I’ve been to a lot of hibachi places and this place is okay. It’s not great and it’s not bad either. The chefs do their thing like they’re supposed to but it’s not as entertaining. I guess it depends on the chef that you get on your grill, ours was kinda boring. The food was ok, it could have been better honestly. I would come back here though because it’s the only one close to us.

So disappointed. The service was horrible, our waitress ignored our question asking for the ingredients in the yum yum sauce and the food quality was less than average.

Never Never Never again. I went here for a girls night out and it was so awful from start to finish. First of all the whole restaurant is dark and dreary. Most of the chairs has tears and holes in the seat cushions. I HATETHAT. Our waitress literally said two words to us. She was very unfriendly. I ordered a coke. When she delivered it she forgot to get me a straw. I said I needed a straw and she came back with a dirty rag in her hand and she had the straw in the rag. The rag was filthy. I took the straw — but threw it away. My glass had crusted food on it. I tasted the«coke» and it did not taste like coke at all… I thought maybe they gave me diet by accident so I walked up to the bar to request a new one and a new straw. Nope the«coke» still tasted like shit. Then they brought my soup and salad… both bowls ONCE again had crusted nasty food stuck to them. I dont know why its so hard to get clean utensils for your customers? Salad was at least fresh. Wheres the waitress… umm NOWHERE. Now the chef came. He was great actually. I ordered Chicken and Shrimp. NOT Chicken and pop corn shrimp. The shrimp were SOTINY. I have got to many many hibachi restaurants and never gotten pop corn size shrimp. What the hell was I paying for? Chicken tasted OK. Fried rice was GROSS and mushy. I love Hibachi fried rice and was sooo looking forward to it… uggh Horrible. ONLY smile the waitress cracked was when handing us the check. I was also up all night long with a horrible stomach ache. I will not be returning to this establishment EVER again. I hate paying like $ 35 dollars for one person only to have bad service and sub par food and unclean utensils. If you want good Habachi near Waldorf… seriously skip this place and drive North to Hanabi in Brandywine or go to the one in Old Town.

The food was good but the sushi was made really bad. The sushi was falling apart and could hardly eat it. Not worth the price for sushi for sushi that falls apart.

Take-out for dinner tonight. The salad was fresh. The steak was tender and deliciously seared. The veggies we’re mushy and heavy on mushrooms. Yum yum sauce was good. However… the chicken was awful. It was like eating mildly seasoned leather. The shrimp wasn’t deveined and was a little tough but nicely seasoned. All together the meal was average but I wouldn’t try it again. Fixing that chicken alone would make a world of a difference.

I have never had a bad experience here. We come here for almost every birthday and every Mother’s Day… It’s just always fun and a way for our whole family to bond… Yesterday, the entire restaurant was having a bad night, I know I’m not the only person who asked for the manager. I got a sour taste, the moment we walked in the door. I guess another customer was complaining about how they had been seated for 20 min and another table had their drink order taken before them. It seemed like a meeting because not one of them payed any attention to us. Finally the young host turned around and just said«is your party all here» with a major attitude from the«meeting» going on behind him. We had the same problem, another table’s drink orders were taken before ours and we had a full table… They didn’t. They have had some amazing chefs there over there years… But yesterday, I feel like I chef was pulled off the street and forced to make our food… He was ALLOVERTHEPLACE, it’s like he was nervous or something. He was talking more to the other group of people and not really paying attention to what he was doing with the food… The rice was undercooked, it was so crunchy. He forgot my shrimp appetizer so he got more and they literally laid on the grill for less then 3 min before he put them on my plate… I just know they weren’t cooked. So I didn’t eat them. I asked for well done steak because I was sharing my food with my 21 month old and it was far from well done… Like I said he wasn’t paying attention and was in such a rush to get everything done. Now to the bill… I saw a sign that said«18% will be added to checks for party’s of 5 or more» I PURPOSELY didn’t order my daughter anything because I knew they would count her as a 5th person if I did. So we get the bill, OFCOURSE when they ran our card they kept the original receipt we asked for it back and we saw the 18% had been added on. We asked our waiter why he added the 18% for a child who isn’t even 2 yet and he said«she took up a spot at the table» I immediately went to ask for the manager and asked why my not even 2 year old was added in as a service charge when she didn’t even order anything… She said«we must do it to ensure the waiter is tipped properly according to the amount of people he’s waiting on» I said«he didn’t wait on my daughter, I did. She didn’t order anything she ate from my plate there is no reason why she should of been added on as a service charge» and she pretty much told me «tough luck» Point being, we were going to tip at least 20%, so it was really his loss. I realize restaurants have and bad days, but they all were very careless and not in the mood to make customers happy yesterday. Well done Sakura of Waldorf

Glad I found this place on Unilocal. Came to Waldorf area to visit a family member and wanted to show her the hibachi experience! Food delicious! Service great! And large portions. Loved our chef :) A bit spendy, but what hibachi restaurant isn’t.

Just walked in this place for the first time to place a take out order… despite the low Unilocal rating… the rude dark-haired lady with red lipstick gave me these snarky looks when I asked questions about the menu… her tone was nasty so I told her to forget about it, I will go somewhere else to spend my money…

Besides being seated next to a vegan/vegetarian that delayed our meat orders… It was just as enjoyable as other Sakuras I’ve been to in northern MD Yes, their floor is quite sticky. But the food is good. Service was fine. And the chef was quite pleasant. It’s not an everyday place to eat. But on special occasions it’s worth it, I think.

Having ate here multiple times before, I can summarize Sakura by saying it’s expensive, you receive a humongous portion, the place does not feel clean but the food is good and on occasion you get a chef who enjoys entertaining. My kids love going here for the entertainment value of watching their food prepared in front of them. We walk away with plenty of leftovers for the next several days. The staff is friendly but always seems tired or disinterested. I have not tried the sushi yet as I go to another place in town. All in all, Sakura is decent if you go with a large group and expensive.

We have eaten here 3 times now and have yet to be disappointed. We eat in the sushi bar section even though I don’t eat sushi. The tempura Veggies are great and everyone who has had the sushi when we have gone has loved it. Lunch time the bento box is a great deal! But I have gotten the steak fillet hibachi style and it is wonderful, not a fan of the onion soup but the ginger salad and fried rice is tasty. The staff is very nice and service is quick, the only downside is the need for renovation. Feels a bit dingy and the tables feel sticky even though they were wiped down. We will defiantly go back, they were even kind enough to let us order from the kids menu for my elderly Mother in Law. She eats so little and hate to waste!

Great prompt service. Of course the food was good. Have you ever been to a Japanese Steak Restaurant where the food wasn’t good? Neither have I! Food was plentiful! My 3 year old loved the fires the chef made & it was hilarious watching her try to catch the shrimp in her mouth. The outside of the restaurant looks a little run down though. I know they can afford to upgrade! Anywho, staff was professional and nice and we left happy and full!

You don’t even need a long review for this place. It’s as simple as this, this place is absolutely AWFUL. You want a good Japanese grille check out Okada in st. marys. You actually pay good money for outstanding food. Any time someone mentions this place turn them in the other direction.

Food was freaking awesome here. I got the shrimp and steak with fried rice and tore it up. Mmm that seafood sauce really tasted good with the whole platter setup. It took a pinc too long for the food but that’s not a deal breaker. I will surely revisit again… soon

Cant i just get to write ONE favorable review nowadays??? Sakura… again… hadn’t been in years. took my oldest son and his wife, and my youngest son. Both boys home from the military. First thing i noticed walking in… no patrons… where were they? Huge restaurant… full of tables… no people. bad sign.turn tail and run if you EVER see this at a restaurant. But we took a deep breath and sat down… no others in site. the four of us waited for more people to sit at our table so we could eat. Finally three other people came and sat at our table, so there were 7 people at a table capable of holding 12, and no one else in site. Why? Well the number one reason i believe is complete lack of atmosphere… instead of upbeat Japanese music to set the mood, we had to listen to top 40??? Do i want to hear Adeles«Someone Like You» while i am trying to have a fun night out with my children i never get to see? What the Heck? Then, looking up i noticed that the ceiling tiles were stained with big round rust spots??? We held our breath and hoped for the best. Our chef was very nice, fun and amusing. the food ok, not great. as well. but the lack of atmosphere definitely ruined the experience. With so many places to chose in Waldorf, Sakura CEO’s need to take a look at this place and make big changes. Oh the money they are missing out on! Skip THIS Sakura, and go to one of the other million restaurants in the area… or better yet… skip Waldorf altogether…

I was surprised at the quality of sushi for a Japanese restaurant in Waldorf. Never tried their hibachi because I don’t like sweating next to a hot grill. I don’t think they would be appreciated in this location though. The demographic of the area are buffet all you can eat consumers with small budgets and a lot of kids. They should consider re-locating because they are also hard to find.

Love this place! Been here 3x and they are consistence to say the lease! Great for large groups. Food is great, try the shrimp, scallops and fillet. Excellent. Didn’t care for the salads. Skip it! Great wait staff, my glass was never empty!

The location is nice and the prices are average for fresh sushi and hibachi. They have Asian beers, full-bar, full sushi bar and several hibachi stations. This place isn’t somewhere you could eat every day of the week, but it’s great for a memorable night out. Plus, the staff is always super nice. Facility is always really clean and the food is hot(or cold if it’s suppose to be), fresh and fast. Always go back, when I get the chance.
