You know when you walk into an expensive boutique store, see a beautiful piece marked up outrageously, and mutter, «I can make that myself at home!», then realize you’ll never actually haul out everything you’re going to need to make it at home, so you end up spending too much money on something you could make at home but are too lazy to? Yeah, that’s what I thought of too when I saw the wax-dipped sugar pine cones on sale for about $ 20 each. But it was so beautifully done… After agonizing over the fact that I was spending $ 20 for a sugar pine cone I could find on a Sunday summer hike for free, I bought one anyway for my mother, who is trapped in a high rise building in a major New Jersey city and whose idea of nature is feeding the crazy psycho pigeons who hang out on her living room window ledge. She now has that sugar pine cone to remind her that her daughter lives in beautiful Tahoe!
