We had a great dinner at The Lodge. Awesome service and the best halibut I’ve ever had… cooked to perfection. Our waitress Tessie was very accommodating and friendly. Over the years, The Lodge hasn’t lost its quality, it has only gotten better! The ahi poke was also delicious and a generous portion of ahi for the price. If you’re in the area, stop by for a great meal!

Wow, what a great find! Really, really good food and excellent service at such a great price. I’m a long time country club member(very high end club in the Bay Area) and this place was as good or better than my club. Will for sure return next time we are in Tahoe.

We usually stay in Reno when we go skiing, so we can be near my favorite Sunday brunch buffet at Sterlings. My tummy is getting a little bigger from all the good eats, so no buffet this weekend! :) We decided instead to stay in the village at Northstar, so we can have more time skiing. This of course forced us to try and identify new go-to eating spots. After perusing menus, we decided on the lodge. The prime rib had caught my eye, so off we went. The restaurant is nice. We decided to sit in the bar area, so my BF could watch basketball. The menu in the bar is the same as the main restaurant. The service was nice and we received our food quickly. We started with the CALAMARI appetizer. It was good. The calamari was tender with a nice crisp coating. The chipotle aioli sauce was good. I did end up choosing the GRILEDANGUSRIBEYESTEAK. Ugggghhh. Epic fail! I ordered medium well. The steak came and it was actually well done. It was a large cut, so I cut into several different places, and no pink whatsoever. It was also dry and tasteless. Not good at all. There was a large pat of the gorgonzola and green peppercorn butter on top, but it could not hide the dryness or the blandness of the steak. I probably could have returned the dish to have it replaced, but I thought it could still potentially be bland so I didn’t say anything. I ate a few bites and that was it. I didn’t even take it to go. My BF ordered the ROASTEDLAMBSIRLOIN and he said it was very good. His favorite is lamb, so he has eaten many versions of it. Very bummed out. I wanted to love it, because my BF loved his dish, but I don’t think I would go back for fear of another food fail on top of a large bill. I ended up ordering to go elsewhere, because I was still hungry.

We tried to take a visitor from out of town to this restaurant. There were very few customers. The waiter wanted to make sure we knew that he was way too cool to wait on us. After he had walked by us 4 times without acknowledging us in any way, we left and will never be back. Incidentally, we saw him at his car as we were leaving. He was getting his sun glasses.

Food was delish but service was one of the worst I’ve ever experienced. Water glass was constantly empty, appetizers came right away then dinner came what felt like a day later. The table left of us was cleaned as we ate our 1st course, totally unappetizing to have a chemical sprayed next to you as you’re eating. Table right of us waited even longer for their entrée, which was only a hamburger and salad. Oy! Food wise: Thai soup was an American version that makes the original better, calamari was done to perfection, short rib entrée saved them from a 1 star rating Good luck! Hopefully their service is usually better.

Not sure where to begin. Our server stood about 5ft away from us and was the most unfriendly and awkward server I have ever experienced. We saw tables around us getting bread so I asked why we didn’t get any– and the response was you have to request it. Ok sorry I have never been here before. I ordered the acorn squash that was awful. It came with an unseasoned/bland wild rice, and the squash itself was something I couldn’t even palate. Then the waiter brings our check after we asked it for it– with«here you go». no thanks for coming. no hope you enjoyed your meal. will never be going back.

Had a wonderful experience here. Sat in the bar on a crowded Friday night. Peter, the manager, went out of his way to make sure we were taken care of when he realized his crew was slammed and couldn’t wait on us right away. It’s nice to see a manager Roll up his sleeves and dive in where needed to help his crew out and give customers a great dining experience. Honestly he was busy the whole time we were there: bussing tables, pouring waters, taking orders, seating guests, and running food out. Every restaurant should have such a hard-working manager. Peter is the man!

We’ve eaten at Lodge three times now(twice in the dining room and once in the bar area), and had an excellent experience each time. We were pleasantly surprised at how tasty the food is – especially the short ribs. The service was top-notch and we love how convenient the location is to our place in Tahoe Donner. We’ve tried several of the restaurants in downtown Truckee and find the quality of the food and ambiance at The Lodge matches any of them.

We had a lovely Valentine’s day dinner here. After enjoying a Chandon champagne split, we started with a nice market salad which we shared and there was plenty for each of us. Very fresh mixed greens(organic I believe) with lots of other veggies and yummy dressing. The farm-style bread was so warm and delicious we ordered a second basket! I had the skirt steak and my husband had the NY sirloin. The sides that accompanied the meat were crisp and fabulous(we asked for extra veggies instead of the starch and they were happy to accomodate our request). We brought a special bottle of wine and the $ 17 corkage fee was reasonable. We shared the chocolate soufflé-type dessert which was absolutely perfect and came with 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream. Overall our meal was well priced for the quality of food, ambiance and service. We will definitely eat here again when we come to Truckee.

Love the Lodge, however last nights dinner fell off the mark. Everything for the most part was a beat off. Service and wine was fantastic A+, food got a C.

I think this place is a little on the pricey side for what you get, but the food here really was fantastic. I also think the environment and ambiance are great as well. I got the short ribs for dinner, and it was delicious. It cut easily, very tender. Not overcooked one bit. We also had an infant, and they were very accommodating by turning a high chair upside down and letting us put the infant car seat in the slot created by the base of the chair. Genius! Before dinner, we spent time at the bar watching football. The drink selection was good, and the bartenders were friendly! If you find yourself staying in the Truckee area, and you’d like to have a classy dinner one night, The Lodge is a great place to go and make that happen!

Went in on NYE for drinks and an early dinner. Waaay overpriced menu for what we usually have. My burger, because of add ons was over $ 18. For a burger. We left about 7:00 went to a few other places then returned at 11:15 pm. Figured we ring in the new year closer to home. We walked in and they were closing. Closing 45 minutes from the new year. Why? There were 20 people milling around. Just seemed ridiculous. Stay open!

I almost never go to the same restaurant twice when I travel, but this one is so good it became an exception. We had papardelle bolognese(I had it 2 days in a row!!!), salmon gravlox, clam chowder, and chicken pot pie. All of the above was excellent, exquisite but hearty, even their bread is beyond praise. Portions are decent size but not huge so you can enjoy more than one dish. And finally, service, they found us a table on Christmas eve last minute, which was great, Then they asked us to switch seats, which is normally annoying, but they were so courteous, thanked us so so many times, and brought us appetizers as a compliment, that we felt extremely VIP:) Great place for dinner all around, highly recommended

This this place is fantastic. The food is fantastic and consistent. You can always get a good meal with great ambience and a friendly staff. We couldn’t help order multiple courses. Ask for Karli, she was wonderful.

Didn’t get what I expected-we got more! This little place at a golf course was fantastic. The food and the service was exceptional. Wish I had known you could bring a bottle of wine into a place that sells it though! I highly recommend this place! Very good and off the beaten track of Trukee and all the tourists!

Great food, comfy atmosphere and great servers. Plus they had a wine special going. I’d say get the Kale salad instead of the warm spinach — they drenched that one a little too much. The special bone-in ribeye was out of this world. We’ll be going back for sure …

Came on a Saturday night at 6:30 with a party of three. Bar was packed. Waited about 15 – 20 minutes for seats at the bar. Kobe beef and cheddar sliders w/string fries — 4 stars — my slides were cooked to a perfect medium rare and were very tender. The fries were good as well. Icelandic mule — 4 stars — good drink. Paul was our bartender and he was on the ball! Everyone on staff and even the patrons were friendly. Noise level in bar was bar level. You could still hold a conversation but it is not were you want to sit if you want a quiet meal. There are three TV’s in the bar. Nice atmosphere! Cozy yet still a little refined. Lighting in the bar was low which is exactly the way I like it:-) I plan to come again and check out some of the main entrees. I will review again then as you can not rate a place on sliders alone. or can you:-) Plenty of parking. Bathrooms were the only negative for me. The main doors to both the men’s and women’s bathrooms are right across from each other and were both propped open so you could see and hear inside. I did not like this at all! In fact, I tried to close the door to the women’s bathroom but couldn’t get it to unlatch easily. Note — bar started to clear out a bit around 7:30. Not too much but at least you could grab a seat right away.
