I’ve been a member of BJ’s for years — grudgingly. There are certain items that I buy there that are definitely less expensive than at Wegmans bulk but still, there’s nothing that worthwhile about the store other than they have less expensive gas and propane. This BJ’s is smaller than most. The staff isn’t overly helpful nor friendly, and frankly, I hope they take a real hit when Costco opens next year. Yes, Costco is more expensive, but the selection is nicer and they cater to a bit more upscale crowd. Can’t wait for them to put BJ’s out of business! I must say that my review is also colored by the fact that I’ve had dealings with BJ“s corporate over the past several years as well. Probably one of the poorest run and most unfriendly of the box chains that I’ve ever had the experience to deal with.

Pretty decent prices, but you do have to buy in bigger volumes than you may normally buy. Shopped on a free temporary pass, not sure why you have to pay a member fee every year in order to shop here. Does it try to keep out those who can’t afford membership, they could not shop without money, is it to keep out the homeless? As a business they must make enough profit to stay in business — they cannot be surviving off the member fees, alone. The signage makes it somewhat tricky to figure out what are the total and per unit costs. Not sure if the effort justifies the apparent savings.
