I’m from LA and visiting friends in the area– so I expect pretty amazing food and service. Food– pretty good for the price. The fish was fresh and the rice was just right. 4 stars for the food. Service– totally lacking. How come our table didn’t get our edamame that everyone else was getting? It took a long time for the wait staff to take our order. Our drinks took longer than usual to arrive(Sprite, iced tea, and a beer). So it’s not like it would take any mixing and blending. The Sprite and iced tea came without ice. I asked for ice from our waiter– no ice. Asked the another waitress and she brought the ice. The I asked for sugar for the iced tea. The same waiter asked«is sweet and low okay?» I said yes. The sugar never came. At the end of the dinner, we didn’t get our melon that normally comes at the end. I went to the restroom and discovered that two of the waiters were on their phone instead of doing their job and tending to the customers. –2 stars. Overall, if customer service was better, I’d say to try this place out. Otherwise– spend your time and money elsewhere.

Had a fantastic meal tonight at Woow. Neither my husband or I had eaten sushi since a trip to Australia in 2013. That’s a time frame that inspires serious sushi withdrawal/cravings! We decided to check out Woow after two separate friends recommended it. We met a friend after work for dinner around 5:30pm. We didn’t realize it until we were seated, but we’d arrived at the restaurant in time for the happy hour special which meant that most of the basic rolls were $ 4.99 before 6:00pm. The food was incredible. The service was top notch. The décor was great. The music… was *awful*. But for sushi of this caliber, who cares what’s playing over the PA?!?(Even if it is a Backstreet Boys/Aqua medley. *Shudder*.) I ordered a spicy tuna roll and a sweet potato roll. My husband got spicy tuna and a Philadelphia roll(cream cheese, smoked salmon & avocado). The sweet potato roll isn’t something I’d normally order but I’m glad I did. It was delicious. It was both soft *and* crunchy, a little sweet and savory, which made for satisfying and unique combination of texture and flavors. The spicy tuna was really tasty, and thankfully not super saucy or mayonnaise-y like other restaurants’ version of spicy tuna. We were given complimentary edamame as an appetizer as well as some honeydew melon as dessert. The presentation of all the dishes we ordered was outstanding, and the care put into each dish was obvious. It was all the little touches such as these that made for an exceptional dining experience. For three people to have 2 rolls each and a drink,(x2 sodas, 1 iced tea), it worked out to a little north of $ 45.00 before tip. For the quality of the food, dining experience and how much we enjoyed ourselves, it was well worth the price. I would highly recommend Woow and am eager to go back.

A total keeper. Good service. Beautiful atmosphere. Sushi/sashimi portions were the perfect size. Golden Dragon roll was the choice for the evening and it was outstanding. Totally recommend to anyone.

Was hesitant because of some mixed reviews but decided to give it a try last Saturday for our anniversary. Nicely decorated. Our server had a thick accent & was a little tough to understand but her service was excellent. We ordered a variety of rolls & some eel sushi. All were very good. Naruto roll tasted very fresh & will be added to my list of fav things although next time we will ask for forks as it was hard to pick up without falling apart. Ordered too much food which made the cost higher than we would have liked but we had the leftovers for dinner the next day so that balanced it out. 2 of us eating had the spicy maki platter(3 rolls), naruto roll, eel avocado roll, spiderman roll(really good w/mango’ crab tempura, cucumber, tuna, avocado & crm cheese), and eel sushi with 2 large Sapporo beers incl tip was around $ 100. We would go again & order less food.

We went on a Thursday and beat the dinner crowd. Service was a touch slow at first but once it got crowded it seemed to pickup. Food was great, got a few things and split it with the wife. Overall I would highly recommend this place if even to only try it once.

Finally tried this place. Was very disappointed. Order a pot of tea and it was horrible, took one sip and it smelled like worn sweat socks. Ordered the crab Rangoon and to be honest, it wasn’t bad. Ordered an Alaskan roll, spider roll, avacado roll and a cucumber roll. Spider roll and Alaskan roll tasted off. Avacado roll was good, but the cucumber roll was just not good. Staff was very friendly, but I don’t think we will be back.

Hidden gem. Would never guess such a nice place would be in a strip mall. Great atmosphere! Delicious food. Good drinks.

I just picked up food from Woow in Frankfort, and WOOW was it awful! We got the spider roll and it tasted like it was rolled a month ago. We also ordered crazy noodle with chicken, and it was lacking any kind of seasoning at all. Even the spring rolls we’ve liked before were hard and tuff. Hostess was friendly and nice though. She probably didn’t eat there today.

I don’t care for sushi more than hibachi but I have at both… Both are fantastic but since she is better than hibachi in my honest opinion. By far the best sushi and hibachi in the area though.

The food is great but the servers are rude. They sit and stare at you while you eat and run over and yell at you the minute you try to share something with someone else. My sister and I were having lunch one day and I ordered the all you can eat sushi lunch special. My sister had never tried sushi before so I offered her a roll. Before I could even place the roll on her plate the server ran over to our table to yell at us. I guess I can understand not sharing an all you can eat lunch because they want each person to order their own meal instead of splitting it, but one roll?! Relax. They also charge you to take home leftover sushi.

We’ve gone here many times and it was usually pretty good. Tonight however was absolutely awful. Beef fried rice tasted awful and had zero vegetables as advertised. Horrible fatty beef too. Chicken pad Tai was not good either. No sprouts, Meh flavor. Mushy noodles. Noodles and company is superior wtf? Crab ragoons were not up to par. All this after making me wait a half for my pickup order. Won’t be returning.

I have been here a bunch of times since my last review. Still the best sushi in the southwest burbs that I have been able to find. And you cannot beat the all you can eat option for lunch.

We tried the Woow special and the sweetheart roll. Both tasted like they have been sitting around for 2 days. We tried two pieces and sent the rest back. Was charged full price. The half priced bottle of wine was nice. Hope we don’t get sick.

I loved the ambiance the restaurant created with its pretty décor. The food, on the other hand, did not impress me. Our sushi wouldn’t stay together! It kept falling apart as we would try to eat it, which after a while really got on our nerves. We also got an order of the fried rice to eat with our sushi. The fried rice was very bland and the chicken was tasteless and tasted more like the pan it was cooked in. Probably going to stay at my regular sushi places from now on.

Tempura shrimp roll, 007, and spicy crab rolls were good. Fried rice and gyoza were also good. One disappointment was I reaaally wanted a zen martini(lemonade, green tea, and vodka) & they were«out». You just offered my husband lemonade, I know you have vodka… so a Japanese restaurant is out of green tea?! Boooo. Was pretty pricey for 3 of us, about $ 70 with tip for 3 rolls, rice, and an app, but still yummy.

You could easily drive by and miss this pace. It’s in the middle of a strip mall, and honestly, from the outside it’s not much to look at, but that’s just the way I saw it through my city girl lens. I walked inside, and to my surprise, it was absolutely beautiful. If you happen to be in the area, I highly recommend that you give this place a try. The lighting is slightly dimmer, but it reflects off of the crystal which helps divide the hostess area from the dining room. The walls are covered in leopard and zebra print, and the chairs are covered in white leather. Sounds a little kooky, but trust me it works. The ambiance is perfect for a date. I was there on a Sunday afternoon and there were a lot of girlfriends catching up over sushi and fancy cocktails. They also have some happy hour specials; on Sunday they have 25% off specialty rolls. The food is excellent. The service is excellent. Everything was way better than anything I expected to find in a strip mall in the burbs.

I had an extremely short first experience with Woow but I can say that I’m already a fan. My friend and I stopped in around 8PM a few nights ago after dining at another restaurant. My friend and I both wanted sushi(as per usual) and decided to pop in and split a roll. The funny thing about Woow is that it looks exactly like a new sushi restaurant that opened near me. However, Woow has been open longer so I’ll credit this new sushi spot to copying Woow. When I told my husband about my finding, he said that all sushi restaurants look the same. Woow used to be Big Tuna and I noticed that a lot of the reviews are about the AYCE sushi at Big Tuna as opposed to Woow. I never got a chance to check out Big Tuna, so I can’t testify to the differences between the two or which restaurant is better. My friend calls this place her«favorite sushi restaurant» so she made a few recommendations on what she normally orders. We decided on the Red Dragon Roll, since the Spicy Tuna is my go-to at most sushi places. The Red Dragon was a spruced up version of the spicy tuna, with a piece of raw tuna on top, as well as tobiko(fish eggs.) This was my first time trying tobiko and I was a little nervous. I ended up pushing most of them off until I got enough cohones to try them. They ended up being very mild tasting and the texture was crunchy. Surprisingly, I enjoyed them. Although this was a short trip, we were still given amazing service – however, there was only 1 – 2 other tables during the time we were here. I’d be interested to see how the service is during their dinner rush. The only thing that was off-putting was that a lot of their specialty rolls seem to have mango in or on them. I had a few rolls with mango at Ra and they are definitely not my thing. It narrowed down the list quite a bit of what I could order since I’m not a fan.
