Great value and delicious food. From outside didn’t look inviting but inside is clean and the staff was very friendly. The have a wide variety of food including some Vietnamese dishes. We went on a week night so it was pretty much empty. Next time will try bringing the kids to see how that plays out. We had a bowl of sweet pork with noodles and a seafood soup, they were so good. We’ll try the fried rice next time. Also the coconut water was the freshest I’ve had in the US so far.

This place is truly one of Tampa’s hidden gems located right off Dale Mabry. It’s a very unique restaurant, just like the sign says Hong Kong and Vietnamese cuisine coupled with a completely overwhelming menu… seriously it’s like the Cheesecake Factory of Asian restaurants. However in this case that is a really good thing. First of I really like the atmosphere at this place. It’s not the the nicest or newest looking place outside(but great character), however inside it’s very clean and cozy. This place is much nicer and more spacious than many other authentic Asian restaurants I’ve grown accustomed to. The service is top notch and I really appreciate how helpful the staff is at explaining menu items and offering recommendations. It’s unbelievable how many types of soups they have here. I don’t know of another restaurant that even comes close. On top of that, they got all your basic go to Vietnamese and Chinese dishes available as well as many unexpected ones. I saw they had fried soft shell crab on special so I had to try that and shrimp dumplings for appetizers. They were both great, especially the fried soft shell crab and the dumplings had so much shrimp in them. My dining partner wanted some soup and decided to try the Grouper Fillet with Snow Pea Tip Soup. Neither one of us knew that snow pea tips are the leaves of a snow pea plant, which are delicious BTW and a very unique leafy green. The soup was light, tasty, and incomparable to any other soup I’ve had before. I wanted to try both Vietnamese and Chinese entrees, so I decided on the Fried Spring Roll and Grilled Pork on Rice Vermicelli and the Ching Du Pork Chop. The Vermicelli was okay and a very large portion, especially for under $ 8. The Ching Du Pork Chops were incredible, definitely my favorite of the night. The pork was very flavorful and fried just right and the sauce was different than anything else I’ve had. It’s sweet and rich but nothing like sweet and sour. This was my first time trying Ching Du Pork Chops, but I loved them and would highly recommend them. Just one note they do still have some smaller bones left in the meat so keep that in mind. I still can’t believe how many soups they have here as well as hot pots, dim sum, and a bunch of pan fried noodles. They also have two menu pages devoted to seafood dishes, so basically there are way to many things I wanna try here. I think anyone that enjoys Asian food will find something they like here and a lot of the dishes are a ridiculously inexpensive.

There are probably 200+ items on the menu at this very local, Carrollwood area, family restaurant. Yet the quality is a solid 4 stars. Whether you go with the Phở, vermicelli dishes, Hot pots etc they pull off the large menu without a hitch. The prices are low(average entrée $ 8 or so) and the atmosphere is very family oriented. I’ve been here twice in the past two weeks and it’s hard to get away from their main Phở dish(rare beef + meatballs). Overall I recommend the restaurants for those looking for quality traditional Viet food at a decent price. Nothing mind blowing or fusion or experimental here just straightforward good food and service with a large dining room.

The building isn’t all that appealing BUT the food is really really good. The staff was friendly and very helpful with menu. At first I was skeptical coming to this place but after giving them a chance I’m happy and definitely coming back. I got the beef vermicelli bowl. The right amount of portions: veggies, noodles and the meat(flavor and cooked perfectly) was spot on. I passed on the fish sauce that comes with because the bowl itself was excellent(for me). I recommend this place! Eat and enjoy!

I’ve been to this restaurant for the past several years since living in Tampa Bay. This is a Chinese/Vietnamese restaurant. The food is always amazing! I love it here! When you walk in the restaurant, it smells like you just entered a Vietnamese or Chinese grandma’s home as she prepares dinner for you. The staff is friendly and will tell you exactly what’s in the food if asked. In my most recent visit, they have been very timely also. The menu is full of a wide variety of authentic dishes. The ingredients are fresh. They even have frog legs on the menu(I’m not brave enough to try that one yet). The menu consists of multiple pages, by the way. You can tell the restaurants authenticity by the high amount of people from the same ethnic group eating here. That’s when you know it’s good! :-) Everything that I’ve had has been made to perfection. Every now and then I will have high cravings for their food as a result. Since I live and work on opposite corners of Tampa Bay, I wish they could add a new location closer to where I live so I can eat here more often. :-) I would highly recommend this place to anyone who likes good quality, authentic Asian food for flavorful food in general.

More like 1.5 stars! I used to come here all the time for their amazing Phò and other yummy Vietnamese food. This was a bad visit. When we arrived, only 2 booths were occupied. Wish I left the restaurant but we kept moving forward. The waiter who was helping us wasn’t the person who took our order. I don’t think he spoke much English, which lead to more problems along the way. For appetizer, we got Chinese eggrolls. Egg rolls stuffed with cabbage and deep fried, comes with a side of sweet chili sauce and pickled vegetables. It was ok. Main entrées: * Chicken lemongrass: this WAS by far my family’s favorite dish here. When we got this in the past, it came with lots of veggies. Since the veggies change every night, I specifically asked our waiter if he can find out what veggies will be used in this dish. He said it comes with broccoli, peppers and onions. When we got the dish, it was mostly onions and few pieces of peppers. The flavors were there, chicken marinated in lemon grass and other spices but the ridiculous amount of onion ruined it for me. * Spicy beef Phò: SODISAPPOINTED! This place used to have amazing soups, not sure what happened tonite. The broth had no flavor at all, even with all of the fixings. My nite was ruined. I won’t be coming back here anymore :/

Really like coming here. Owners are Vietnamese but lived in Hong Kong so their menu reflects their Vietnamese roots as well as their Chinese background. The phở here is amazing clear flavorful broth packed with tender flank and tendon. I often buy their sauces in quart size because they are delicious. Their dimsum is also very good but sometimes it is a little scarce for the selection of the day. Their garlic crab and giant oysters are very good too. You can grab a quick Vietnamese lunch or a 6 course Chinese dinner here.

We have been to this restaurant many time but did not give them a review. Love this place since the food is very close to teowchiew cuisine. People from teowchiew eat flat noodle soup at street vender. They normally serve with ground pork meat chunk, fish ball, slice pork, scallion, vege and fermented salty vege. Today we have order the combo grill. It come with grilled pork, grilled meat ball, shrimp in sugar cane, lettuce, half slice cucumber, bean sprout, fried onion, cilantro, fried garlic, pickle carrot, thin angle hair pasta, rice flour skin, and a bowl of hot water to soften the rice flour skin. The meat and vege then can be wrap in the rice flour skin like the roll. They accompany with fish sauce to dip or use the tomato base chili sauce. We also have the deep fried pork large intestine. This is delicacy dish that eat it as crispy with sweet sauce. They marinate the intestine before deep fried. The outward is crispy and the inward is soft. Yummy. The main dish is the dried scallop fried rice. We have try many place for dry scallop fried rice. This is not the best but it is tasty enough. You can taste the high heat wok oil and create the scallop enhance taste in the rice which make this elegant. Second dish is the prince mushroom– Agaricus augustus the real name. This dish is only seasonable. If you lucky at the right time they may have it. It is a yellow mushroom when you slice them. They can be cook with beef slice or shrimp. The mushroom slice look like abalone and feel like abalone but is a vege. Overall service is great tonight. They have large group there to celebrate Chinese New Year. Fortunately we have our order in before them.

One of my favorite Chinese restaurants in Tampa! Not only is their food really good but their service is amazing. We’ve been coming here for years with the family and its always a good feeling when they remember our faces which adds to the family feel of this restaurant. They also are able to accommodate large groups, as we have celebrated countless thanksgiving, birthday & Christmas dinners here in the past and have walked away each and every time with full bellies and lots of left overs with out breaking the bank — thank you ! Some of my favorite dishes include: Seafood Pan fried noodles, General Tso’s chicken(so crispy!!!), salt & pepper squid, salt & pepper pork chop, pan fried flounder w/ginger scallion & the crispy roast duck(served w/steamed bun, scallions & hoison sauce) If your really hungry and are looking for a nice sit down restaurant with out breaking the bank, stop on by and enjoy a nice family meal at the Golden Phoenix!
