First time there. Being gluten-free, I recognize my menu limitations. I asked the guy behind the counter, who seemed, from his dress, age & demeanor to be the manager, what were my options. He was terse, barked out the nachos and asked me to step aside to next counter! If my buddy hadn’t already ordered & paid, we would’ve walked out. The nachos & cheese were both very dry & too salty. The beans had no taste. It amazes me that they only serve flour tacos! Corn tacos are offered by almost every Mexican food-service business I’ve been in. Mind boggling… Can I give them negative stars? LOL Needless to say, I’ll never eat there again!

I use to go to Sierra Grille pretty often but hadn’t been there in probably about a year or two. Today I drove by and wow what the hell happened. I ordered nachos with cheese, I got nachos almost burnt with about 2lbs of cheese and a table spoon of bland black beans laid out in the bottom of the plate. why the heck do you put beans on the bottom of the plate I didn’t even realize they were on the plate till I was almost done. Needless to say so unimpressed that it’s probably going to be another 2 – 3 yrs before I venture in there again.

Great place! So far we’ve only had tacos and they were always very fresh. We only order them with corn tortillas as my wife eats gluten-free. She has absolutely no issue after eating those, «proving» their food is fresh and doesn’t contain any additives. Honestly all their meat and fish is very good. The shrimps in the shrimp taco are really big and the tacos are filled. Their steak taco is excellent. The pork bbq is a bit unusual, not bad, but not very Mexican. But I don’t hold it against them because it is described as it will be. Oh, and the guacamole is tasty too. The place is also clean and ordering is fast, but definitely the decoration is a bit sad, just a tad above the cheapest fast food chains. OK so this is not haute cuisine for sure. It’s also not El Charrito, which food has more personality, but it’s honest and fresh food, and for that I give them 4 stars. It’s also better and cheaper in my opinion than Olé Mole next door(sorry guys but I think you’re too expensive for the taste and the quantity). It’s also not a chain. Definitely after eating twice in 2 weeks at Chipotle, I don’t want to go there in a while, and I’m a fan. Now that I live next to Sierra Grille I don’t want to drive all the way to El Charrito, and I’m pretty happy I’ve found them(thank you to my friends who told us about it!). Fresh food Can deliver gluten-free tacos Friendly staff Cheap Ambiance not great — get take-away

At the prompting of a friend we went to Sierra Grille to eat last week. My first time. Basically what you do is order from the big menu board above, pay, they give you a receipt & you go to any non-occupied table you choose. When the food is ready they call you, identified by # on paid receipt. Like many other reviewers stated the food is bland, I had grilled chicken with black beans, rice & a salad. The beans in particular were bland & after having much experience with Caribbean style beans the blandness & lack of flavor is even more evident. Portion size was small, I mean rice & beans!! – how much does it cost them!!. The only thing they were generous with was the ridiculous tortilla chips they give you on the side. Oh there was 1 high point & the only 1 being the salad-way better than average. Chicken was nothing to rave about. As for the manager who stands right next to cashier– he’s no charm & definitely appears to be all about profit & not making your dining experience a positive 1. The atmosphere was ok, bright, positive & Sierra Grille is good for families as it’s fairly informal. The price – just about average for a Fairfield County chain restaurant. I do not recommend SIerra Grille & will not return.

It’s the same idea as Chipotle, Baja Fresh or Qdoba — the«fast food» side of Mexican — burritos, tacos, quesadillas, etc. I tried the Steak Fajita burrito. It was ok, not great, but ok. I felt like it was on the bland side compared to some of the other chain joints in the same category. My burrito had no cheese, a tiny amount of guacamole and so much pico de gallo that water was dripping from it when I bit into it. They do have some menu choices that you can’t get in other fast food Mexican places — like shrimp burritos and some of the specialty salads. If I go back, I’ll probably try something other than the burritos and eat my burritos up the street in Chipotle.

My food was EXTREMELY bland. I then noticed there was no cheese(even though the menu stated it was to be included in the burrito). I went to the counter to see if I could get get a side of sour cream and they said its in there. I said that I didn’t think so since it was missing cheese too. The girl looked at me like I was crazy and then told me that if I wanted sour cream that I had to pay .53 cents. The veggie burrito cost me $ 9.25, there was no cheese in it and you have the audacity to tell me I have to pay extra now for a little thing of sour cream. I’ll drive the 15 minutes next time and just go to Chipolte! Stay far away from this place.

I have been going to Sierra Grille for years and generally liked the food. Yesterday I got take out from there and brought it home to find that there was a DEADCOCKROACH baked onto my food. When I called to complain to the manager, he laughed at me and refused to even refund my $ 10 meal. This place is disgusting and the management is unprofessional. CHECKYOURFOODBEFOREYOUEATIT.

I love Sierra grille but it’s not as how it used to. Meat sometimes are not fully cooked — you have to let them know you want it fully cooked(If your weirded out with rare). If you order more than 4 items, make sure to check all your orders as they will forget everything. But overall, still delicious for take out

Very clean and the food is delicious. I love the way the steak is made here in comparison to Chipotle and the platters are a much better value when comparing to something similar at chipotle. All orders seem to be accompanied by tortilla chips which you must pay extra for at any other Mexican themed restaurant. I use to come here quite often but got blinded by the chipotle burrito craze but now I’m back to stay!

The restaurant is clean, and the food is good. Far better than Chipotle! The first time I came here, I had the shrimp platter. I complained about not getting enough shrimp, but then I ended up being satisfied with my meal because the shrimps were big. The second time, I ordered a steak platter with shrimp. The food was so freakin good. The steak was delicious, and again, the shrimps were big. The salad that came with the meal was fresh. Sierra Grille is my new addiction. Yes, it’s pricey, but it’s worth it.

Food is really good and healthy(depending upon the food you order) but all and all friendly staff. A little pricey, but all in all if you want something that isnt fast food like then this is the place to go. I fully recommend it!

Absolutely disgusting. I ate here today and after eating more than half of my burrito I bit into a gross piece of raw chicken. There was a server near my table at the time sweeping up, and so I politely called her over and told her discreetly so as not to disturb or disgust the other diners. She said she would get the manager but then went right back to sweeping so this obviously wasn’t important to her. I went to the register and asked for the manager who promptly came out to see me. When I told him what happened his exact response was«that’s impossible, we check all of our chicken and that couldn’t happen.» Are you kidding me!?! So I guess I am a liar. I thought the customer was always right. I told him he was wrong and asked him to taste the raw piece of chicken if he didn’t believe me and of course he wouldn’t. This manager was rude and unprofessional and I will never ever eat here again. How dare you tell me I am wrong!?! The customer is always right! I think I know raw chicken when I see it and bite into it. All I wanted was a refund, not another burrito with more potentially raw chicken in it. I am so mad!!! Stay away from this place!!!

The worst by far. The cook acted as if he did not care and that is how the food tasted. I will never go back and could not believe the salsa which tasted like catsup. At no cost is this place wort it. Horrible!

Definitely a good go to Mexican everyday place. Love the food — easy and very good quality. Eat there all the time very convenient and close to home. Great for lunch or an uneventful meal.

This joint along High Ridge road serves up solid Mexican, «fast food» style. From burritos, tacos, quesadillas, a fair amount of the usual menu options in this type of establishment are represented. Most of these options, get you a handful of tortilla chips too. Which you can hit the salsa bar with, and choose from the half a dozen options. Fountain drinks, as well as water or a couple different bottled beers are available. Decent booths to sit in or take-out of course ! Been going here for years.

Food may be good, but hygiene is terrible. While preparing my meal, the person used their bare hands to prepare everything I was going to eat. He even scooped up handful of extra chips which I ordered, with his hands. What ever happened to using latex gloves or tongs? When I mentioned something to the manager, his comment was«we always wash our hands.» Ugh!!! Maybe so, but I don’t want anyone’s so called clean bare hands handling the lettuce, the meat or the chips I’m about to eat in my salad. Gross!!! After a few minutes of arguing, the manager finally refunded my money.

Very tasty food. It has become one of my favorite fast food Mexican restaurants in Stamford! I absolutely love their shrimp burrito. It is a very light tasting and filling burrito. shrimp $ 6.79 Spicy marinated & grilled shrimp with melted Jack cheese, lettuce & cool orange-kiwi-papaya salsa! Amazing!!! My bf and I always split a salad with it as well. We skip the sour cream. It is so delicious! SIERRASALAD plain $ 5.49 Red leaf & Romaine in a giant crisp tortilla shell, topped with black beans, tomato, cheese, guacamole, sour cream & house made vinaigrette dressing

I used to eat here all the time in high school, so it was a bit of a blast from the past to eat here last month. Everything is just how I remember it — small portions, plain chips, and mediocre food. My quesadilla was a little light on the chicken, but still pretty tasty. They need to do something about the chips because they were very sad… and very salty. The real winner here is the salsa bar! Thank goodness they have the same red-hot stuff they had 7(ouch, I’m getting old) years ago. In the end, a fun place to grab lunch with Moms when I was in town.

A Limited — Mainly Burrito — Menu, Lots of Lettuce, Skimpy on the Meat If you like tacos with a lot of lettuce and just a few pieces of meat, you may like this one-step-above fast food place. There were literally three small strips of beef or chicken, a huge amount of shredded lettuce and a few shreds of jack cheese on each taco. To top it off, the flour tortillas were kinda dried out. The chicken strips on the grilled chicken plate, which included yellow rice(good), black or refried beans and a salad were tough, dry and obviously cooked well before we ordered.(I thought it was suspicious when our food was ready for pick up just minutes after we placed the order.) I would have preferred to wait for a freshly grilled hot chicken breast — also one that wasn’t carved up into strips. Overall, the food at Sierra Grille was very bland. Their salsa bar, however, had a tasty fire-roasted tomato salsa and a curiously sweet hot sauce, among other condiments. The corn tortilla chips that seem to come with every meal were OK. Even with the relatively low prices here, we won’t be going back.
