who could blame her? She was a gem. Very personable, willing to give us any opinion on the food when we asked, and she made a killer bloody mary. She was our bartender and our waitress! We decided to share 2 orders of the Tex-mex eggrolls. I sometimes avoid ordering these because of the sad mush that is usually inside of the egg roll wrapper, but these were amazing. Crispy thick egg roll wrapper, crisp corn, tender black beans, and juicy chicken paired with the most addicting avocado ranch I’ve ever taste. To say these were good would be an understatement. 2 of us ordered the soup special of the day, loaded baked potato, while 1 ordered the lobster bisque. I’m a little disappointed these weren’t hot. I’m a stickler about hot food and lukewarm soup is just kind of sad. It tasted good and had a good texture but it wasn’t hot so I wasn’t crazy about it. 2 out of our party ordered the spinach dip as their entrees and both were quite pleased. My sister ordered the steak and eggs, the eggs were fluffy and cheesy and the steak was cooked correctly, she was very satisfied. My mother’s boyfriend ordered the eggs Benedict and his plate was clean and he was happy. My twin ordered the breakfast burrito and it was massive and delicious. My brother-in-law and I both ordered burgers. Mine had bacon, American cheese, frizzled onions, and a fried egg. I ordered it rare. This was one of the best burgers of my life. 1. It was huge 2. It was perfectly cooked 3. The fries were crispy but not greasy. I loved it. 7 entrees, 13 drinks, 2 appetizers, and 3 soups came to $ 195. Not a bad deal. I can’t wait to come back for dinner, but know I’ll probably be ordering the burger because I just can’t pass it up.
