I rarely review chain places, but will step outside my usual M.O. in the case of Maurices, and this Maurices, in particular. I’m a pretty big fan of the company, in general, because they serve their particular demographic really well, in my opinion… dressy-​casual, and affordable without taking a hit in the quality department. I’ve always worked in fields where it’s not quite business casual dress, but more upscale than a T-​shirt. Maurices serves this need well, and is my go-​to for a pretty good cross section of things I need to dress for. Well-​constructed clothes, overall, that can be dressed up or down as needed… I find them to be one of the more versatile stores of their type.
This store is small, in the more boutique size that most of their stores have gone to, but they never fail to carry whatever it is that I’m looking for. I should always hit Maurices first… too often, I shop around and am frustrated and not finding what I’m looking for, only to have Maurices come through. Catch them right at a sale, and you get QUITE a bit of bang for your buck, and I have items I’ve been wearing for years that show minimal wear, unlike some other stores that sell at a similar price point, but offer merchandise that is prone to pilling, bagging out, and looking worn quickly. As someone who is 5’10″ tall and varying between a size 18 – 20 in jeans, depending on the cut, I really appreciate that this store has more than a few options in denim sizes, and that they are fashionably cut, not dumpy/​matronly. I haven’t gotten a decent pair of jeans that’s NOT been from Maurices in years. Since I am not plus-​sized on top, I appreciate that they have a wide range of sizes… stores that cater sole to plus sizes don’t work for me, because I swim in their tops.
This store in particular has EXTREMELY helpful and personable sales associates. They are very on top of their game, without being offputting. Every time I have shopped in this store, I am approached by associates who are equally open to helping me pick things out, point me toward sales and deals, and will also leave me on my own to browse if I don’t need a lot of help. They are also very good about calling around to other area stores if something I want is not in the right size in their stock.

Maurice’s has a great selection of dressy-​casual and casual clothes. I’ve purchased a couple tops that are my go-​to items for work.
There are a couple downsides, but not enough to scare me away. The associates are a little too attentive. I hate to say that because I know it’s their job. Sometimes I’m really just there to browse and don’t need assistance. Especially since you can see the whole in one glance — it’s not that big where I’ll need to be searching around. Plus, half the store is plus size, so I know that half is out.
And lastly, often there’s only one or two sizes left of an item. I wish they would carry more!
But anyways… A solid 4 stars! Great deals if you shop their sale racks.
