Lots of stock(tons!) and great sales. They have all the name brands I like, Nike, Levi’s, etc. They are always staffed appropriately and they are friendly and keep things running smoothly. I always shop in here each time I’m at Eastview.

JCPenney is really your typical suburban boutique. You expect them to carry clothes of pretty much all sizes and shape at modest prices. Their policies haven’t always been the best in recent years but since then, they have improved greatly. Does that show in this store? Apparently so… With this part of Eastview Mall, it’s a more budget friendly alternative to shop it than at Lord & Taylor or Von Maur. When it comes to prices, they do vary on what you are looking for but they do have plenty of sales going on that seem to occur at least once a month. The items marked off are well priced, even though they can be «last-season» but if that doesn’t bother you, you will definitely catch some great deals here. I love clearance racks which has become my destination of choice in any major department store. This JCPenney to me is so far the best in terms of selection and price. I have walked away with a great amount of new hoodies for only a few dollars each along with other V-neck tees and even some plaid shorts. If you love deals, make this part of your JCPenney shopping experience. So on the store layout and design itself, it pretty much follows the same formula as most JCPenney’s do around the area. You have your separate divided areas for clothing and a section for housewares as usual but at least this store has the decency to keep everything in near tip top shape. Sure there are the occasional clothing items that aren’t picked up after and some of the dressing rooms aren’t that well maintained but the overall cleanliness of the store makes it a pleasant place to shop… it just has a good atmosphere. As most other JCPenney’s, this one always has a large selection of jewelry to purchase which does include watches. You’ll find a gem in here every now and then for a good price but unless you are really craving a new necklace, earring or bracelet, this area can be completely skipped, unless you enter through the mall’s inside entrance where you are faced directly with the glass cases. Just veer off to the either left or right to avoid temptation but if you want to indulge in a jewelry shopping spree, you’ll have a blast. Customer service is also another important factor in judging this store. With this being located in such a busy mall, you would expect the salespeople to be less helpful and attentive but it is actually the opposite. The sales associates and clerks are very helpful and always seem to have an upbeat positive attitude while they are working. It’s very nice to see that they do appear to like their job and make sure that customer satisfaction is the top priority. Not only does this make return customers like myself, but it makes the atmosphere light and comfortable. I am really blown away by this branch, considering other JCPenney’s haven’t been so hot. However, I can safely say this is an ideal store to visit when you choose to visit Eastview. Not only will probably save money, but you will most likely leave feeling better then you did when you entered!

I normally don’t shop much at penny’s but I had some time to kill so I wandered in. I was so impressed, it’s not the same penny’s that my grandmother shopped at where we would say thank you and return the gift the next day. The prices are reasonable and they actually had some nice quality items. I did most of my shopping in the shoe department where I cleaned up on some really great prices for some nice boots. The young man in the shoe department was incredibly friendly and very helpful(and he was easy on the eyes if you know what I mean ladies;-)). Rediscover j c penny’s, it’s well worth it!

Despite signs of sluggishness in the brick & mortar retail arena(RIP Bön Ton), it’s nice to see J.C. Penny making changes to their mix. It’s refreshing to say the least when you can interact with sales clerks who are actually helpful and seem to enjoy their job! I wish other stores(Macy’s, Von Maur & Sears) could do something to inspire their employees to perform at this level. We visited several stores shopping for a gift and noted that there was an air of despair hanging over the other stores. We were happy to find that the sales clerk who helped us make a watch purchase was genuinely interested in helping us find the best deal that night… and made sure we enjoyed the experience! Woo-hoo! Score one for J.C.Penny!

A fan of JCPenney? I know, I am questioning my own sanity. But ever since they completely rebranded themselves, I have grown to appreciate their price policy. You can always find great deals since they do not typically use coupons. I like that their stuff is priced reasonably all the time whereas other department stores have a habit of jacking up the prices and then running a «sale». The clearance racks at this particular store are a gold mine if you have some time on your hands eg. I bought a tweed wool pencil skirt for $ 12! The queues can be long and the customer service is hit or miss. This is really my only complaint about this store. Pro tip — avoid the teen employees… they get quite grumpy when you interrupt them during their talk about«OMG did you see what the hell she did to that guy?»(I actually overheard this exchange just before I asked them a question about where to find something… I got half an eye roll but it was accompanied by an accurate response).

Caveat, I can say that I only come to JCP about 3 times a year so take that for what is it worth, and that is mostly for the same few items. The store is clean and generally well lighted and easy enough to find the department your looking for, and for most items they do a decent job of having the merchandise fully stocked on the floor making it easy to find it. As JCP recently«re-branded» themselves with some kind of new pricing strategy they also thought it wise to move most items in the store about 50 to 75 feet from where they were before, which to me is annoying, but hey retail logic says move the merchandise around to make it seem like a new shopping experience. Can’t say I as appreciate that, because I am coming here to buy me some new tee shirts(they have Tall sizes of basic tees) or to buy my special lady friend the newest color of nail polish, both of which I want to be in the same spot as the last time I was here.
