It’s a problem when you ask to substitute eggs for pancakes and the waitress says«my manager says we can’t». How difficult is it? We are the only 5 people in this joint. The golden rule in the food industry is to keep your customers happy so that they come back. I am not happy and I won’t be back.

We stayed at the Ramada on Saturday night and had to be up very early Sunday to travel to a sports competition for my son. We were told upon arriving at the hotel that we get complimentary breakfast at the Speedway. We figured that it would be pretty much like what the previous reviewer experienced at the Wingate. We were pleasantly surprised by the Speedway Café. My husband each got the eggs over easy with bacon for him and sausage for me. The home fries were outstanding. Eggs were made perfectly. My sausages were fine and bacon was well done. I agree with the first reviewer on the scrambled eggs. My son got the steak and eggs which was fairly pricy $ 13(only two free breakfast from a choice of five combos) but the steak was a really large and cooked perfectly. The eggs were served more of an omelet style. Service was efficient and attentive.

This café is one of three(yes 3!) prime eating establishments at the recently renovated Ramada Inn Vineland. We were staying across the way at the Wingate, and tired of the temperamental waffle iron and limp microwaved bacon, we decided to head over to the Speedway Café for a «real breakfast». Upon entering, there are shiny floors, new booths and tables, and a modern yet generic décor. Also, on the diner bar, there were a few covered cake stands with fresh baked muffins stacked inside. Only each muffin was individually wrapped in plastic from the factory. And therefore not fresh. This should have been reason enough for us to turn on our heels and head back to the Wingate for some free Raisin Bran and fruit. But we marched forward with abandon. We sat down and looked over the breakfast menu. Two eggs, toast, homefries and your choice of breakfast meat(including scrapple and, wait, pork roll? Awesome!) was $ 4.95. A tall stack of Pancakes for $ 3.95? Prices seemed right. I ordered the above egg dish and asked the server of her meat preference. She most enthusiastically replied, «I love the ham!» I was in the mood for something more processed, and despite applying my best Jedi mind trick efforts to subliminally get her to say the words«pork roll» she suggested bacon. Which I grudgingly agreed to. I complemented my bacon with scrambled eggs and wheat toast. Feeling ambitious, I confidently asked the server to bring me a short stack of pancakes as well. My friends ordered, and not 5 minutes later, our piping hot breakfast arrived. My scrambled eggs were like an omelette made from only the finest powdered eggs. Not watery at all! The three strips of bacon had been pressed on the griddle so firmly that they had fused into one brittle piece of almost undefinable origin. I am not convinced the brown bread on my plate contained any wheat. The homefries were definitely made out of genuine potatoes however, and this imparted an unexpected wholesomeness to the entire meal. My friend ordered a cheese omelette, which as you might imagine looked very similar to my scrambled eggs, but with a generous pool of runny, greasy, yellow cheese melted in the middle. Another friend got 3 eggs over easy and SAUSAGE. The eggs were genuine and satisfying, the sausage was also genuine in that it was derived from animal products. However, it was pretty much inedible. And that particular friend eats just about everything. Except the sausage at the Speedway Café it turns out… Finally, the short stack of pancakes: I would like to say they were fluffy and delicious, but ruined by the«syrup» which had the gloppy consistency of hot bubble gum. But the cakes by themselves were just as flaccid and uninspired as the eggs. We would have done better going for another round of waffles from a carton at the Wingate. At least those would have been free.
