Capt’n Chucky’s Crab Cake – Trappe

The crab cakes are just ok. Admittedly, I get my crab cakes from a place off the Chesapeake in virginia so the bar is set incredibly high but even prior to this, I don’t remember being a huge fan of these crab cakes. They have enough crab meat, just not enough flavor. They pack no real punch. Disappointing and for the price, I won’t order them again.

I’m a seafood lover so I was super excited about finding this place! Crab cakes are delicious and are all crab with barely any filling. Crab stuffed shrimp were ok — the shrimp is pretty small and buried inside of a scoop of crab imperial (maybe? Could be crab cake). I would just get another crab cake instead next time. I also got the crab soup which I was equally excited about — kind of a let down. I added a lot of salt and pepper as well as corn and then it was pretty good. I’m willing to try their other soups and I would definitely go back for the crab cakes!

Have gotten food from here 7 – 8 times so far, and it’s always been fantastic. The owner is so friendly and helpful. The crab cakes and stuffed shrimp are amazing, and so easy to turn the oven on and heat. Just add wine and you’re all set.
When we need a special meal but can’t get a sitter, this is is our go-​to. Can’t recommend highly enough!

Yuummmmmyyyy! Went here with my sister yesterday and we bought several things and everything was so good. The special of the day was shrimp imperial stuffed flounder with asparagus cordon bleu… omg I’m so satisfied I’m glad I live close I will be coming here more often.

I love their gluten free crab cakes and their gluten free New England Clam Chowder! The clam chowder doesn’t skimp on the meat and potatoes if you know what I mean. Some soups lack in amount of clams, but not this one. You get your money’s worth. It’s delicious! Will definitely keep buying from them. I even bought their crab meat to make my own cakes :)

Still by far the best place to get seafood the staff is so friendly and everything is so tasty

Staff was super friendly. Got the lobster pot pie, Maryland crab soup, crab cake, frozen mussels for pasta, and lobster man n cheese. Everything was very good. My favorite was the the crab cake and soup. Perfect for getting a good lunch for a day at work.

If you like seafood… GO ! The super friendly staff and the MANY types of seafood (+ desserts, sides, dips, etc) make this place a no-​brainer. AND they give free samples of almost anything you’re curious about trying before you’re sure you will like it. I take my wife here and can’t get her back out — so I usually go alone (much faster that way).
Never had a bad experience OR food here… just go see for yourself.

* New England Clam Chowder = (3.5) good flavor… wanted more clams, or just add potatoes;)
CRAB CAKES:
* Smith Island Crab Cake = (4) very good… uses Lump Crab
* Signature Crab Cake = (3.5) good & spicy
***Now IF they could marry the Lump Crab of the Smith Island CC with the Seasoning Flavor of the Signature CC, that would be a Win/​Win situation, b/​c then you wouldn’t have to choose between the two;)lol
OTHER:
* Lobster Potpie = (4.5) Very Good! This was my favorite of the bunch!;)
DESSERT
* Pecan Pie = (4) very good
NOTES: It’s located in a small shopping center & is set up for Take-​out only. The cooking directions are either on the Label or provided in a Handout. And yes they take Credit Cards;)

I called a few weeks back and asked about the soft shells and when they would have them in. The very sweet lady said she wasn’t sure because they have to wait for the crabs in MD to molt, as opposed to getting them down south. She offered to take my name and number and would call me when she got some. Sure enough, in about a week and a half later a very nice man left me a message they were in. So, of course I was putting it off and just stopped in yesterday to get a few for lunch and… already sold out. They offered to call me again at the end of the week and now I know to get off my butt and go get them fast!
So, to console myself over my lack of soft shells, I got a couple Smith Island crab cakes. O.M.G. I sauteed them in butter and sprinkled a little Old Bay on top and was completely transcended to crab heaven. I spent MANY summers at the side of my mom and grandmom as they picked crabs for homemade cakes. I was constantly getting my hands smacked, but found it totally worth it. I have to say (sorry mom, grandmom) these cakes were the best I’ve ever had. They barely held together in the pan from lack of filler and the lumps of meat were perfect. I never order crab anything outside of the MD shore or harbor because I’m always assaulted with round balls of ground crab with peppers and stuff jammed in it. Now I can get my fix without a 2 or 3 hour road trip.
And aside from the awesome food, the owners (I think?) or staff are the nicest people. They really go out of their way for you and will find anything you want if they don’t have it. Stop in, you will NOT be sorry!

Plenty of choices and the food is delicious. The breaded oysters are giant and are delicious. I love that everything is frozen, so you can save it in your freezer and eat at your conveneince, and when you bake it, it tastes fresh. The service is excellent and always so friendly.

THE BEST crabcakes around — whether you like them breaded or not. Stuffed mushrooms are awesome and the service is friendly, informative, and very helpful. Can’t beat the prices, either. Two of us can eat a crabcake dinner with apps for $ 15-​ish. The side are tasty, the desserts are yummy and you can’t beat fresh soups, too.
