Had an unforgettable time at the Bowers Harbor Vineyards tasting room after proposing to the fiancé. We were in town for the weekend to get away and I was planning on proposing to my at the time girlfriend, so I wanted to have a nice intimate and romantic day visiting some of the local wineries while soaking in the amazing scenery on the Old Mission Peninsula. After proposing, this was the very next place we went to celebrate and sample some local wines. Kevin was serving us in the tasting room and he was awesome. We each deciding to do a 5-sample tasting for only $ 3! As we looked at the wine list, Kevin was there to answer any and all questions and make recommendations based on our preferences. The wine were all very good and we certainly enjoyed them. Kevin even knew we had tuned-in palettes as we both work in the wine and spirits industry and made it fun by pouring us similar varietals/vintages and asking us what we thought the difference were. Our recent proposal, literally an hour earlier, came out and Kevin poured us a small sparkling sample to toast to us. The tasting room itself was very cozy and welcoming. It lies right on the vineyards with a view of the West Bay. We were told that in the summer, they do live music outside which sounds like such a great time. I cannot express how much we enjoyed ourselves here between the atmosphere, wine, friendly staff, and celebrating our engagement. It certainly will be in our memories and we will definitely return on our next visit to TC.

Good wine and cider. Have to try all of the different types of ciders they have — delicious. My favorite was raspberry cider and up buying a bottle of it. Helpful and knowledgeable staff.

Our group of ten toured 4x wineyards last weekend and this place had the friendliest and most personable staff. Sorry that I forgot her name, but our group was not shy about complimenting her for excellent service and overall knowledge… she rocks! Staff at other vineyards were not rude, they were just going thru the motions, another day, more tourists, talk about the wine, blah blah. Bowers Harbor really stands out, highly recommend.

This is such a quaint place with lots of outdoor seating and tasting areas. They had heat lamps to keep us warm, the service was friendly, and we got some great pictures in the vineyard after. Fun times :-)

This was my favorite place to enjoy a glass of wine after tasting in Old Mission Peninsula. We visited Black Star Farms, Château Chantal, Chateu Grand Traverse, and Peninsula Cellars. The staff was the most friendly and attentive. The ambiance was perfect for seating outside with a plate of wine accompaniments and live music. Even Winston, the house lab was a sweet touch going from table to table to say hello and pose for a selfie.

This place was amazing. The views were beautiful, the service was exceptional, and the wine delicious! They not only allowed us to bring our dog onto the outdoor patio, but they also brought him a bowl of water. Loved it!

Most people when they visit Traverse City and go to some of the winery’s typically hit up Grand Traverse and Château Chantal as they are by far the most popular and tend to skip a few of the others. I am guilty of that myself. On a recent vacation to Houghton Lake, my wife and I decided to go to Traverse City for the day and hit up as many winery’s that offered tastings that we could. Bowers was hands down our favorite on all of Old Mission Peninsula. It has a very charming and rustic look about it and their wine and customer service was exemplary. They also offer a wide variety of hard ciders too if that is your thing. The Blueberry is pretty boss if I may say so and they also offer a Blueberry/Peach combination that they so elegantly call«Bleach» that they recommend. I didn’t get a chance to try that concoction and I wish I would have. We did however buy a growler of the Blueberry Cider to take home with us. Connie who assisted who was extremely knowledgeable of the products they offered and gave us full pallet breakdowns of the flavors and notes we’d experience as well as what types of food they paired well with. All of the staff though was equally friendly which makes it that much more enjoyable. All in all this is our new number one spot to go to when we are ever up in the area.

I would give this place a 10⁄5 stars if I could! We loved it here! We did our own mini tour of wineries on the peninsula. This was our last stop and by far our favorite. The atmosphere is adorable, very rustic chic. They had the best prices we encountered. You could get a taste of 5 wines for $ 2! All the other places were $ 4-$ 5 and had way less options. We loved every one we tried! We were also able to do a cider tasting which was great. I suggest the cherry cider — I bought a mini growler. We also purchased a jalapeño, cherry cheese spread and crackers — delicious! The best part was our bartender/wine connoisseur, Kevin. He was awesome! He was super nice and funny but also really knowledgeable. You could tell he just really loves his job and was giving you his genuine opinion on the wine. Kevin, if you ever read this — you were the best! This was our favorite place and if we visit Traverse City again, it will be one of our first stops!

Great wine, beautiful tasting room, and very knowledgeable staff. One of my new favorites. Only suggestion is go early so you can get a spot in the tasting room. Space fills up fast! Rosé, Pinot Grigio, and ice apple wine are some favorites. They also have a very reasonable wine club.

Set in the vineyard with a lovely vine draped arbor to sip in, this is one of the most scenic spots for sipping. We usually order a flight($ 15) of either red, white or dessert wines and grab crackers and cheese spread from the deli fridge and settle in outside. This year I was surprised to love the the claret and cab franc(reds are usually not the forte in an area known for dry and late harvest riesling), earthy with an actual solid middle of terroir. Bought two bottles of the dessert wine cheritage — plum-raisiny, whisp of nutmeg with a sherry mellow finish. A sad note, the beautiful Bernese Mountain Dog we’ve visited with on the last visit has retired to the farm. Serendipitously a couple brought their sweet young Bernese to the patio(dogs no longer allowed inside due to health code).

A nice, quiet escape from downtown Traverse. My boyfriend and I did a wine tasting, which was $ 2 for 5 samples. Can’t really beat that. The guy who helped us out was very nice and knew a lot about what we sampled. They had a lot of white/sweet wines… so if that is your type of thing, you’ll be in heaven. I definitely recommend having a glass out on the patio. The view is stunning and it’s very relaxing.

Not a bad winery just lacking wine that is not sweet. They have a lot of white wine so if that is your thing then you will love this place. I tried a few whites most were too sweet for my palette. They had some reds but their cab franc fell flat and was much more expensive than other cab franc’s that we had earlier and that had more flavors. The woman serving was nice however they get busy fast and it gets hard to move onto the next wine.

Really enjoyed this winery. The property is beautiful. We were the only two in the winery and enjoyed a nice conversation with Kristi who was pouring our wines. The Pinot Grigio was impressive and we liked the raspberry apple cider enough to bring home a small growler. Prices were affordable and it was a really pleasant experience overall. Our favorite winery we hit on Old Mission by far.

This was such a charming vineyard— my favorite for the ambiance and feel– very rustic. There was live music when we went— and good at that too! The young gentleman playing the guitar was really talented, and we all wished we could have stayed the whole afternoon, or at least for another hour… but alas we were already on our third winery and had spent 3 hours just on wine tasting, which was longer than we expected. But he was sooo good and I just wanted to linger. I really like Bowers Harbor Vineyard because we were able to wander through the vineyard(not sure if the other wineries allow you to do that). The great weather and warm sun probably helped boost up this rating, but this was a perfect winery visit, and we just didn’t want to leave! None of the wines really stood out to me enough to make me want to buy anything though. It was pretty good value though– $ 2 for 5 tastings.

My favorite winery on the Peninnsula! I have been to almost all the wineries in the local area and this one I continue to keep coming back to — in fact I just joined their very attractive wine club. Four components contribute to making this a stellar place to visit: 1) By far the friendly and engaging staff, we leave having felt like we made new friends each time! 2) The wide selection of wine(red/wht/sparkling/sweet/dry, etc.) will please any and all 3) Relaxing atmosphere, it doesn’t have the most amazing view or the fanciest sitting area but feels comfortable surrounded by the vines 4) Reasonable wine prices — nothing is worse than loving some wine but realizing you have to spend $ 25+ when intending to buy several bottles(prices range from $ 12 – 30 or so). Don’t think anyone can go wrong with visiting this place, I miss it already!

Great little secluded space and a totally yum num Pinot Grigio. Unfortunately, it lacked an info sheet of wine descriptions, which is helpful and fun for those of us who generally take their wine from a bag. Friendly staff makes it worth the stop.

Being from Cali I’m bit of a wine snob I find Michigan wineries more of a tourist gimmick. This place has some descent wines and a good vibe

Fairly blah tasting room and menu lacked descriptions for wine novices like us. I did love the spiced cherry wine and the variety of ciders on tap is a nice touch. Music playing was excellent, and all of the usual wines were solid. Does the job but don’t expect something special.

An excellent winery. Sit at their delightful outside seating area and it is like being in heaven. Their Pino Grigio is as good as it gets. All of their wine tasting options are good.
