Food was okay. Service okay. Servers tried to do their best. But rolls were so so. Nice interior and location.

Food was okay, but after i felt a little sick but not anything serious, but the workers there are not very nice, and one of them was a lady with a attitude

Delicious food but horrible service. The staff is rude and slow. Would only come back because of the food.

Initially wasn’t planning on leaving a review but just saw a review of the same experience we had, guess it’s common at this restaurant. Anyway came here and there was hair in my sisters sushi. Told the waiter to take it off the check and remake a new one, even though we already lost out appetite from seeing hair strand on our food. Chefs should be attentive when making food at all times

One of my go to Sashimi spots, never too crowded which we love. I’m not a huge sushi lover and prefer sashimi but when I want a sushi roll… all hail the Macadamia roll!!! It is insanely good, I hate to share it and always order my own. Haven’t had one bad dish here. Love the ambiance overall. Perfect place to feed that mid week craving of Japanese goodness.

If I could, I would rate zero star. Ordered 3 dishes for togo, Baked scallops, spicy tuna on crispy rice and salmon & spicy scallop roll. All of them were very disappointing, but it was pricy. I will never go back again

Decent priced lunch special and the food was super good. Expect to pay about $ 15 per person. Food portions were perfect and the presentation was on point. Charles our server was really chill and took good care of us. We’re definitely coming back for lunch next time

This establishment deserves a 5 star, considering I’ve been going here for years without a single bad experience. The quality of the sushi is not only fresh, but artistic in presentation as well. Very clean place, and does NOT smell like old fish like some other places, that will go unnamed in this review. Thanks a lot Yen, for all the great food! See you later!

Let’s start with the inattentive employees who barely acknowledge you’re there — besides the general greeting, I was left standing there for a while waiting for someone to help me. Ok fine, maybe it was the lunch rush, I get that. The thing that got them this one star review(I would rate less than one star if I could) was after I got my to-go order and was halfway through my tempura shrimp roll, I noticed a HAIR on one of the pieces. DISGUSTING. I definitely WILLNOTBEBACK.

I can’t express how much I love this place! I’ve turned friends and family onto my obsession. Their menu is amazing and huge. Every thing I try, I’m in love with! One negative is the ambience of the restaurant isn’t great. If feels like a strip mall type restaurant, instead of a classy restaurant. If I were them, I’d work on that piece. At that price point, I think you need a much better ambience. The second negative I will say is most of the people working there seemed like they had an attitude. They really weren’t friendly and acted almost annoyed at you for being there. To be honest, I didn’t let it bother me, but perhaps I should have.

Pricey. Ordered agedashi tofu, got cold tofu. Since it was togo I ended up paying for something I didn’t want since going back would be more of a hassle. Terrible cheap chopsticks.

Hot Tip: Happy hour is 4 – 6:30 or so, so get in early. #2: Try the Spicy Albocore Crispy Rice. I’ve only seen the Spicy Tuna version and this was Good!!! Another Ventura Blvd sushi spot to check off the list. This place was great! The fish was fresh with big cuts. Get the dinner combination! It had a crab hand roll, mixed tempura, sushi, sashimi, part of a roll, salad, and I think that was it. For $ 18 at dinner!!! The other rolls are a good price too. We boith got filled up. Ohh yeah, and a good selection of Sake!

A hidden gem in a city full of Sushi joints. This place deserves all 5 stars. The food is reasonably priced and the fish is very fresh. The culinary creations are magical and each piece melts in your mouth. I highly recommend dining here. Say hello to Tony the Sushi chef(not sure if that’s his real name but that’s what he gave me).

Great place with great service Even my one year old had fun. Ask for their green tea made from scratch. Highly recommended They have good selection and will manage to change it to your taste bite. Cheers

Went here for lunch yesterday and it was pretty empty, which was great. We had ordered 4 rolls and 1 appetizer. Appetizer: spicy rung on crispy rice was really good. Rolls: Snow Sand roll. It was delicious! I highly recommend this roll. Popcorn roll delicious as well. Rainbow roll was great Macadamia roll was different but very yummy. Service was good. We had received our food 10 minutes after we ordered and they all arrived together.

I was sitting at the corner table outside reading a book waiting for a friend and one of the ladies come’s out and of course ask’s; «are you eating here?» I said, I’m not sure yet, I’m waiting for a friend. Then she said well this table is for customer’s only… And waits for me to leave. So rude. Mind you the restaurant is Empty on a Friday afternoon. I’m hungry AF I might have eaten there but not anymore. Dead A** Restaurant — Pls

3.5 stars Came to Yen Sushi during lunch time to see what have to offer. They have a pretty good lunch menu and the price wasn’t bad either. SERVICE: I thought it was great. Maybe because I was the only one there, but I was there when it open. FOOD: Chirashi Bowl: I wouldn’t call it Chirashi bowl since it was it served on a long plate, but it was decent. The fish was your basic tuna, salmon, yellowtail, albacore, white fish, and ebi. For $ 14.95 I say it wasn’t a bad deal. 3⁄5 stars. Maybe there dinner Chirashi bowl would be better. Yellowtail belly nigiri was excellent. Great size cuts and very fatty and fresh. 4⁄5 stars Sweet Shrimp w/Fried Heads. This was also excellent. The Sweet Shrimp was huge and sweet and also fresh. 4⁄5 stars Overall I thought Yen Sushi & Sake Bar was pretty good.

I was very impressed with the quality of this sushi place. It’s very hard for me to say that a sushi place is good, but this one blew my mind. Everything from Shiitake Mushroom Fries to Macadamia nut Roll and Honeymoon Roll was hands down delicious. I commend the chef for these beautiful creations. I’m looking forward to going there again. Besides from the food, which already made me give them 5 stars, I have the admit, the service was superior. Not for one second my glass of water went below half. The waitress was very attentive and the experience definitely exceeded my expectations.

Friend and I came here for dinner with a living social deal. We got here around 7:30 and there was no wait. We ordered a spicy garlic edamame, a tuna dish that you put on top of crispy wontons and 2 rolls; it was more than enough food for the 2 of us. The waitresses would come over periodically and take away plates we were done with and refill our water glasses. The food tasted great and came out very quickly and service was awesome also. It definitely doesn’t compare to the authentic sushi places but if you are craving rolls, this place is good. A movie star also was sitting right next to us so that was exciting too! :) they have free parking!

Had the Living Social deal for $ 40. It’s a really good deal and I highly recommend you grab it if you see it again. Even though this is in a shopping center on busy Ventura in Studio City, we found easy street parking. This location of Yen isn’t large, but we still found a cozy table for two near a window. The music selection I have to say is – odd… loud hip hop on the sound system. Not sure why. Doesn’t seem to suit the aesthetic. Ordering is a little weird. They bring you a sheet of paper with menu listings and we assumed we were supposed to fill in what we wanted. Apparently you are not. Service was a bit perfunctory throughout the evening, even though we were nearly the only customers in the restaurant. We got a lot of food… Edamame, a Rock Shrimp Tempura Roll(so good), vegetarian sushi and a vegetarian tempura roll. We liked everything we ordered and it was a more than substantial amount of food for two people. Still, we only JUST hit the $ 40 mark for our Living Social. Which was surprising for the quality and amount of the food. This is a cute little place with tremendous potential that I would happily go back to.
