DO NOT BUY, can’t tell you how many times I’ve tried to give this bread a chance, ALWAYS MOLD, always, with in a day, so I usually get once slice out of a pack of bread before it gets thrown away, and I live close to them so it should be fresh. Very frustrating and unprofessional since bread mold is very bad for you.

Note you can’t buy at this location: Truckee Sourdough Company distributes to local and chain stores nearby. I want to give a 5 star review, but just can’t. Where the bread is distributed, it’s hit or miss on freshness. The old trick of squeezing the bread to tell freshness is hardly reliable. So I get a good loaf one time, next trip something too stale to actually eat, and so on. If there was a retail outlet at the bakery, I’d stop every time.

This is the game changer of breads. Live in So. Cal & look forward to trips to Sacto area just to buy a few loaves. Dense & flavorful. Forget about making sandwiches out of this. Just toast & spread the butter. Enough said. Thank you.

I generally like their breads often found on offer in local delis and grocery stores. This time I found their little stand on Truckee Thursday and paid $ 5 for a pretzel — a little spendy but I’ve got a 10 year old niece staring at me with tearful brown eyes begging me, so ooooookay. UGH. No me likey. The pretzel was fairly tasteless and was very chewy. The cheese they offered with it tasted really … off. Anyway, we threw it away after just a few bites. I think I’ll stick with their breads and not rely on their impromptu oven in the middle of the street on Truckee Thursday.

Recommended by the bakery worker in my local Sam’s Club. No sour taste. San Luis Cracked Wheat Sourdough(round) is WAYBETTER !!!

For a very long time I bought the Cabatta rolls and LOVED them. Always got them at Grocery Outlet in Citrus Heights. Bought a bag about 2 months ago and they went back very fast. I actually returned them to the store and I did notice there was no date on them. Stopped by The Grocery Outlet in Sacramento yesterday and they never heard of them. I know several years ago they also carried them. I told the owner about them and hoping they will start getting them delivered. I’m just hoping that my experience 2 months ago was a fluke? I’m going to try the Citrus Heights store tomorrow… and I’ll check back with my report. O:)

Super yummy bread! My husband and I have been fans for a long time. Our favorite is the sourdough ciabatta and walnut batard. Also, baguettes are perfect for having with spagehtti. Their claim to fame is the freshness, they deliver fresh every morning. Available in Bel Air/Raleys(not so well known secret, unlabeled bread at Trader Joe’s is Truckee bread.)

I found this brand while on vacation in Tahoe. I saw it at several local stores before running across the factory sign in Truckee. From what I understand, they don’t have a retail location for the bread, but it would be a nice tourist attraction if they did.

I am so happy that someone at this company(or at Safeway, not sure) decided to put plastic wrap around their bread! I have refused to try it at Raleys and Safeway because I was never willing to buy something that was so exposed to other people touching it. Kudos on this great decision and I have to say that the Garlic Sourdough loaf was beyond tasty! Just heat it up in the oven at 400 degrees for about 12 –15 min… absolute decadence…

I used to buy Truckee Sourdough at Scolari’s quite often, but no more. No date tags is a huge turn off, not to mention that they seem to leave the bread available for sale until it’s so hard that you can break a window with it. For the most part I bake my own bread, but when I don’t have time I now buy from whole foods, or in a pinch will pick up a loaf of La Brea par-baked.

Had the sourdough bread at Squeeze Inn Truckee and Mountain Mos! The best bread ever! Light and airy, very fresh!

Great sandwich buns. Nice crust, soft pillowy interior. An excellent holder and compliment for a Carolina style pulled pork sandwich.

The good news is they seem to have tuned the«concave bottom» issue out to a large degree. The bad news is they have migrated to no date stamping at all. The Cibatta rolls used to have inconsistent date tags VS. wire closures. Now they only have twist wires, so apparently it’s permanent. I just bought a package, and the flavor is not as delicious as I recall, can’t put my finger on it, but just kind of «plain», does not seem to have the sweet«ish» taste that I recall. But without the date tag, a low use bread fan like me can not buy the freshest available to increase the chance it won’t mold before I use it in 3 – 4 days. I don’t like to freeze bread, so If I buy anymore of this stuff, it won’t be in the summer. +1 for tuning up the caved in bottoms — 1 for dropping the date tags on bread that spoils fast. I have been buying tons of Great Basin Bread, really good stuff !!!

Delicious. Ran across this brand while on vacation in Tahoe — they carry it at the local Safeway and Save-Mart. Loved the rosemary ciabatta and the multi grain was good considering I don’t usually enjoy pre-sliced loaves :) And my niece and nephews loved it — so definitely kid friendly. That ciabatta went pretty quick, since it makes the yummiest pressed grilled cheese sandwiches — try it with white cheddar and some sweet cream butter. Hot happiness on a plate! They don’t have their own retail location(yet ;), but deliver fresh every morning to the local stores. Definitely worth tracking it down if you’re around.

I have never been to their actual bakery, but we normally buy their bread from SPD market in Grass Valley. And can I just say that if I ever have to drive up to Truckee to get a fresh loaf, in the snow, without chains, and with no heater… I would! Every slice is so delicious and so yummy, nomnomnom. It goes perfect with some olive oil, butter or clam chowder soup. Once I take that first bite, I’m in heaven.

We were in Tahoe for Thanksgiving and my family said I needed to try the sliced sourdough for breakfast. It was the best toast I have had in many years. On the way back to Seattle we stopped at Railey’s and bought all they had to bring home! The freezer is full. You will love this bread.

Truckee Sourdough Company produces the most amazing garlic bread I have ever had! With whole cloves of garlic baked into delicious sourdough, it is an amazing side for soup(think clam chowder, particularly), spaghetti and so much more. You can pick up Truckee Sourdough Company products at Safeway in Truckee or as we did at Ikeda’s Market in Auburn.

I tried both their regular Sourdough Round and Walnut Rye Sourdough Round. For their regular Sourdough Round, the aroma was nice(ly sour) but the taste was not as great. I liked Safeway’s own Sourdough much better than Truckee’s. Somehow, Truckee’s sourdough round is too dense, and the tanginess was not as strong and texture not as chewy. It was picture pretty though. I only give this sourdough 1 star. See the pics I posted. But I do like their Walnut Sourdough. It looks purplish inside, has stronger flavor and texture, maybe due to the walnuts. There are real walnut pieces inside, and the dense texture was fitting with the walnuts. Nut bread are almost always denser. Smelled sour and did taste sour. I give this 4 stars. Recommended. I bought these at the Safeway in Truckee(Donner Pass). I tried calling their number posted to check if they have a store front, but it only went to a voicemail asking to leave an order. So I don’t think they have a store.

I loooove their ciabatta rolls, much better than the ones Safeway makes. Their goods are available at Save Mart and Safeway in Truckee. I highly recommend that you check them out and support local business! I always buy a bag of rolls when I go up there, and bring one home. Not sure if they actually also have a store front… will have to check it out next time I go…
