Yum! I love Vietnamese food… and this place does a nice job with it. Water was served immediately, and we ordered some hot tea also. It came quickly and was delicious. We had an order each of the shrimp spring rolls, and the pork spring rolls, and they came with a nice peanut dipping sauce, and a tangy sweet and sour dipping sauce also. Both types were very good. I ordered for both my girlfriend and myself, since she is not familiar with Vietnamese cuisine(and heck, I am still learning too!) I ordered the grilled shrimp and grilled pork for both of us, hers with the rice vermicelli and mine with broken rice. Very tasty, tender pork with a wonderful sauce… and the shrimp were nicely grilled(maybe a touch overdone) and very good. Rice was very good… and my girlfriend liked her rice vermicelli also. Very friendly and helpful staff also. Highly recommended!

Dined in to this understated dining room with an extensive menu of Vietnamese offerings, with a group of nearly ten on a Sunday afternoon, while we were the only crowd in the house. Atmosphere is enhanced with television showing a Vietnamese program. With average service, authentic food is great for the low-cost prices. As there are better places in the surrounding area for Vietnamese, I would recommend choosing one of those instead.

I had the Phở Tai and my husband had the curry chicken. Both were very bland. The herbs were fresh.

It was ok. Not the best curry chicken I’ve ever had and my wife’s phở tai was less than average. We are still on the hunt for the best phở in town. Oh and the yellow/greenish colored water that ended up being iced tea was very confusing, it looked like something spooned out of the urinal at first glance and took some bravery to determine who would try it first. I won that challenge.

Upon entering I noticed I was the only diner, so I was pleased to see more customers arrived about half way through my meal. It was a rainy day here in Tampa so I knew the perfect comfort food would be a nice bowl of Phở. I am on a mission to find the best in town so this is my 3rd Vietnamese restaurant I’ve visited since my move here. This is a nice, clean little restaurant located in a small strip mall on W. Waters. Immediately I went to wash my hands and upon returning to my table I had a nice glass of iced green tea waiting for me(a huge plus). The Phở was nice but not superb. The broth started off nice and bright with all the usual accompaniments. The noodles started off very tough and took a while to soften up to the texture that I like. I was not pleased with the large amount of tendon and small amount of meatballs(I think I only had one). Towards the end, the broth got very murky and noodles very mushy. This was a nice value for my money $ 9 for the regular size which was more than plenty to fill me up. Overall, not the best Phở in town, but I would return to sample some of the other many menu items that they offer.

Fast service and quiet atmosphere during lunch. Which I love! Servers are very friendly and I love how they provide iced green tea instead of water. Had their phở and their com thit nuong — never dissapointed! They’re so good! Their egg rolls are delicious too! The sauce for the egg rolls have a tad bit more fish sauce so it’s a little saltier than what I’m used to at Saigon Deli. But its still good! This place is definitely my go to place for Vietnamese food if I don’t feel like waiting for a table. Portions are great for the price!

This place is outstanding. Gotta try more items from the menu and also have a dine in experience before I bless them with the big 5, for now its a four and thats not a bad thing. The Bun and Phở will compete with any other restaurant in Tampa. You cant go wrong with either one. Don’t believe they currently sell the Banh Mi sandwich which is a bit disappointing.

I dont usually get phở, but on rainy days they just seem like the perfect thing. This was the only authentic phở place open in the evenings on weekends. The drive was quite a bit away, but i think well worth it. I ordered the large combination phở. Came with a good amount of meat, but a lot of soup. I was hoping for at least more noodles. The meat came cooked… which when sitting in the near boiling soup made it kinda chewy… I’ve always been used to them putting almost rare steak in phở. he soup was great though. May have been towards the end of the night so the soup was concentrated, but that’s just the way I like it. Very very tasty. They gave us a good amount of veggies too. I will say make sure to get them to repeat your order. My girlfriend ordered beefball phở and they gave her combination… i have no idea how the mix up happened. Nevertheless it’s not my first choice, but good enough for me to come back thete is no other option…

I was trying to order for pickup. I am from out of town and tried calling from my phone 3x back to back no one would pick up the line. Then I used my cousin phone who has a local number, it rang 2x and they picked up. I think they screened the calls. Proceeded to place my order 2-phở Tai bo vien with extra noodles on each order. We called 20 minutes before arriving. We get there about 25 minutes later, phở wasn’t ready. I paid for my food, asked to make sure they put those extra noodles in the order. The young gentleman said«yes»!! I get my food about 15 minutes later after getting there. That’s a total of 40 minutes from the time I ordered over the phone for 2 bowls of phở!!! I go to the car, checked my food and there is no extra noodles. I go back in and they said it’s in there. No it wasnt. Then I asked them how much did they charge me for extra noodles. The young gentleman then fumbles around to find my ticket and says«well I never charged you for it». Ummm… didn’t he say at the beginning when I was paying he got that extra side order of noodles!!! Regardless after waiting for almost an hour I got my food, paid for 1 extra noodle for an additional $ 2, we get home and there isn’t even hot sauce or hosin sauce for the phở. Customer service was lacking, food tasted salty, and the whole experience is a failure. I would suggest going to Phở Phat Tai down the street they were so much better.

A 4 for the following reasons: Customer service was good. Restaurant was very clean. Reasonable prices — Broken rice with grilled pork and grilled pork and shrimp bun for a total of $ 18(before tip). Good portions. Not a 5 star because I have had better buns and the noodles in my bun were super soggy so I didn’t finish my plate. I would go again and try different dishes.

I love Vietnamese food and have enjoyed everything I’ve tried. My favorite are the fresh rolls and the grilled beef over vermicelli… Yum! The waiter that I have been served by many times is very nice. The iced green tea is a nice touch.

This is my go-to spot for Viet food when I don’t want a banh mi(since they don’t offer that). I usually get the bun bo nuong-grilled beef with vermicelli. I think their beef is higher quality than other places. It’s really good and the bowl fills me up. They don’t skimp. I love that they serve free jasmine tea and a fried dessert, although sometimes they don’t give me the fried dessert for whatever reason. Service good although the waiter’s English is very limited, décor homey but clean, prices very good.

Excellent excellent authentic Vietnamese food. Just in Tampa for a few days and it’s been difficult finding a good Vietnamese food place. There aren’t that many reviews for Song Hng so I guess I’ll add another one ;) I had bun bo Hue, only because the name of the restaurant is of a river in Hue, where bun bo Hue comes from(now you know ;)) I had an experience with bun bo Hue in another Vietnamese place in Tampa that had inappropriate broth(broth for another dish, it’s like making people eat spaghetti in Alfredo sauce — completely inappropriate), so I was pleasantly surprised Song Huong knows their food well. The interior is clean and fully AC’ed, again very pleasant. WiFi is available — instead I’m typing this using their WiFi :)) the servers were very friendly and accommodating. I would eat here again!(That’s as good as a compliment you’ll get from a very picky native eater!) Overall very pleasant experience and I hope more people give them a try!

Tasty phó tai, FREE iced green tea(refeshing), and friendly and fast service. Located in an unassuming strip center(as so many good Vietnamese restaurants are wont to be), Song Huong offers up as good a bowl of phó as I could have hoped for, especially since tonight was quite chilly(what the crap, Tampa, I expect this out of Cincy, but you???), and I wasn’t too hungry — but then again, I can always make room for phó. Phó is my idea of soul food. SH is very clean and well lit. I loved my iced green tea, smilingly brought to me as soon as I sat down. I ordered a «large» phó for $ 9(a regular size is $ 7), and was brought a big hearty bowl of nongreasy soup with lots of noodles and beef. Seriously, one of the clearest broths I have ever seen. Very delicious. Other dishes I saw being brought out(I have terrible food envy) looked amazing, too: beef lettuce wraps, dumplings, shrimp rolls. I would return here in a heartbeat.

After our bad phở experience in Chicago, we had been yearning for a place to boost our spirits and make us believe again! We happened upon Song Huong after trying to go to another place down the street, which ended up being closed. We found Song Huong on Unilocal and decided to relocate. We would have missed the restaurant completely had I not seen the Unilocal pictures but alas, we found it. Tucked into a small and light pink colored plaza, Song Huong doesn’t impress at first glance. We walked inside and there wasn’t a single person there, excluding the staff. I took a good look at the Asian decore, the Vietnamese show playing on the TV, the simple dining area… yes, this was going to be good. We were seated quickly by a young gentleman who selected a table by the window for us. The menu was full of options from rice vermicelli to egg noodle, a 7-way beef menu to vegetarian options. We literally stared at everything for 15 minutes before we decided on the pork and shrimp spring rolls, sliced beef phở and special fried rice with pork, chicken and shrimp. The food came out super fast! We ordered our food, took a few sips of our iced green teas and 5 minutes later, the waiter brought us the spring rolls. These were fresh and satisfying. The peanut sauce was, as others have mentioned, simply delicious. I took a spoon to mine and poured it into my spring roll– Sorry, I had to do it. Midway through our spring rolls, the sliced beef phở was ready and on our table. It was steaming hot with sliced beef, tons of noodle, long green onions… we threw in some bean sprouts, basil and a squeeze of lime– tada! It was heaven sent. Last but not least, the special fried rice was hearty and definitely special. They did not skimp on the pork, chicken and shrimp. They also served us complimentary sesame seed doughnuts. These were airy and light with a touch of sweetness. They almost had a taro-likeness to them but I’m not exactly sure. They were darn good though. After stuffing our faces to the brim, we just couldn’t finish the last bits of phở and rice. These are waiting for me in the fridge as I type this. JOY. :-) Service was quick and friendly, what we typically prefer when we’re hungry. Overall, I’d visit this place again and again if I still lived in Carrollwood. I’m kinda sad that we didn’t know about it when we lived down the street. Nevertheless, I’m glad I know about it now and will be sure to visit whenever I want Vietnamese food! This place is definitely low key but great on taste!

Haven’t been here in awhile so when some friends wanted Vietnamese near the Carrollwood area, we settled on Song Huong. Once we were seated, iced tea water was brought to our table with the menu. After looking over the menu, we settled on doing a family style dinner meaning plate sharing and also the beef made 7 ways(bo 7 mon) selection. The beef 7 ways is $ 40 – 49 for two people if you are looking to try something different. They bring out 7 different beef dishes from bo tai chanh(rare beef with a dash of lime) to bo luc lac(shaken beef). They also bring out little dipping sauces so that you can use with rice paper and the various meats. Mam nem is my favorite dipping sauce. I could probably drink it! Lol, jk. I’ve tried Bo 7 mon at other places in Tampa, but I would rate this place highest. The beef plates were so much tastier than the other places. Congee soup is also included with it. Tip-If you order the Canh Chua and you’ve a large group of people, don’t be tempted to get the large portion. The smaller size would be just fine. PS– Sorry I don’t have a lot of pics of Bo 7 mon. Was too busy stuffing my face:)

Great food, not so great service! When my hubby and I got in the restaurant I got excited because I really want to eat something authentic and not having to dry all the way to orlando. The ambience was just«ok». It was kind of dark and dated looking. We got seated right away and was served water. I was so impressed at that time until my phở didn’t get to our table when it was supposed to. We had to wait for it. Glad the guy who waited for us noticed that I’m losing my patience already. Food here were truly authentic. I loved my seafood phở. My hubby loved his shrimp, pork and summer roll vermicelli noodles. Also they have delicious spring roll. I asked for a check. Of course we tried to see if everything’s right and when we got the official receipt. It was a cent higher. They charged us a cent more. It was not a big deal but they just have to let us know. Nonetheless, I would still eat here when possible.

We like the this restaurant and this is the third time we are here. The server is friendly, unfortunately they are not fluent in English. The food is very good. Their famous dish is the grill quail. Each order of the grill quail is coming with 10 pieces. They prepare with very tasty sweet blacken source. It is finger licking good. The dinner we have order is 7 courses of beef for two. The come with fresh beef slice wrap, beef cute, sesame beef, beef salad, beef congee, beef ball, beef desert. This is serious amount of food for two. The seven way to cook the beef in Vietnamese style open my eyes how it done differently. Of course, they afraid that you order this dis and share with more than three people. Be sure that you have order one more dish if you want to share. The restaurant is good with group and couple. At the end the restaurant is in medium condition for the furniture. This is a place going for the taste not for look. The duck noodle soup is another dish that you may want to try if you don’t mind the bone. I always like meat with bone because more tasty. If you are boneless food person this is not your dish.

Apparently a popular spot for big Asian families. Happy to go back, but a few things to say: — beef phở was good but beef was dry and tough, and when I got the bowl it was still bunched up, so that was the low point. Broth had a nice flavour. Next time I will try seafood phở. — BBQ pork platter, with fried eggs, Vietnamese meatloaf, broken rice, and something we could not identify –in the photo, it’s between salad and meatloaf. Great marinade for BBQ pork, and crispy-edged Vietnamese style fried eggs. — I had to wait a long time to have my water refilled, and the staff spoke little English, but food was tasty and service was fast.

My quest for finding great Vietnamese food in Tampa has taken me to some awesome places for phở(beef rice noodle soup), banh mi sandwiches on baguette rolls, and the famed rice paper Spring rolls. I find that a bowl of phở recharges my body on a wet & chilly day, and I’ve started to crave that delicious taste. My usual stop for phở had a waiting line out the door, and so I drove a bit further along W. Waters Avenue in search of a new culinary adventure. Song Huong was a surprising find just a few blocks further to the west of N. Dale Mabry Avenue in an area known for little ethnic restaurants. You’ll find this restaurant in a small strip mall, right next to Good Time Charley’s bar, and a few storefronts away from Café no Bule. Song Huong offers Vietnamese cuisine from the Hue province of Vietnam which is located in the North Central Coast region of Vietnam, approximately in the center of the country. As a result you’ll be able to taste flavors from both North and South Vietnam, all along the famed Perfume River. The menu at Song Huong has a wide variety of appetizers, noodle dishes, phở rice noodle soup, rice vermicelli, broken rice dishes, hot pot dishes, stir-fried entrées, and a huge number of delicious-sounding«House Special» entrées. A big chunk of their menu is devoted to vegetarian dishes, so there is literally something for everyone. The mix of dishes is more robust than I have seen at other Vietnamese restaurants, and this looks like a place where I’d like to explore some new flavors on a future visit. The restaurant is small with mostly Asian patrons and it is spotlessly clean. The staff speaks broken English, but they are very delighted that you have come to their restaurant to try their food. Everything on the menu has an English translation and each item has a number next to it, so it’s relatively easy to place your order. I learned that you can customize your order if you prefer to eat something that is not on the menu, but I’ll wait until one of my Vietnamese friends can join me before I get adventurous. Today I ordered the Goi Cuon appetizer which are 2 Vietnamese rice paper Spring rolls filled with freshly-sliced veggies, ground meat, and big, beautiful shrimp. The rolls came with a delicious peanut dipping sauce, and they were much larger rolls than I have had elsewhere. Since it was a chilly, drizzly day I also ordered a bowl of phở with sliced beef and brisket(Phở Tai Nam), and that came with the usual accompaniments of bean sprouts, sliced Jalapeño peppers, Thai basil, cilantro, and a wedge of lime. I have learned that it is considered a polite gesture to taste the broth before adding anything, but after that first sip I squirted in a healthy shot of Sriracha, a teaspoon of chili garlic sauce, some Hoisin, and then added in the accompaniments. Slurp, slurp, slurp!!! Your meal comes with free iced green tea which looks like yellow water until you take a taste. Since I’m a big fan of tea I didn’t feel the need to order any other beverage. Sodas are sold by the can, so don’t plan on getting free refills. At the end of my meal, a small sesame /honey pastry was brought to my table along with the bill. Much tastier and more authentic than getting a free fortune cookie! Yes, I’ll go back and try some other dishes.
