Got hooked on teriyaki chicken here in the early 2000s. T Chicken still good. Tried the shrimp tempura… um…not what i expected. Batter tasted like i was eating a hush puppie. Shrimp itself… idk man… i say pass on the shrimp tempura.

This used to be my favorite sushi spot but lately they have been skimping on the portions. They have been cutting the sushi so small. I could definitely go somewhere else and get more sushi for the same prices.

It’s mall sushi, so my expectations aren’t high. The dumplings are obviously too perfect to be anything but frozen but they were fried well and were tasty. The shrimp tempura roll was decent but the rice was kinda hard. The spicy tuna just wasn’t right at all. I almost left most of it. It just didn’t have great flavor and, again, the rice. I mean, I generally only like rice with sushi and it’s kinda hard? Meh. I’ve giving this place 3 stars because I’ve had other sushi rolls and nigiri that have been just fine.

If you’ve followed my reviews you know that I hate Sarku Japan. However, when I visited the mall this week, I noticed a sushi buffet with real sushi chefs making rolls. I was intrigued. This was not attached to the actual Sarku Japan within eye shot. It wasn’t until after I ordered that someone pointed out that it said«sarkujapan» on the sign but oh well the damage was done. The dynamite, eel, and tuna rolls I ordered didn’t take terribly long to make and I could watch the chefs work if I felt so inclined. When it was finally done and I sunk my teeth in the the roll a smile grew on my face. It was surprisingly delicious! Perfect portion, sauce on the side, fresh fish and the flavors melted together. This was a product of SARKU?! Why weren’t they bringing this to the table at their main chain store? This was the type of sushi that would make me a customer, not these sad California rolls and failed attempts at dragon rolls. This is what I thought of when I mentioned sushi to people who had never tried it. My only complaint is that the prices were a little higher than I would think for a mall. But honestly, if this is an option in a mall, I’d pay a little more for the chance to have some real sushi prepared right.
