The food is truly delicious. Absolutely amazing! The restaurant is spotless and offers a great selection of dishes. The customer service, however, is comically terrible. Be prepared for a lengthy dinner. If I had been in a rush I would probably be less amused. Since I time to wait it was actually rather funny witnessing how long it took for a Sprite to arrive at someone’s table. I will definitely be back. The food is worth the wait.

A hidden little Indian spot on East Fowler with a classy take on the buffet. Instead of a big spread of food that everyone dishes up themselves, the attentive waitstaff brings you all-you-can-eat personalized dishes(with a veg or non-veg option). The food was just the right amount of spicy & very flavorful. My waiter was standing by to fulfill my request for more food or water(because the perfect amount of spicy does burn a little). Excellent convenient lunch spot

So far the best indian food you can get in Tampa… The place has a sober ambience and the food is real good. The chicken kebab and gobi manchurian are sumptuous. They ACTUALLY serve freshly prepared food which makes the taste worth it. The buffet as well is great, they serve you on the table I would recommend this place for sure.!!

By far THE best Indian restaurant in Tampa. I have tried most of the Indian restaurants in the Bay Area and this one stands out The lunch buffet is served hot to the table — you can chose vegetarian or non-vegetarian(meat) options and everything is prepared fresh and served to the table. You can then ask for a refill of whatever you like. Since they prepare everything fresh, you have to wait a little. But it is worth the wait Cleanliness and Service is also A+ Overall a pleasant experience — will definitely go back

Best Indian food I have ever had, the lunch buffet is the way to go my boyfriend and I left extremely stuffed and satisfied. The total was about 21 dollars which is a great deal for all the food you get, we will defiantly be back!

Sunday afternoon Indian brunch buffet. I visited this place after shopping with my wife at the next door Indian store. There lunch buffet is unique and classy In a way. They bring up course after course of delicious Indian food to your table. All the plates are attractively served. Our courses along with rating were: Bhel Poori: 6/10, if it wasn’t a buffet I would have totally filled my tummy with it. Small Potato samosa: 7/10, it had peas and was warm and crispy outside and tasty inside with green peas. Appetizers: Pakora: 4/10, a bit soggy and cold Tandoori chicken drumsticks: 8/10, served with mint and tamarind chutney. best in Tampa bay yet and I have been living here 3+ years Entrees: Butter chicken: 7/10, awesome gravy with fresh cream, chicken could use some love. Karahi chicken: 6/10, had fresh ingredients like capsicum and gravy was cooked well, chicken seemed over cooked Daal tadka: 5/10, too spicy for my taste, the spice killed the taste of the pulses Vegetable korma: 6/10, creamy gravy, not the best vegetable korma I had but good for buffet. Warm crispy out and fluffy in naans: 8/10, it’s simple to achieve but not lot of Indian restaurant get it done well. Desserts: Gulab jamun: 9/10, was best I have tasted in a Indian restaurant buffet Carrot halwa: 7/10, could use more cream but was still tasty. I got to meet the chef at the end and he seemed to know his art well. Will definitely visit again. I hope they keep up.

Stopped by at this place by sheer chance, we were actually looking for another Indian place nearby and finding it closed we decided to give DBN a try, and glad we did !! The lunch buffet is served dine-in style which reduces wastage of food and you can get more customized selection than a one-size-fits-all buffet offerings you get at other Indian restaurants. We had veg pakoras, tandoori chicken, fish pakoras, curry chicken and saag paneer with fresh naan. I esp enjoyed the fish pakoras among all though our party of 5 generally agreed all the menu items we tasted were good in their own. The owner/chef was pleasant to talk to and receptive to suggestions. Will go there again if I happen to be in Tampa sometime in future.

I’ve tried all of the area Indian restaurants and Desi by Nature is the best of them all. Their portion sizes are a little small, and their kitchen is a little slow, but it’s all made up for in the taste of their food. I haven’t tried their lunch buffet, but their dinner is superb.

This is probably the best Indian restaurant in the Tampa Bay Area. We have been to this same place about a year ago, when it was under another management under a different name, the food was mediocre and only vegetarian. We just had lunch at ‘Desi by Nature’ next to Patel’s. By far the BEST Indian restaurant in Tampa. Seems new owners have taken over and it’s no more vegetarian only and they serve Buffet too. Highly recommend this place.

I have visited Desi by Nature twice now and both times have been positive experiences. The first time was a tasting with some fellow food bloggers that I know — this time it was for their regular lunch buffet which offers Indian food made-to-order with some fellow friends. Desi by Nature offers North Indian cuisine which isn’t common to find at restaurants in Tampa. You’ll find that their Indian food tastes a little different from what you may be used to, but certainly not in a bad way. The décor inside is modern and doesn’t really have the dive-feel to it, but more a casual and professional vibe. Lunch is only $ 9.95 and includes a variety of appetizers, curries, naan bread, and dessert. All of it tastes like quality and because the food isn’t left sitting out you certainly can have more confidence in the way its served. I’m a big fan of butter chicken and the one at Desi by Nature is great! Other than that I really love their samosas, Methi Chicken, and the Saag Paneer is great if you love a little spicy. If you don’t have time to dine-in they also offer take-out Indian lunch boxes during lunch hours for those on-the-go. The competition is obviously fierce with plenty of Indian restaurants in the area, but I think if you visit Desi by Nature you’ll find that they are a unique experience that is well worth a visit. The servers are friendly and the owners seem really passionate about what they do so I wish them the best of luck and recommend you check out Desi by Nature soon!

Bad food, all day wait. That’s Desi By Nature. They have ‘all you can eat’. There is no buffet counter, so they bring it to the table. We were party of 3, had to wait for 10 to 15 minutes between each refill or order. We spent 1 hr 15 mins for lunch, the wait killed my apetite and my mood. I hope they fix this and stay in business. Taste is mediocre. Like some other reviewer already mentioned– STAYAWAY.

This place is refreshingly delightful in the Indian cuisine space. The food is unquestionably fresh and flavorful… and most importantly, high quality! Many Indian restaurants serve dishes that have minuscule cubes of meat smothered in creamy sauces. If that is what you want, then Desi By Nature is not for you! I went in for their lunch buffet today. What I really loved was that food was prepared fresh and brought to my table. Attentive waiters refilled dishes as requested, as much as you would like. Delicious! My request is for more vegetable dishes on the buffet menu. The strip plaza that houses DBN is lackluster but is well known(thanks to Patel Brothers grocery store). Signage is not very visible if you don’t know where you are going. The inside of this restaurant, however, is clean, bright, and comfortable. I can’t say enough about the power couple that created and run this restaurant. They are an incredible family committed to delivering consistently high quality Indian food.

The food was awesome. If you want to try Chicken Biryani or Tandoori Chicken This is the place. The Naan that was served to me was very fresh. I also liked the palak paneer. I hope they’ll continue to maintain their quality.

Highly recommend methi chicken and chilli paneer. oh yes they have indo chinese on the menu. dont go by reviews. its fairly a new place and food is far far better than the most in tampa. Try it and judge it yourself. well decorated as well.

We’ve been here at least 3 times. We love the food — very healthy, not oily and feels light like home made Indian food would. I can attest to the authenticity. We have had biryani, naan, okra curry, paneer curry — all delicious. There is sufficient parking and eating. I love the décor — modern and clean. The fact that the menu is simple, small and focused tells me they pay attention to what they serve. What could be better? The service, process and the wait staff. I was surprised to hear«I can’t tell you if thats good because I haven’t tried it». I would suggest the wait staff be trained to be service oriented and knowledgeable especially given the small Menu. We were asked to be reminded about our order at least on 2 occasions. We weren’t fans of the chat — spices and flavor are almost lost its so subtle. Not juicy. Chat is a definite area of improvement. Lot of potential if they fix service!

I was looking for a good Indian restaurant to fix my craving. The food was quite bland and services is bleh. I understand they try to keep the food mild to suit all customers tastes but the food just lacked flavor that Indian food is known for. Could definitely be improved. The paneer makhani was just a lot of tomato paste with paneer. The chicken kebabs were alright at best. What scares me about this place is the buffet. It’s brought to your table in dishes, which you then serve yourself. How does the customer know that the uneaten food is not then served to other customers or how would you know you aren’t eating some other customer’s leftovers??? I’ve eaten a lot of Indian food in my day but this was a disappointment.
