I have been here before and thought it was okay. I would say 4 to 5 stars for friendliness normally, and 3 for the food. However, today was atrocious. When I arrived the place was empty. It started off good, I was greeted by the woman working by the till. I then went to the starting place to begin my food order and the young gentleman behind the counter was just staring off into lala land while he slowly put on his gloves. After not being acknowledged for nearly a minute, it became awkward. When he finally snapped to, I made light of the situation by stating that he must be tired. He stared at me blankly in an awkward way that is hard to describe but it came off as rude or angry. I then said how long I have stared off when I was tired too and chuckled the awkwardness off. He then became incredibly rude, acting as if I was talking to a wall, ignoring anything I was saying and got a harsh glare in his eyes… which then made it even MORE uncomfortable. To desperately get out of the awkward hell I was in, I finally told him that I was a counselor and, at this point, just hoped he was okay. He then rudely said«may I take your order». At that point I told him what I wanted but honestly, had I not been so hungry and on a time crunch, I would have walked out. He did soften his tone after glancing at my ID badge but, Wow, is all I can say because all I tried to do from the get-go was make light conversation and all he continued to do was get more and more rude and dismissive. Perhaps he was having a bad day but that is no excuse when you are working in a service industry. Needless to say, I will not be back anytime soon — especially when there is similar food near by.

Excellent speedy food for a fair price. Super cute décor in this location with surfboard tables and a funky island-style umbrella over one table. I crave their chicken tacos! Nice people too.

I will not be coming back!!! To sum it up. The food was over priced, cold, the staff obviously didn’t want to be there… I think nothing was up to temp. especially the meats!!! 18.96 is to much for two cold nasty burritos. The next day my daughter complained about not feeling good, threw up once. I’m not impressed, from now on its chipolte all the way. This place does not even deserve a star but since I have to rate it. one it is!!!

This Taco Del Mar is really good. The employees are friendly, and the food is fresh and hot. The serving sizes are large. The restaurant is clean. Come on Monday and get two punches on your punchcard. Fill up your punchcard and get $ 5 off your next order. It’s also in a nice area, and close to target:)

Pretty good Mexican food, with a beachy/Californian feel to the interior. Food is assembled on a line in front of you Subway-style. Pick your menu item(burrito, monidito burrito, bowl, etc), then your meat, type of beans, and any veggies. One of my favorite Mexican joints.

This is fast food without the drive thru. Food quality just above taco bell, taco time, or Dell taco. BUT…$ 4.00 for two tacos??? It’s a shell, meat, lettuce and cheese. Not big shells, no Grande size… that’s for two taco bell size tacos. That’s all you get. It’s .50 more for sour cream. Seems way overpriced, but maybe that’s just the way of food prices these days. Service was quick, but unremarkable otherwise.

I love me some mexican food! Been coming here for years and never had a bad meal! Taco Del Mar has delicious burritos and fantastic quesadillas! If you call ahead they’ll even make you fresh fish and cookies if you want! Such nice people and without the stomach aches that come from eating Del Taco or Taco Bell. They even have punch cards so you get to save money! Definitely one of my favorite affordable restaurants! :)

I typically avoid fast food when at all possible. I do have a few that I frequent on a rare occasion. Taco Del Mar being one. They may have other good items that I haven’t tried yet, but the Fish Tacos are what do it for me here. They are one of the best, fast food joint or not. Soft tortillas, crunchy cabbage, breaded fish that is firm when you eat it and not mushy. If you like Fish Tacos, then by all means make a trip that otherwise you may not have.

It’s tasty! It’s «Mexican» fast food that’s several steps up from Taco Bell. The food is fresh and prepared quickly. The inside is nice and has a surfer feel to it. Forget about Dell Taco and Baja Fresh, Taco Der Mar is what you want for tasty Americanized Mexican food.

I’ve enjoyed my food and experience here more than at most places. I think it gets a little bit of a bum rap from other reviewers who seem to really have an axe to grind. I’ll give it 4 stars because it’s better than most of the actual Mexican restaurants around who slop it on and throw it in a microwave or hot plate light. They make your food right there and it tastes much better than Subway! They are quick and it’s a decent value for what you pay. One thing I like better about this place than Baja Fresh: your breath and hands don’t smell like whatever it is that makes them smell like you ate at Baja Fresh… very garlic-y(not to mention it’s quicker and a lot easier menu to deal with). Things could be a little more seasoned, but that’s just my overly american palette wanting more salt. If this place didn’t also sound like«Del Taco», people would like it much, much more. Also, beer. They should sell Mexican beer.

Counter Service type restaurant If you’re looking for authenticity then you won’t find it here. Keep in mind that this place is Mexican inspired, but anything but authentic. They may or may not have what you are looking for… like seriously this place would make one feel like Taco Bell is exactly what represents Mexican Cuisine. I was curious and killing time so I descended up on this spot. I ordered their Carne Asada Burrito: which was decent at best, but I’ve had better a 1000 times over. They offered decent ingredients that were not conflicting flavorwise, but still proved rather bland. I did love that there was no gristle in the meat which is becoming more common these days. The décor definitely lends itself to the sea or surf culture so you can see that the proprietors were indeed trying. Where I’m from so many places open up that door then décor generally takes a back seat to everything else. Service was extremely nice by their staff. The place is kept clean. There is plenty of parking in this strip mall lot.

Ok, when your name means tacos from the(of the) sea, please live up to it! Mushy coating on a paper thin piece of bland fish rolled into a soft(somewhat soggy) corn taco shell… I’ll pass on the next opportunity.

I felt the Unilocal rating was a little unfair so I felt compelled to give a nod to Taco Del Mar. Nice to see TDM in the Couve. I prefer the stye of Mexican food they create over similar places. I didn’t have any issues with the staff, its not like they do table service ? I will be back and soon.

Decent food for a vegan/vegetarian in Vancouver. Not the best example of a «mission style» burrito but it’s large and a fairly decent deal. I like the choice of burrito skins(tomato, wheat, spinach). As far as drinks go there is fountain soda and a few juices(nantucket nectar?) and possibly beer.

A solid place to get some Mexican grub. Deli style service counter with a wide array of choices. The décor is cool without being obnoxious and makes you feel like you’re in a theme park restaurant.

I have always liked Taco Del Mar and was happy to find this one so close to home. The atmosphere is great with a lot more seating then I was used to. The staff was friendly and quick. I received chips with my burrito and found them really crisp and good. Salsa was great and no complaints on my burrito. Very satisfying. No this isn’t authentic Mexican. You can’t expect that from a chain. But this is a great place to go when you need something in your tummy for a good price.
