The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf

Maybe 3 stars is unfair, but the drinks here are NOT good! Is it just me? Should my opinion not count? I came here the other day to have a full study day with my girlfriend, and we ended up getting great seats and no one glared at us for staying there for most of the day (it was a slow and rainy Saturday). I don’t remember the last time I had drinks from any Coffee Bean, but I don’t remember disliking them as much as I did that day. I ordered a sugar free vanilla latte and it was AWFUL. I had to throw it out. It had WAY too much syrup and didn’t even taste like coffee, just syrup and milk. The young woman at the register was extremely confused when I asked her if she had any unsweetened soy milk, I’m not sure if she was new, but I had to repeat my order to her a couple times because the question threw her off so much. (Turns out they don’t have any unsweetened alternative milks– soy, almond) according to her. Will probably be back to study, but I might just stick with a cookie or pastry.

I love this place! There is an underground parking structure that always has parking available! The coffee is great, it has an outside patio and almost always has seating space available inside — plus, it’s not Starbucks

This location officially became the worst today. They are consistently under staffed and the employees are more interested in chatting it up than making coffee drinks. I’m a loyal coffee bean customer and today was just a blood boiling bad experience.
I only went because I was out of coffee at home (coffee bean coffee) so I go here on my way to work. I order my latte and wait… the employees start chatting it up with the customer after me who happens to be asking about their barista training. He asked if it was on the job or if they go somewhere to get trained. The girl making my latte says its on the job training and the guy at the cash register says he wishes some people would go to outside barista training and shot a look at the girl making my latte. She then proceeds to overfill the cup. So I’m in my car DRIVING when I go to take my first delicious sip of latte when the lid POPS OFF SENDING COFFEE ALL OVER ME AND MY CAR! I’m beyond pissed because I don’t have time to go home and change. Her overfilling the cup comprised the cup rim holding the lid. She’s lucky it wasn’t hot like it should have been, so I’m only writing a review. Maybe she should get off site training because her barista skills are lacking and she’s one scalding hot cup of coffee away from a lawsuit.
I’m all for friendly customer services and chatting with people, it’s part of the job but if you can’t do both, then focus on what your job really is and make drinks that people pay $ 4.50 for… get it together!

Better than most CBTL locations.
This is a great location with plenty of lot & street parking. Outdoor seating have heaters and there is plenty of indoor seating too. The service is quick and friendly. I ordered a mocha with no whip and it came out thick and creamy, the way I like it.
One thing I noticed was the place looked well kept and the tables & chairs didn’t look run down and beaten. You have the usual laptop campers, but that’s pretty common in all coffee houses.

Usually my go to location. Friendly fast and plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating. Nice vibe :)

I’ve always been a huge lover of Coffee Bean, and in my previous city I befriended the baristas and we all had a jolly good time together. Now I’ve moved here, and been to this location maybe three times, and they already know my drink order. Doesn’t get better than that… I guess I found my new spot.

I love coffee bean and there is a closer one to my house but I go here because the employees and manager are awesome! Thank you for great coffee and great service.

This location is a great example of bad management. I will not be back.
Saturday morning, understaffed and the beverage station not stocked. Another time I came and the manager was more interested in talking with a co worker rather than helping customers.

The people at this location are so rude and lazy! I’ll not return here again. Hope they can up their customer service game. Very disappointed. I guess I’ll try Dunkin Donuts in Encino next week they might appreciate my business.

Just walked in after leaving Starbucks in frustration from not being helped and got great service, coffee and coffee warmer cup from the friendly staff– turned my attitude right around — thank you Jane & staff

Great staff! And a fun location. I was in here for about 4 hours on a weekday, and the staff said hello to each and every person who walked through the door! They also joked with me at the register, something I’m a sucker for.
Outside is good for people watching (or should I say car watching) and the inside has a lot of tables, even though they might be a little cramped.
Last, but not least, they gave out free samples of an amazing drink while I was there! Just icing on the cake. My new favorite location!

Better than St@rbucks. This location is right by the house, so we’re always here. Very good coffee.

This place is always busy. Its right on cold water canyon and ventura, right next to wellsfargo. They have parking in the back of the building and valet option too. Their coffee drinks are good and their tea selection is rich. Overall good service it just feels like the drinks take forever.

Its sad to write 1 star review, but thats exactly what i feel after visiting this facility. Place itself okay looks quite and comfortable. There were two employees which obviously couldn’t handdle amount of orders at the moment. While i was waiting in line chashier talked with customer who already made their orders! I hate that! But cashier just do her job, she cant tell customer go away i have line over here. I hate this people who know there’s line behind and they already all set, keep talking to employees. Its really selfish. The worst part of my story is my latte… its was just awful. I made couple drinks i throw it to trash, even though i hardly ever throw away food. It was like i just throw in the trash 5 $ and 10 minutes of my time… no just think about it! Before that i thougt all coffee shops pretty much same… and famous starbucks nothing but the brand? Now i start to respecr them…

Very disappointment with the entire staff– a homeless person walked in to get a cup of water and he was denied– he repeatedly asked for one cup of water– they escorted him out and one girl (while laughing) acted to call the police– I have never witnessed such a curl display toward another human– I’m so glad coffee beans are a franchise– as this one will never get another cent from me! Who runs this place… Hitler?

This CBTL is in a corner complex of shops, bank and offices.
Pleasant store. Staff is helpful, nice and friendly.
Lots of tables and seating, good natural light coming through in the morning.
Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf does the job, though I’d prefer a stronger flavour.
House de-​caffeinated brew was not full-​bodied or rich tasting. Or maybe the roast was simply much lighter than what I’m used to. Still, it held up and tasted fine later on.
Sure, judge me now. But there shall come a day, you too will suffer insomnia and need to reduce your caffeine intake. For the rest of your life.
This Coffee Bean gets an extra star in my review, thanks to the cheery water dispenser.
Huh? No, uh, that wasn’t me filling up a water bottle… ;p

The Social Cult of Starbucks vs. CBTL… this is like the modern day version of the 90’s boy-​band battle, BSB vs. N’Stink!
Personally I enjoy my coffee from Starbucks, their beverages are stronger because they have more caffeine in them (shots of expresso), also their drinks are pure and not watered down. I’ve ordered an ice coffee from CBTL and personally seen them add water to a regular cup. According to them their coffee is more concentrated and they have to add water, according to my taste buds, it’s watered down.
This location is downstairs from where I work so it’s conveniently located, but I do have to say I’m willing to walk a block and a half down to get Starbucks. What I do love about this location, aside from the fact it’s been recently renovated and their heated outdoor patio, is that the staff there is VERY FRIENDLY and have GREAT attitudes, especially when the Starbuckers in me orders a «Grande» instead of a «Regular». They prepare your beverage to your liking and will gladly remake it if it’s to your satisfaction and always have water available so it’s not an added request.
I’m not a fan of their drinks what so ever! Sorry to be so blunt about it! They sweeten their drinks with powder which I honestly don’t have a problem with, what I have a problem with is the consistency of their beverages is always so thick! I always feel guilty after consuming one — it’s like I just had a rich decedent dessert in texture that didn’t taste that great! Also, all their beverages are too sweet, I find the sugar free ones just as sweet.
They have season promotions, $ 1 for a regular when they are introducing their seasonal drinks for coffee happy hour between 2−5pm. Other than the promotional prices on the drink, I find them to be more costly than Starbucks, it seems like every customization to you drink is an additional charge. I tend to go back out of convenience not out of preference. Sorry CBTL, much like N*Stink, you had a few great hit!

I’ve been checking in at this location a bunch and I’m still not positive if this is the location at Whitsett or Coldwater — either way I frequent both in our neighborhood a bunch but I’m hoping this is the Coldwater loca. I usually pass this location right up for whatever reason and walk or drive an additional half mile to the Whitsett location but recently I have come in here a lot. The service is always great. Parking can be a pain at times — there is metered street parking out front or a private parking lot in the back. I’m pretty easy to please when it comes to tea and lattes — iced green tea or a non fat latte (sometimes iced) so I’m not a good one to review creamers, sugars and all those add ins but this is a perfectly fine CBTL — no complaints here!
