Hmmmmm… just got mocked to my face by the Bartender Ava… I ordered a burrito 30 minutes ago… she forgot to put in. Somehow it’s funny to her. Please spend your money elsewhere. I get obnoxious bartenders… but not when they’re that bad at there job.

If you wanna watch a dodgers game this is one of the few bars in the area that has time warner, right next to cactus taquria and you can order from the bar, very convenient as there is usually a long line at the burrito jo8nt. Quality beers on tap and a good selection of spirits and they have a pool table, rare for a bar in LA

This place continues to suck! Despite serious upgrades to their POS systems it’s still CASHONLY?!(Even Farmers markets have a square reader) Went in for a drink because we were ordering at Catus next door & bar tender served up our first round pretty quick; however when we wanted a second round it was a aweful… The bartender saw our empty glasses and continued to discuss how much money she was making this evening with a patron that seemed to be a friend… After being ear f@cked about her greed I had to rudely interrupt her convo so I could place an additional order since we were in a rush. Apparently we weren’t alone because on her way back she picked up two more orders… Between Cash only & ignoring patrons… F@ck this place and just go to Fox N Hounds or Risiduals for better service & they actually live in the civilized world and take credit cards…

This is for happy hour review. This dive bar is old and outdated, but it still has a quaint feel and is definitely a place where regulars hang out. Bar staff was friendly but spread a bit thin, as there was only one bartender working for a decent sized crowd. Happy hour is available M-F from 2 to 6PM. Well drinks are $ 5 each, beers are either $ 4 or $ 5. They also offer complimentary peanuts. The choices are Japanese or spicy nuts. parking — metered or limited free street parking

Small spot which offers a pool table and T. V’s throughout the bar. Nothing special here. Just another average place to drink at. They give you a small bowl with munchies to eat on while you drink. Didn’t see a late night happy hour menu on a weekday. It’s cash only.

It’s a little dive bar that I really like. The owner, Marta, owns the taco shop next to it, and she makes an amazing margarita. Her daughter, Graciela works there and is very personable and cute. Definitely check it out!

Fun times. We stopped through here after dropping some people off at the Hollywood Bowl. Mellow crowd and pretty damn nice inside for a «dive bar»

This place is cash only with a small parking lot. I first found it on an TV show I was watching FX. The cocktails were strong and inexpensive. I liked the vibe and the taco stand across the way helps for later on. I thought the service was pretty good too.

Drinks are relatively cheap. The bathrooms need to be checked and cleaned more often. Just don’t come on Wednesday nights. The female bartender is super rude and tells you how you should like your drink. Over it!

I would like to start by saying I love dive bars. The positives about this place is that they offer pickup service if you want to get cactus tacos delivered. The bartenders are nice each time I have gone so no issues there. The best time I have had there was when I decided to grab a day drink, and for that it gets an extra star. I wouldn’t deter anyone from checking it out, but for me I want a better dive. This one is low on the standards of even that. Before even walking in I was met by some of the clientele. I didn’t even have to go in to experience the douchbagery… The prices are pretty good which is a plus being that it’s cash only.

What a nice little bar within walking distance from our place. We’ve been looking for a place to watch kings games at when we want to be out and about. We walked in and the game was on. Good sign number one. The bartenders were both very friendly and attentive. The«regulars»? Interesting bunch. But all were nice. I heard the infamous«Kenny» name from a previous review but no one came up and harassed my girlfriend so maybe that review was exaggerating. Someone did get kicked out. Apparently a regular who is one of those guys who can’t handle his alcohol or pick up on social cues. Not a good mix. We got some fun drinks, watched the game, and had a pretty good time. We’ll def be back next game day. It’d be nice to take up roots at a local spot.

It says Cantina but I don’t see a menu. Is it the taco stand or nothing? I remember the original. Seem colder now. Cactus Jack —

I love me a dive bar. I sincerely do, I searched this joint out because it’s sign is like a 50’s boozers beacon of light. Like«Mel’s Diner» it blinks me towards a shot of liquor and swig of cold beer. I’ve driven passed it many of times and wanted to pop in but because of other plans or whatever I didn’t until tonight. And I have to say I was just bored. It’s not a dive bar. It’s not even a sports bar. It’s as far as I could tell not even an awesome neighborhood gin joint. They have three tv screens to watch games. One pool table. But it doesn’t embrace it’s divey 50’s allure. The plus: they let you bring your own food in and Cactus, an awesome taco joint, sits next door and drinks are well priced.

I love this place! I’m a local so it’s definitely convenient for me when I want to get out. The bartenders are super friendly & attentive. The owners are great also & you can order food from their taco place right next door, which I may add that their food is delicious; try the carne asada sopes with everything, PERFECTION!!! It is *cash only*, but me being a thrifty person it gives me an idea of how much I’d like to spend & it makes me very aware; where as using a debit/credit card you can easily lose track of your spending habits haha! *There is an atm in the back of bar though Hope you enjoy! & I might even see you there!!! Amazing bar! Stopped by on lunch break and checked this place out. Great drinks and friendly bartenders. It’s cash only but they have an ATM on site. They have all the sports events on TV and show boxing on weekends, NHL, and basically all sports packages! The pool table is really clean and great to play on. Really looking forward to coming back and seeing what this place is like on weekends!

It’s a cool small-ish bar, it’s been remodeled, but still kept its divey feel. Right next to Cactus taco stand and they’ll let you order/bring in food from there. I really want to like this place, especially since it’s close by, but I always have the same feelings every time I go. Quit the cash-only thing, especially when the drinks aren’t super cheap. Also, the uh, «regulars» I guess you’d say, are a bunch of jackasses. They monopolize the pool table, give attitude if they don’t like what you put on the jukebox, and just make it uncomfortable for people they don’t know. They act like it’s some podunk locals only small town bar, but seriously guys, you’re in Studio City.

I come to Star fairly often. Most of the regulars are cool, there’e a good selection of beers, and the bartenders are friendly. Getting tired of one of the regulars, though, and it forces my two star review. This guy, whose name starts with a K and rhymes with penny, seems to exist solely to creep out and drive off any woman that walks into the place. Tonight, I saw him make a trio of nice, cute, drink buying girls leave their drinks half done and walk out. They won’t be back. Tried talking to them, but he scared them off. He does the same thing if a couple comes in. He won’t listen to his friends trying to chill him out; it’s like he lives to cock block guys. This review is about this one guy, but the bar tender didn’t bounce his drunk creepy behind out the door. He makes the bar look bad, and there are far too many other bars for ladies to go to. The management spent a lot making a very nice bar, and to lose the divey atmosphere. It’s a shame they still have the dive mentality.

I went to high school in the San Fernando Valley, so I tend to stay away in fear of bumping into someone I don’t want to bump into. I guess I should be safe in Studio City… but anyways… I love dive bars. I’m a fan of them because you meet the coolest, weirdest, and most interesting people in the world there. This time, I came to Starlite Cantina because my friend invited me to watch the Mexico vs. Croatia World Cup game… she also said it was a dive bar, it will be fun, so I said, fine. You supported my team(USMNT) and I’ll just sit there and have a beer or something. The décor is cool, I was told that it had been recently remodeled. It reminded me of what had happened to The Gold Room before it’s revamping.(I still miss the old Gold Room… but that’s another story.) It has a modern jukebox, a pool table, tables with numbers to make it easy on the server, maybe. We got complimentary nuts, to make us thirstier for beer, and there is a Happy Hour, which kicked in at 2pm.(not sure till when). There is no food, but the taco stand next door(owned by the same family that took over the bar) delivers food to the bar. PROs Cool little spot friendly bar tender food option(tacos, burritos, etc.) Plenty of TV’s for a sport watching CONs Cash only Pricey for a cash only«dive bar» Now that I think of it… I think this place used to be a «dive bar» but now they are in this limbo of trying to convert it into something more than a «dive bar.» A dive bar wouldn’t have more than 5 flat screen TV’s and a modern juke box, right? Drinks wouldn’t be more than $ 6… so, who knows. Would I go back? Yeah, why not? But I would rather save money on gas and drink around my hood with cheaper drinks for sure…

ASHLEY is the bomb! She is full of smiles when you walk in, great conversationalist, and pours a perfect drink! She also loves our version of battle of the jukebox! Starlite is a great neighborhood bar!
