This place has surprisingly good sushi considering it’s location! They have excellent specialty rolls and a wide selection of Asian dishes. It is definitely good for the person craving sushi in Troy. I personally think that their rolls are quite a bit better portioned and the fish quality is better than sushi king. You can order through grub hub and they deliver within 20 – 30 minutes! It is like being in NYC where you can have late night sushi cravings fulfilled and delivered to your door!

It has a sushi bar and some tables for 2 – 4 people and some bigger round tables at the back. I never ordered sushi here because I always go to a real Japanese place for sushi. The best dish here is hand torn cabbage. A must try! Overall the food tastes good.

Ate here once and probably won’t he returning. The tofu dishes were soggy and Jello-like in texture. Ordered a boba tea which came to the table room temp. However, service was fast and friendly.

Very disappointed this last time! We have been to Red & Blue numerous times. The food this time was below expectations. We ordered the pineapple fried rice, which is always a hit with our group; and it was full of FAKE crab, only 3 pieces of pineapple and lacked flavor! The other«Chinese» dishes were not as good as they had been in the past. The american dream was fabulous as always… Time for me to move on and let the College students get sub par food.

I get delivery from red and blue. Their sushi is fresh and tasty. I love their fried dumplings and sauce… I love dumplings and they have the best I have found in the Troy area. Highly recommend!

The food is okay, depending on what you get. I was really disappointed with some dishes because the food was very very greasy and almost tasteless. There are some dishes you might as well just make yourself and the prices for the portions aren’t worth it. I ordered an appetizer of fried calamari and the calamari was so soggy. as if it was drenched in water.

Red and blue’s specialty is Szechuan cuisine. Therefore, you should focus on ordering Chinese food with heavy spices if you decide to visit. They often have specials written on the blackboard but it is in Chinese so you may need to ask for a translation. The specials are a refreshing change for those who done out on a regular basis.

I’m a bit baffled by this restaurants good ratings, as we came here based on the positive Unilocal reviews? Neither the seaweed salad nor the sashimi appetizer we’re fresh. I’m not overly picky, but I couldn’t bring myself to eat them. Then the vegetables in the rather mediocre drunken noodles had sand in them! It was so bad, I was too embarrassed to complain without offending the staff. Besides, I’m not sure they could have replaced our meals with better quality ingredients. Needless to say, we won’t be back.

I ordered delivery from Red & Blue with serious reservations. I’ve driven past it, it looks sketchy and no good. When you crave sushi, you crave sushi — you know? I was scared enough to order the Maki Combo C which only has cooked rolls. I also ordered a plain tuna roll, as a «raw fish» control. I was pleasantly surprised. The shrimp tempura roll was the best of the three. I love the actual crunch, not just soggy panko. The American dream roll was good, but creamy and covered in mayo — not a great example of the fresh, light, simple-ness of sushi I usually enjoy but it was still pretty good. The miso was well flavored as well, not too salty but only tiny amounts of tofu and seaweed. The tuna roll wasn’t great, over-inundated with wasabi so you couldn’t taste the fish. Maybe this was purposeful, because while I didn’t get much tuna flavor, the texture was tough. Regardless, I’m definitely going to be a little bit more adventurous next time with ordering. Red & Blue, while boasts a super sketchy exterior, makes decent sushi and delivers to my house! No one said it was going to be the best, curated sushi you’ve ever eaten. I look forward to my next meal from here(hopefully with a coupon!)

Delicious meal and great delivery service! Strongly recommend! And the delivery guy is really interesting. It seems like he drives different car every time and really cool. If he is busy, the manager would even help to deliver by herself, which is really surprising to me

I am a sushi addict and always try to find good places in the capital region. Red and blue did not disappoint. Have I had better, yes but with the groupon deal I had to try this place out. Roles were fresh and pretty big! I ordered the Magic, amazing tuna and New York roll. All three were big and tasted great. I do go during lunch so I ordered a lunch chicken dish as well. The hot special chicken was pretty salty and fried(which I didn’t know or I wouldn’t of ordered). I was looking for a spicy chicken in sauce and instead was a fried dish. Although that wasn’t the best, I still give this place 4 stars based on the sushi, cleanliness and portions of the food. Definitely would go back for more sushi!

I have eaten here about 50 times since my last review. The sushi is the best in the area. Their lunch specials are a very good bargain. Three sushi rolls with miso soup is $ 11.

I really didn’t want to like this place. I’ve been twice to Red & Blue now; convinced by Groupons that were just too good to pass up. Ever since I arrived in Troy, I heard negative things about Red & Blue: it has cleanliness issues, there is no way quality fish is in Troy, and you can’t trust a restaurant that serves Japanese and Chinese. I didn’t trust the first two, but the later issue concerned me. How do you judge a place that has an identity issue? Many restaurants serve many fares of different origins, but they generally are a fusion. Red & Blue has a clear divide between their Japanese and Chinese. The best way, I presume, is to try both. The Chinese is good, perhaps the best in Troy(not much competition here). I ordered the Squid with Salt and Pepper. It was lightly breaded and fried, but in the vertical style. Chili pepper sauce was served over it. It was fairly good for the dish itself, but I was a little disappointed it was fried. I tried some of my friend’s dish, the Dry Pot Beer Duck. It was amazing. Dry pot is simply when they bring the dish to you in a steel pan with a flame underneath to keep it hot(boiling in fact). The duck itself was fall-off-the-bone tender which was necessary because there were a lot of bones. The dish itself was very spicy for what everyone expected, but luckily our party is a friend to heat. The Japanese is good, definitely the best in Troy(again, no competition here). Sushi/Sashimi Platter for 2 was what we ordered. For the price paid, it was an awesome value. The quality of the fish was essentially there except for the tuna, which wasn’t up to my standard. The yellow-fish was excellent and the mackerel was very buttery. Very satisfied; my only qualm was that we had to choose between soup and salad, which really should include both. Averaging the two experiences, Red & Blue does both Japanese and Chinese fairly well and is a great price-point to boot.

They deliver. This sounds like a good thing but I might be single handedly putting all of their kids through college… I highly recommend the magic roll. I love their sushi but have not been thrilled with their other menu choices.

I had a groupon for Red & Blue which was set to expire this week, so we stopped by for dinner on a Wednesday night. The restaurant was pretty empty so we were seated right away. Service throughout the night was great, but the food was just ok. We started off with a couple of rolls(spicy salmon and a tokyo roll). Both rolls tasted great. Husband got a bento box for dinner with beef teriyaki, and I went with an order of kung bao shrimp. The bento box was fine. After we got our food, we realized that we forgot to tell our waitress that we don’t eat pork(which was in the gyoza), so the waitress replaced it with shrimp. The beef was a little too sweet and the tempura was really bland. My entrée was pretty bland as well. If I were to come back to Red & Blue it would definitely be for the sushi. It’s nice to have a good sushi option in Troy, especially one that delivers.

So my girlfriend and I decided to check this place out. We live close to Red and Blue, and both have recently developed an insatiable desire to consume sushi and human flesh on a regular basis. Just kidding, we don’t consume human flash, because it is not nearly as tasty as sushi. We have been to a lot of sushi places here in the Capital District and have had mixed results across the board, but Red and Blue is great. We read the other reviews here, including some of the negative ones, and have found a lot of the negative reviews to be unfounded. The sushi rolls are tasty. If you are tired of going to sushi places that use more rice than fish, this is your place. The presentation is elegant and appealing. I got the Tuna and Salmon rolls and they were both very tasty. The place was very clean. The staff was friendly and responsive. The prices were reasonable. We look forward to returning again next week!

This gem on 15th really sets itself apart from other Chinese restaurants in the area. Not only do they offer your traditional dishes such as General Cao’s, Hunan Chicken, etc. but they also have real Chinese food and they do it well. So whether you’re looking for what you’re used to, or are willing to try something new — rest assured you’re getting great quality either way. Sushi is awesome and tastes super fresh. Dumplings are great too and they give you a great portion. Service is attentive, friendly, and fast. I didn’t have a problem identifying the entrance, and I didn’t even go to RPI!
