I came here on a week night, so we basically had the place to ourselves. The waiter was fast with getting us seated, with menus, and drinks. I enjoyed my shrimp tempura crunch roll. Next time I’ll probably sit at the bar to experience the boats floating around :)

Honestly, We wish that we would have taken the fact that they only have 2 ½ stars seriously! Customer service sucks! Sushi was almost too big and there was a huge piece of plastic on our roll! Not to mention the fried rolls we got were so hot that my husband burnt his mouth on them! The waiter didn’t even say be careful it’s hot. Never ever coming back!

The food was alright not the best place I’ve been, thought I would try it out. I got the chicken teriyaki deluxe bento box with California rolls and tempura($ 9.95) and the spicy tuna roll(6 for $ 3.35) For the price you can’t beat it, you get a fair amount of food which was decent. The customer service is why I am giving this place two stars. The messed my order up three times before getting the order right. The still charged me for the other two items when I got the bill. Other than that this place has pretty decent food for a reasonable price, they just need to work on their customer service!

Wanted to see it improved. Again bad service. Walked in and wasn’t even greeted by a soul. Stood in front of the waiter while he changed channels and had to help myself. So sat in front of the sushi boats and just picked up my selection. Another waiter dropped off menus without a word. 5 min later given a glass of water again without a word. Paid and left. Same waiter muttered«thank you». Was only spoken to when I paid. Always felt if u don’t like people don’t be a waiter. At least the sushi wasn’t too old. I think the highest bar they can make.

The food is marginal and the service is well below average. The older server mentioned on several reviews is ***really*** not friendly and acted like he was doing me a favor. I ordered a teriyaki beef bento box and some nigiri sushi. The beef had too much fat and the sushi was just ok. There were lots of takeout orders as well. All were being handled by the same server. So it ended up taking a long time to get seated, get a menu, place my order, get my food, get the check. At no time was the table cleared of the plates I no longer needed. Bottom line, I was not very impressed with place at all. If you really want sushi, you can find much better better.

My GF and I have visited here maybe 5 or 6 times in the past year, always after a round of golf at Sunken Gardens. Plenty of sushi to pick from of varying flavors and degrees, but we usually get a bento box with rice, salad, and miso soup and a side of sushi. Their rolls can be pricey depending on which ones you get, however they always taste fresh and use good ingredients. We will be back!

I’ve been coming here for over a year. Service is great time and time again. Family of 6 and my kids when it come to eat out. Well let’s just say they don’t make easy in the restaurant. Not even once I felt unwelcome y the crew that by the way have not changed. Families or not I will recommend this place every time.

I used to love the ariake in south San Jose. So now we are closer to the sunnyvale version. I’m not returning. The boats had really old stuff on them. The wasabi seemed to have been sitting out for ages(we arrived at 11:30am). The waiters didn’t greet us or seem glad that anyone was there.(There were 4 customers total). Last, I had to box up the giant chicken udon(which was not that bad) with a set of chop sticks by myself. Couldn’t they take it in the back and put it in a container for the customer? The waiter was too busy ignoring us and watching TV. How is this place still open?

Our family loves this place. The food is reliably good, service is fast and courteous, you can’t go wrong if you need a quick bite on the run.

We will never come here to for All you can eat Sushi again. Because the Mexican sushi chef he try to put a lot and a lot of rice to fill you up, to not you eat more. And the price is not cheap at all.

So my sons and I just started this game… we will drive up and down El Camino until we find a restaurant with whatever Alphabet letter we are on. Friday night was A. Ugh… so we ended up here. Horrible service. Horrible fatty fatty fatty chicken teriyaki, boats were 85% empty, sushi chefs were inattentive, the waiter was ok, when he finally acknowledged us and gave us some cold edemame on the house for the delay. Looks like a few regulars come here and may be great for them, but not for us.

The only reason why I come here is because my friends want to eat here. Mostly, I’ve had combination lunches for $ 8. Undoubtedly, the basics are good: miso soup, rice, edamame, but when it comes to the main, it’s dry and lackluster. If I didn’t have to eat at Ariake, I wouldn’t, but I want to accommodate my friends so I force myself to go.

Nothing extravagant about this spot… Snotty service with a decent sushi fix when in a rush n don’t wanna wait… Cons: bathroom smells like a fukushima aftermath. The scent of radioactive feces is definitely a bad…

The stars are for the food, not the service. Waiter did not get order right. Never came back once to check on me or offer more tea. Food was good. Service was not. Prices were good, service was not. Finally, watching a football game, was good. Service was not.

So I hate writing negative reviews but this cant be avoided. As I walked in an older gentlemen sat me down. I immediately noticed as I sat down that there was no bowl for me to put my wasabi and ginger for the sauce in. The second thing I observed was that he rushed ny order which led to me forgetting to ask for a coke. So then after my order was done I havent seen my waiter since. Another waiter put my food on my table and I had to ask him for a coke which he did. The food part was okay, wasnt the best but it was what I expected for the place it is. I noticed other customers got miso soup. where as I did not. Wasnt sure if they ordered or just got it. The whole time I saw my waiter actually only 2 times… for ordering and the check. Overall, if you are just looking to be in and out that good but if you’re looking to enjoy yourself than look else where. Ps. The mexican guy was nice and tried hard… he is what gained a star for me(the guy who wasnt my waiter)

I’m surprised to see the low ratings! Ariake’s prices are exactly what I think is a fair price for veggie maki! Get this — most of their 6pc veggie maki is only $ 1.95! Let’s backup a second — I was beyond devastated when both Miyake locations closed(you know the super cheap Japanese place with the sake bombs in Cupertino and Palo Alto). They had everything I wanted for $ 2 and I’m slightly embarrassed to admit I was probably their best customer(Avocado rolls for daaaaayyss). I am happy to report that I’ve found a sushi place that serves vegetarian suishi at Miyake’s prices AND they have the little floating boats. It’s like Miyake’s less popular strip mall cousin. My standard order: — 6pc avocado roll(two orders) — 6pc shitake mushroom roll — 2pc tamago FORONLY $ 8!!! Their other larger rolls are very well priced too(most under $ 10) and dinner bentos are around $ 12. Good stuff! Tip — make sure you double check your order and be sure they have heard you correctly. I’ve had a few wrong orders here

Oh how this place gives me so many memories. I used to come here a lot when my girls were younger… about 10+ years ago! We would always sit at or near the sushi boat bar. This place hasn’t changed much, even the same staff members still work here. Today, I came in for lunch and sat at the sushi boat bar. There was not a lot items on there, but the Kani, Cucumber, and California Rolls all looked tasty to me so I grabbed them right away. They were generous in size and tasted fresh, especially the crunchy cucumbers. Satisfied, I decided to order my dinner for work later on that night. I got a meal from the lunch special, Spicy Chicken to go. This meal was huge, it came with loads of rice, topped with chicken, spicy sauce on the side, salad, edamame, wedge of orange, and miso soup! I ended up eating the soup right away, which had lots of seaweed and big chunks of tofu(compared to other places). My to go dinner was great tonight, the salad was still fresh and crispy(wished I had more dressing), edamame was good, chicken was juicy, and the spicy sauce I dipped them in was really yummy! It was also on the really spicy side, which I like =) **Service was good. I really appreciate them for not forgetting the napkins and chop stick so that I can eat my dinner at work.

~*~Great Service, Decent Sushi Selection, Decent Prices, FRESHFISH, we catch it, you buy it~*~ No? No one remembers that line from Aladdin? Standard Cali menu. Fish is fresh. Servers adhere to my odd requests(a couple of sheets of seaweed on the side for no reason). ORDERED Philly Roll — Salmon Avocado Cream Cheese Salmon Sashimi Some eel role(I don’t eat eel) It looked good. Brightly lit. Good for a sushi quicky.

Terrible sushi. Japanese would be offended. No wasabi under the fish. Rice is tasteless and overcooked. Salmon eggs looked from last week. Now to the Beef Udon. Who puts broccoli in a beef udon? Overly cooked noodles with micro-cubed beef pieces(to seem like there is a lot, which there isn’t). After eating the(cooked) mackarel from the top of my sushi and trying the udon, I look at the empty table next to me and what do I see: A COCKROACH. The small kind, but disgusting nevertheless. I point it out the Chinese man running the place and he kills it right on the table. Didn’t even wipe it after that… Ewww, I can only imagine what is in the kitchen.
