I love this place sushi. I went here alll the time when I use to work in the area. Food was always good and fresh. Never actually sat down and here, always got it to go.

This place started consistently good, then drifted into hit or miss territory, now it is falling into the miss category more and more. The food is decent, and if authentic sushi isn’t your quest then this place does pass the test. In some ways, in fact, the food is above average. The issue I have is the service. There is a definite unfriendly vibe of late. At first I thought maybe I insulted the itamae but went with a friend(a regular at g-in) and she was impressed at how nice they were to me compared to her. It is getting to the point where I feel like I am intruding and am going to go out of my way to go elsewhere.

WOW… that was pretty bad. I have to quit getting livingsocial deals. One thing I really don’t understand is how do you expect to see your customer back, when you treat them like they are taking something from you. Rolls where terrible, they screw up my order and said it was my fault, I ordered the wrong thing. Service was mediocre, place looks cheesy and food is expensive, bathrooms were filthy. Will never go back! There are many place to choose from to get a decent meal G-IN Sushi and Grill is definitely not one of them. Looks like they won’t last very long, place was deserted.

I never mind making a trek for good food. A friend of mine offered up a share in his groupon which allowed dinner for 4, including 2 appetizers and 4 rolls. The place was near empty when we arrived at 7:15pm. I don’t know if that was typical for the burbs on a Saturday night or not(and I still don’t) so I won’t really give any criticisms in regard to that. The service was wonderful and friendly and attentive. The hostess explained the Groupon deal in depth when we were seated so there was no confusion later. For appetizers, we played it safe and had edamame and chicken dumplings. Can’t go wrong with either. it was nice that they pan-friend the dumplings for a crisp texture and pleasing color. For our rolls, we had 8 in which at least 6 were all cooked(a friend was particular): 1) Spicy Ebi– Really good sauce but it is just shrimp. The sauce added a kick. 2) Shiitake– Absolutely delicious, completely filled with mushrooms and good amount of rice. The sauce was wonderful. 3) Vegetable– Great combination of squash, asparagus, avocado and ginger to make it more than just a salad roll. 4) S2– My favorite of the bunch with fresh scallop and salmon. Great sauces and it was well constructed. 5) Mexican– Great spice! It was pretty spicy for me since it had a pungent jalapeño but it worked well with the fresh yellowtail. 6) King’s In roll– crab and lobster, again, a great portion of each and not overboard on the rice. 7) Hawaiian roll– I like everything in this but the pineapple. I usually like when there is a fruit topper, like mango and strawberry I’ve had on rolls before. But the pineapple was over powering. I ended up picking it off and eating it separately. 8) Their version of the spider roll– I don’t remember the name but it was tempura’d and to me, it tasted like a donut. Others at our table ordered a few other things and one liked the pork teriyaki and the other wasn’t too fond of the chicken ramen. I liked this place, especially for their fish-to-rice ratio in the rolls but I don’t know if I’d venture out to Tinley Park again just to go here.

I’ve been back here several times in the past few weeks. Still and always a great experience. Brought my friend from California here to try the rolls and sushi — she was pleased … and out-ate us on the food! We stopped back the following weekend again. My son loves this place! He will chow on the edamame and miso soup and we always order the sesame chicken for him, too. Amazingly crispy and sweet when it comes out of the kitchen — eat it right away! Glad they added the Dreaming Roll to the permanent sushi list, it is one of my personal faves…

Went about 6 times over 6 months(regular business trips) so had to find sushi near Tinley Park. First and third times were excellent; second and fourth mediocre fifth and sixth earned the low single star; not a fresh taste to my pallet; and service got worse each visit too(and I tend to over-tip so that was not the reason). and it is expensive too!; so it fell off my list; Now, I travel an extra 3 miles to get more consistent sushi– elsewhere, but that is another review

I decided it was high time I tried dining in at G-In Sushi N Grill. And I’m happy to report it was pretty good. Was it the best sushi I’ve ever had? No. But it is worthy of putting on my list of local places worth revisiting when the sushi craving hits. I’m going to go ahead and give G-In Sushi a forth star. Had it been in the city, I would never dream of such a high standing. However, good sushi bars in the southwest burbs are hard to come by and G-In does a decent job.

So looking at the reviews of this I am not happy at all about some of the reviews. This is a community and there is no need to bash each other as we come here to look for places to try and not to try. There is no need to call anyone an idiot here. Also, I do not agree about some of the good reviews for this place, but to each their own. Needed sushi tonight and wanted to get some sushi… That was the start to realizing that I can actually not enjoy sushi. I should of looked on Unilocal like I usually do, but was in a bind to catch a movie so I decided to just go because we had a coupon. The place is located in a strip mall and seemed okay. Went inside and the décor seemed fine. very simple. Those were the only nice things about the place… Let’s start with service. Just because someone had a coupon doesn’t mean that they should be treated any less than another customer. One of my favorite places(Shabu House) takes the same coupons and I end up tipping more when I go because of the service. With the coupon the server automatically gets 18%. She deserved NONE of it. She saw the coupon and rolled her eyes. Also, she was very brief with us. When we wanted more tea she just waved her hand at us like she was not to be bothered. Let’s think… I don’t want to compare, but that lady works as a server. How does that make her better. Whatever though. She was horrible. She went to the back to bring out drinks to another table, then went back to get miso soup for them, then went back again to get food for yet another table and then filled our cups of green tea. On top of that was the actual food. It could of been slightly saving for me. Maybe it could give them a two. Alas, the food was totally uninspiring. The yellowtail was not fresh. The unagi was not fresh and very bony and was expensive for a sub-par sushi place such as this. Mackerel was okay. Again, nothing was outstandingly fresh or exuded quality. The rolls were loosley rolled where the rice was falling off when picked up with chopsticks. After dipping the sushi into the soy sauce, the roll would completely fall apart. The sushi just wasn’t fresh. The rolls were not well made and they just had too much rice on the rolls. I normally would feel bad to say I don’t like the food from somewhere… just not this time… You should NEVER treat customers horribly. You’ll never get some customers back. especially if you don’t even provide good food to being with. In addition, the price was horrible as you can get sushi for the same price anywhere else. I understand you may be one of the only sushi places in Tinley Park, but that doesn’t give you the right to charge so much for something sub-par served in a horrible manner. Not sorry G-In. You’re 1 star just because I had to give at least that. I’d try to give less otherwise I was that annoyed.
