We had had a great trip here! The staff were super nice and the wine was quite good. The cheese platter was the highlight, great prices and great selection!

I have been visiting the Traverse City area for 20+ years and have watched many vineyards pop up in the area. Decided to take our first vineyard tour last week and was most impressed with Bry’s Estate. Friendly service both in the tasting room and on the deck — and you can taste for $ 1! Such a great deal. The deck is also a place you could spend an entire afternoon with a beautiful view. Delicious apps and wine is always served at the perfect temperature.

I visited this winery on a wine tour — it was the 2nd place we went to and man — it was fantastic! Their cab and their pinot… Yum. The only thing that disappointed me is that they’re in Michigan and I live in Colorado. Meaning it’s going to be awhile before I am able to visit them again. The staff are very friendly and the property is beautiful. You can tell this winery is run by people that love what they do.

My girlfriend and I visited four wineries on our trip up Old Mission Peninsula: Peninsula Cellars, Château Grand Traverse, Brys Estate and Two Lads. Peninsula Cellars was the most laid back. Château Grand Traverse had the best variety of wines. Brys Estate was our favorite tasting room and Two Lads had the best view. Brys Estate has a gorgeous tasting room. It’s quite small, but there are some nice chairs and a couch. If you’re lucky enough to grab one of those seats, you can take your time sipping wine and chatting up your drinking companions. I seriously want their tasting room to be in my dream house someday. The bar for tasting is very small and I had to ask people to move so I could slide up to order each glass. The server was friendly. Brys Estate offers very few wines to taste(6 or 8 if I recall?) That’s kind of odd. Also odd that some of them come with really goofy labels. We walked away with a bottle of Boris(sweet blush) and the label says Wally’s Wineyard.(Huh?) It has a drawing of a pig wearing a baseball hat smoking a cigar. That’s totally at odds with the classy vibe of the place. Bizarre.

This is one of our very favorite wineries on the Old Mission Peninsula. The staff is very friendly, helpful and attentive, and they know their wine. I love the Pinot Noir — and that is not a favorite varietal of mine — and the other reds; yes, you can find outstanding red wine in Michigan. If you visit, do opt for the cheese plate; our party enjoyed ours very much. One of us also tried the ice wine with cheesecake — very tasty, and something to share because the wine is pretty potent! The tasting room offers a small, comfy sitting area inside and a large outdoor terrace overlooking the countryside and Little Traverse Bay; also Adirondack chairs on the front lawn near the grapes. Gorgeous winery; great experience.

This was the only place of the day that did some wine mixes(sangria, bojito, mulled wine). It added some different tastes of the day, and they have a great elevated deck, looking out over the vineyards. After the tasting, a few of us even split some cheesecake. very good!

Limited selection. Black Star seemed better(more tastings, better pours, free glasses!)

This is the Rolls-Royce of winery’s in the Traverse City area. We visited here during our day long winery tour of the Grand Traverse Bay and the place definitely has a very swanky and elegant feel to it. I felt a little under dressed wearing a polo and shorts, but after entering in and seeing the other people there who were dressed way more down than me I didn’t feel so out of place. The lady who did our tasting for us was very open and inviting. She made sure to make small talk and joke around with us while she explained each offering we selected. As for the wine, everything was very good and we ended up walking out with five different bottles to take home. Next time we are back up there I really want to take time to sit out on their deck and take in the views as their are simply breathtaking. We were running short on time and still had a few more stops so we didn’t get the chance to this time around.

Wow! What a view! Enjoy a glass of wine and a cheese platter on their outdoor deck. Wine is delicious and staff is great. One to visit again.

Decent vineyard and winery with a nice porch and plenty of people. It seems like a great venue for group gatherings and events. I didn’t love the service. The person who served us at the bar for our tastings was abrupt and rude, demanded payment prior to the tastings(it was a little strange…), and was oddly pretentious. This all stood out when an older couple approached the bar, whom he had never met, and he was just gushing and actually polite. It seems like this winery is a local favorite, but with service like that, I certainly wouldn’t return.

Therese H. has done some wine touring in this area, and bottles from BE were the best she brought home. The day we visited was the hottest in July, and I didn’t feel like tasting too much. Still, what a beautiful place, and what a deal it is to join a wine club. Looking forward to our first shipment before Thanksgiving!

The wines we tasted were delicious, maybe the best Michigan wines I’ve ever had. Had a classic feel to it, very classy and refined(felt slightly underdressed even). Recommend the Signature White!

The staff were very friendly. All the wine stations offered a selection of a sweet and a dry wine. They were all very good and I discovered a new wine. The view from the back porch with a little wine and cheese was a great way to top it off

you cannot go wrong with sitting on Brys’ deck — it’s so perfect it’s not even funny. sure, you can come and wine taste, no matter the season. but to experience a truly bomb .com time here, take advantage of the aforementioned deck. do a taste at the bar downstairs, then order yourself some wine(it is a winery, after all), and enjoy it with some of their small plates. there are even umbrellas on most of the tables for the sun-sensitive types, and their extended hours are sublime for us 9 – 5 working folks.

Of the three wineries we tried today on the peninsula, this was by far the best. All the wines were clear and crisp and to our liking(but too expensive to take a bottle home). After the flight we sat on the deck and enjoyed great cheese, bread, and prosciutto. This was an absolutely gorgeous vineyard, both inside and out. Very impressive.

This winery came recommended by other wineries and patrons. What a let down. They only had 5 wines to try and 3 were white(I do not like white) The wines that were there to try were bland and lacked luster. They had only 2 reds and one was extra money to taste. They are overpriced per bottle in my opinion. They need more flavor in the wines and a lingering finish. We had a meat and cheese board while we were there it was not bad, and had a lot of variety on it. I would say skip this one, the staff forces wine on you that you do not like and know you do not want to try. When I say I enjoy heavy reds and you tell me to try your lightest white and that its good sorry it was bland and lacked any flavor.

Aesthetically this place is 5 stars and the wine is very good, too. However, I find that the wine is a bit pricier than the rest of Mission Peninsula with no noticeable uptick in quality. As Joe B. said, I’m not a refined connoisseur of wine either, so take what I say lightly. The problem I have with Brys Estates is that every time I come in here, I feel like I’m treated differently because I do not look like a wine connoisseur. I generally find myself in the company of older people who seem to get treated much better — more attention, bigger pours, etc. It’s kind of off-putting. We’re planning on coming back to the area in November and I’m strongly considering skipping this stop just for that reason.

SLAMDUNK. BINGO. DINGDINGDING. WHAMMIE. WHOPPER. WINNERWINNERCHICKENDINNER. This place is heaven on Earth. Hands down, my favorite stop on the wine trail. I can’t. I just can’t. Think of anything bad to say. Such a lovely staff, wines that will knock your socks off, and a badass charcuterie plate to boot. The view will make you want to light yourself on fire. Seriously breathtaking.
